Starting a proper playthrough of Dragon Age Inquisition (My thoughts on tactics and builds)

I have played Dragon Age Inquisition before, but not much of it. Part of it was because I didn't seem to know too much about the mechanics of the game so I struggled with the battles (the other thing was that I was playing on an Xbox 360 and it didn't look as good as I hoped it would). But with a new PC, I thought I would finally focus my efforts on a full Dragon Age Inquisition play-through. I'm just going to go over what I do know about the game mechanics so far and then give thoughts on what I should be doing in the game.
So there are three classes:
- Warriors specialize mostly in tanking and staying alive in the heat of battle or taking out multiple enemies at once.
- Rogues use stealth and traps in the battlefield and can inflict massive damage on a single target.
- Mages are expert manipulators of the battlefield, casting spells that stun enemies, inflict area damage, and buff up your team.
From a story perspective, I want to avoid having my main character be a mage because as someone who hasn't played a Dragon Age experience until this point, I naturally wouldn't know that much about the mystical side of Thedas, so it makes sense that my character be a "normal" character. I'm also going to play my first run as a human because a.) I can relate to my character more and b.) humans get an extra Ability Point which can help my overall combat.
Each class has a couple branches in their skill tree, usually between the two weapon types (to make it easy, I'll just stick with the squad's default weapon types) and two on different specializations. Warriors have this tank specialization vs controlling specialization, Rogue's have this trap vs stealth specialization, and Mages just have four different elements of magic.
My main character should have a mixture of the two elements while each squadmate is leveled up to match a role I think fits their character.
- Warriors:
-- Cassandra is all about tanking. Not is it because she's the first warrior you get, but because I feel she's the type of warrior who's all about holding the line in the heat of battle.
-- Iron Bull is all about attacking/control because he's a giant Qunari warrior who loves to get into fights.
-- Blackwall is a mixture, because I think the Grey Wardins in general are trained to handle any fighting situation.
- Rogues:
-- Varric is about traps because after all, as a dwarf he's a master tinkerer.
-- Cole is all stealth because technically he's a ghost (okay actually a spirit in a human body, but that basically means ghost to me).
-- Sera is a mixture because she seems like the trouble maker who improvises in the battlefield.
- Mages: (since mages don't have proper specializations, I'm basing the skills I want to level up based on their character roles.)
-- Solas should be about healing/defense while also control the battle. (Spirit and Ice)
-- Vivienne, being a super powerful mage herself, is all about damage (lightning and fire)
-- Dorian, with his carefree attitude, mixes them all (all four magic).
That being said, each character should at least have the skills that are super important to them. Warriors need to have guard, Mages should be able to cast barriers, and rogues should be harder to hit.
My squad should consist of at least one tanking warrior, one warrior that pulls enemies to them to finish them off, a rogue, and a mage. The way a battle would work (and I'll probably just activate tactic view everytime I go to battle anyway) is that my mage will first cast a barrier on my party, and the warriors will activate guard. The tank will draw enemies, or at least the stronger ones, toward him or her, while the other warrior will try to dish as many extra enemies he or she can. My Mage will constantly cast area of effect spells to damage or freeze my enemies, while depending on my rogue, I'll either a.) lay traps around him or her to damage enemies approaching or b.) stealth around the battlefield and pick of stray enemies.
Now this is just guess work right now, I don't know if this will work entirely. Are there any additional tips or advice you'd like to share? Anything about my strategy that works or doesn't work?
