Really, I replayed ME 20 times and every single one of those gameplays I romanced Garrus (except with MaleShep. FINALLY I could make an endgame with Kaidan romance)

That discussion was fascinating, I think it was put best when someone said that Turians have exaggerated alpha male characteristics from the tapered waist, the height, the sharp cheekbones, the imperious body language that plays on the subconscious. Even the flange effect in the voice enhances the masculine quality. Since turians speak and think on a relatable human level, it's not hard to start seeing them as cosplaying humans. Oh, I'm glad I found this thread! I'm playing ME for the first time, and really didn't expect to find Turians sexy at all (one would have assumed that we'd feel repelled by aliens?), so I'd been wondering why I felt so drawn to them. But you're right, they do have alpha male characteristics. And the voice has an authoritarian quality which adds to the effect. I'm still on ME1, so I can't romance Garrus yet, so I'll probably romance Kaidan for now (though I'm a little lukewarm on it atm), and see how it goes for ME2/3.

I've tried to romance Thane a bunch of times, but I always chicken out right at the end and choose calibrations.

Am I the only one who doesn't see Garrus as an "alpha male"? I mean, really, its GARRUS XD The shy adorkable nerd? Also my headcanon says, that back in the stone age, turian males build nests and stayed with the kids, while their women go hunting and are way more aggressive and dangerous than the males. So, Garrus is my fluffy, featherless kitty-raptor who leaves shiny things in Shepards room.

So, Garrus is my fluffy, featherless kitty-raptor who leaves shiny things in Shepards room. I don't know if others would say it's as I suggested. For all I know, my speculation about physical attraction towards Turians could be a bunch of hooey. What I can say is that my recollection of playing ME1 was the comparison of Garrus' pose to Kaidan's in the teammate selection. Every time I saw that cocky wide stance with the crossed arms, I kept thinking, "God. Damn. You're awesome." (Kaidan was sweet, poignant but I couldn't feel anything romantic towards him)

I personally like to consider the turians were just as meritocratic in their equivalent of the stone age as they are now, with women and men being chosen for societal roles based on their abilities and talents, not their gender. Unlikely. It's just basic evolution that the two genders are usually designed for specialized symbiotic roles. The species where there's virtually no difference between genders are species where they're all loners and only come together for breeding. If the species cohabitates then there's no reason not to give each gender a specialized role because, as anyone who plays RPGs can tell you, two specialists are better than two jack of all trades. What were we talking about? Oh! Turians! Frickin' Sidonis. If it wasn't for Sidonis I honestly wouldn't be sure turians even had a fear response.

Well guys, I'm sharing my fav turian stuff with you ^^ I have the official artbook and scanned the pages related to Garrus, Saren and turians in general. I've got the mods approbation to post them. Keep in mind those are concept arts. A little disclamer before I start : Extracts from "The art of Mass Effect universe" are copyright EA/BioWare and are posted for fan discussion under fair use principles Here I go, Garrus for ME2 and ME3 : I love those design *_* Saren, he has 3 pages just for himself And last, turians clothes studies :

I miss Garrus Facts. Garrus is so awesome he can even make that chuck norris meme good again.
I'll start.
The real reason the Illusive Man wants to control the Reapers is because he thinks he's finally found something that can protect him from Garrus Vakarian. He's wrong.

When is everyone going to read Sense and Flexibility so we can talk about it??? It's seriously the best fanfiction I've ever read. I can't read other fanfiction because it just pales in comparison!

I'll do that. But I strongly recommend you to read the comics I posted (and Tarysande, oh Tarysande! She is my favourite writer ) Have a link to the comics in question? Would like to look. Absolutely! Best Shakarian fanfiction ever comes from Tarysande, she follows the same Grace Shepard, Colonist and Hero of Elysium. She is a great writter, really. She has the best Garrus characterization I ever read and the best Vakarian family ever. Her Shepard rocks, Tarysande has one of the Shepards with the best background I ever read. Her best story arcs are: -Just Like Old Times (Garrus POV, ME1-ME2 with flashbacks) archiveofourown.org/works/539485/chapters/958217-Something Like Home (Garrus between ME2 and ME3) archiveofourown.org/works/555227/chapters/989966-Life Signs (totally invented mission in ME3 with Leviathan and Alien vibes; Shepard and Garrus POV) archiveofourown.org/works/409269/chapters/678774- Handful of Dust (post-game, in progress, so freaking cool, the best thing ever... trying to give response to the question: what happenned after the ME3 ending? All the twists, all the heartbreaking moments) archiveofourown.org/works/730073/chapters/1356289Bonus: Cold Skies, Keen Perils (Elysium Attack) archiveofourown.org/works/1037625/chapters/2069756 DevianArt comics:
The best two I'm following are: - The Spectre and Archangel (by ErsbethShadowsong). The artist rocks. You can see her enormous progression between the first drawings and the last one. Sadly, it's not complete and it seems like she is in a big hiatus. However, you have your smut www.deviantart.com/art/The-Spectre-and-Archangel-01-191559305 -Among the Stars (by iichna): her art style is impecable and very appealing. She is following the ME2 story with some changes. She is very good when she shows with her drawing the feelings of characters. It's work in progress but she keeps updating regularly www.deviantart.com/art/Prologue-Page-1-326622748
