Ooo I love to crochet. My mom taught me the basics over a decade ago and I took off from there. I'm the kind of person that takes years to finish one project because I keep putting it aside, and has a number of halfway complete projects lying around. For example, I have this crochet blanket I've been working on for seven years and it's only halfway done. I've completed a few beanies, berets, hand bags. Started some hand warmers two winters ago. The yarn is still under my bed. I also like to cross stitch. My current cross stitch project is halfway done, but I haven't worked on it in two years. I'm just too tired after work to do any crafts. That's my excuse anyway.

Now I have a rule, only make if I really want the finished result. But I still have a huge medieval tapestry that's been on the go for over 14 years.

Here's one piece I cross-stitched for my mum for xmas. Tiny stitches. I can't do uniformly sized, pretty knitting like she can, but as she's into crafts, this was pretty ideal.

This is one of my latest projects, my Mum wanted a teapot cozy so I went for it and made it over the top and full of flowers. Just made it up as I went along, it was fun. Now I'm making another for my Aunt, under the condition that I can cover that one in a mound of flowers too.

Well, maybe I need to get out more. Haven't seen a pair of knitting needles in a long time. There's an element of revival to the art of knitting. DIY and homemade got big, so people can turn knitting into cash pretty easily if they're good enough. On websites like Etsy.com, people sell knit blankets for a hefty price.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL I've backed off buying any projects until I finish the ones I have. xD Here's my first large cross stitch project--final dimensions 11"x14". I started it when I was fourteen and it took me nearly five years to complete. LOL This is the one I am currently on--started in 2009. Could easily have finished by now. Oh well.

This is the best thread idea ever! I'm currently working on a tapestry crochet blanket for my bed with Harlequin diamonds in alternating colors. It's going to take me forever, but this thread may inspire me to get back to it. Here is a pic of the pattern and the blog I got the pattern from. (The upper right image.)

Guise, I love your work!! I want to see it all! So I'm FINALLY making progress, seeing how I have frogged this, yes 18 times or more I can't even remember now, it's been hard to move forward. Which is what happens when you frog over and over again. Minor error but IDGAF it's full steam ahead, this is 1/3 done.

It's funny that you say that- I've looked at so many potential projects, got excited, then saw "crochet" awww man! lol I know how to crochet but I'm specifically looking to level up my knitting skills so haha, choices, choices!

Yeah I want to learn crochet too. I actually watched vids and all but I just have to actually buy what's required and get to it. Maybe a nice project would be incentive enough for me. I tend to want to do stuff and never really get to it. I have a lot of project in stand by in my head and I'm not even talking about the big stash of yarn/pearls/fabrics/origami paper and other treasures cluttering my place xD

Find a pattern, buy one crochet hook and yarn, and go. It isn't at all expensive. I absolutely never got ahead of myself and bought more yarn than I'll need for the next ten years. And a handmade huge wooden crochet hook. And a set of rosewood hooks. And some other hooks. And a book. And 3 other books. And pdf patterns. And a basket for it all. NOPE.

Knitting is beyond me. I don't know why, it just doesn't click in my head. Those knit hand warmers reminded me of my mostly complete handwarmer... I don't even know if I have the pattern bookmarked anymore and I don't remember why I stopped.

I'm a knitter (newb), sewer (intermediate beginner) There has got to be a better word for this. Seamstress? I feel like a seamstress is much higher level than I'm at. A lot of folks seem to call what I am a "home sewer" or something. It isn't like we pronounce the word like sewers where by flotsam flows, but "sew" as in sewing and "ER". This is one of my latest projects, my Mum wanted a teapot cozy so I went for it and made it over the top and full of flowers. Just made it up as I went along, it was fun. Now I'm making another for my Aunt, under the condition that I can cover that one in a mound of flowers too. Just wanted to tell you that this is super cute! I love all the colors and flowers on top- looks very difficult! I have a lot of project in stand by in my head and I'm not even talking about the big stash of yarn/pearls/fabrics/origami paper and other treasures cluttering my place xD I think this is the perpetual problem of a lot of crafty people My way of dealing with this (since I have ADHD) is to carefully organize and only allowing myself to pick up a new craft or project once I've made my peace with former ones or slot times to do them in the future so I can stagger my different things like sewing vs knitting. Setting goals just like with anything life, also helps. Knitting is beyond me. I don't know why, it just doesn't click in my head. Those knit hand warmers reminded me of my mostly complete handwarmer... I don't even know if I have the pattern bookmarked anymore and I don't remember why I stopped. @lyn, LOVE those handwarmers, wish you knew the pattern too because I'd make a ton of those! I like that color too. I tried to teach my 9 yr old daughter how to knit recently with several different gauges of yarn/knitting needles and it was like throwing water on a cat. Even though she was interested she felt like I was teaching her Greek, and I just conceded to teach her once she gets perhaps a year older and a bit more patient @vella: Just wanted to give you much love for that bias tape work, your large pattern matching, your fabric choices, and your lettuce edge hem! Really pretty dress! It's my personal goal to make the bulk of my own warddrobe within a few years. I'm also obviously going to be sewing a few key pieces for my kids. My first projects when I get back to sewing (don't feel comfortable doing it right now since my ankle is broken- normally I do a lot of standing and then sitting, standing and sitting, to cut fabrics, trace things, and reposition fabrics while sewing and checking my work) are button up collared shirts and some tunics with pleating and darts.

I did some digging through my bookmarks (I have so many gifs :S) and I found it! bethsco.com/2011/10/diamonds-and-dashes-fingerless-gloves.htmlPerhaps continually complaining about my hands being cold this winter will compel me to finish. I had that brown yarn and a green one that I was going to use to alternate. I'll most likely end up undoing it and starting over.

mrsanomaly Thank you! I'm really a lazy sewist. I use mostly jersey fabrics and coverlock (or is it overlock) machine and easy patterns. I like doing the basic clothes, nothing too fancy or difficult. For myself I make usually tunics and leggings because they are easy and quick
