Ok that's awesome, gotta appreciate the free upgrade! Though I'm kinda afraid how it might mess with current mods on pc

I had a hunch they'd do this. I hope they can really push the visuals this time and I really hope they improve the lighting engine.

Daniel Ahmad @zhugeexHere is a look at quarterly revenue for CD Projekt Red. The Witcher 3 put them on the map in Q2 2015. Both expansions boosted sales of the game. As did the release of the Switch version and impact from transmedia projects. CDPR Group employed 1,079 people at the end of H1 2020. 82% are part of the CDPR segment while 18% are part of GOG. 73% are men and 27% are women. - Interesting to see just how much W3 overshadowed their previous efforts.

Looks like porting to Switch was a smart move. Those are really good sales for a 4 year old game.

I wanna preface this by saying, I really loved this game. The first one I didn't much care for, and the second was alright. I'm going to post this video because I think this can prompt a very fascinating discussion provided level headed individuals prevail. I would strongly urge anyone interested in this topic to fully watch it before commenting, as I can see how this might prompt knee-jerk reactions. I watched that a while back. The level of similarity between Geralt and Elric raises some uncomfortable questions that's for sure. The Conjunction of Spheres similarities was another shocker. Couldn't stand the Razor guy personally though. The claim that Ciri is Elric's sword with a vagina or whatever his exact wording, was so laughable I thought it undermined an otherwise informative video. I'm thinking of trying to get my hands on the Elric series to read this winter, though seems they're not in print anymore.

I feel the video prompts a lot of uncomfortable questions about the entire franchise, and seems fairly obvious what the implication is.

Clearly unless there is some cosmic coincidence Sapkowski plagiarized large chunks of Moorcock's work, and he wasn't particularly subtle about it. The games got in on this to a lesser extent as well. But as a viewer only knowledgeable of one side of this, clear bias on Razor's part (and this wasn't the only example), brings into question a lot of his points that aren't clear one to one apparent rip offs. When George Lucas ripped off Frank Herbert when writing Star Wars, he at least changed it up enough to make it his own in my opinion. I suppose the other part of this is whether Sapkowski does enough to make The Witcher his own, and I can't answer that.

Razor's bias comes from the fact that Sapkowski continues to deny even being influenced by Moorcock, insisting he came up with this shit all by himself, with no inspiration from anything. He makes that pretty clear in the video. He is definitely a Moorcock fan, who is tired of hearing weak excuses. I can understand that, personally.

Sounds a bit like being a Robert Jordan/Wheel of Time fan and hearing people gush about Goodkind and The Sword of Truth. When he was alive, Jordan was asked on his blog if he was aware of the series and had noted the "similarities between the two". His response was, verbatim; "I am aware of Mr Goodkind." Classic Jordan. Anyway - we just spent a week at the lake with Polish friends who now live in New Zealand. They're both big Sapkowski fans. When the topic came up around Sapkowski and CDPR and the contract between the two for the use of the Witcher IP, I mentioned that he (Sapkowski) sounds like a bit of a dick. They offered him a percentage cut of all future earnings right at the very start, but he declined in favour of a lump sum because he didn't believe the games would make any money. It was only after the games were far more successful than his books had ever been that he started mouthing off and eventually taking them to court to get an improved deal. Our Polish friends...did not care for that characterisation. So anyway, my point is; hearing that he had - allegedly - copied someone else's work is not all that surprising in terms of his character.

Apparently TW3 is going to get some free DLC's inspired by the Netflix show. The DLC's will be available for both the OG and Next Gen versions. Ballsack armor for everyone!

And yeah, the biggest thing is Sapkowski refusing to acknowledge Moorcock as an influence, or any other author really. As a European I'm tempted to comment that Americans often seem to underestimate just how incredibly cheap and stodgy Poles can be. But those sorts of jokes haven't gone over very well lately, so I probably wouldn't dare. Wait. Oops. Personally, I prefer my awesome writers curmudgeonous and antisocial and intently focused on their work without any patience for the public personality celebrity bullshit rather than coasting on their success, indulging in fame and/or trying to turn themselves into a brand by branching out like crazy at the expense of their actual writing. *Cough*GRRMartinandPatrickRothfuss*Cough* If Sapkowski wants to spend the rest of his life bitterly cradling his masterpiece and resenting anyone who presumes to take a single piece of it for themselves, rightly or wrongly, then I'm right there with him. What's the world coming to if a successful old man who paid his taxes and then some can't be grumpy and unreasonable anymore?

Micheal Moorcock himself never denied that Elric was basically Monsieur Zenith from the Sexton Blake series combined with Poul Anderson's The Broken Sword, so for Sapkowski to never acknowledge his influences comes off as suspect. Not only that, had Andrzej simply changed some surface names and descriptions here and there (White Wolf anyone?), the accusations of plagiarism might not have been so egregious. It's not like Moorcock invented Dark Heroic Fantasy after all. As for Razorfist, to me the guy often comes off as try hard Edgelord at times, but a broken clock is right once a day.

What if You Don't Play the Game as Intended?
This video shows what happens to the story when you play the game in a different order. As far as I can see, the guy, who made this video, left no stone untouched. Very cool.

As far as I can see, the guy, who made this video, left no stone untouched. Very cool. In my last PT, I started with Novigrad, but I never finished that PT. On my recent one, I was thinking starting with Skellige and looks like that is what I should be doing.
