- No quicksave? Couldn't find a key for it under key bindings, tried tappping F5 nothing happened. How can you launch without quicksave? This is...driving me kind of nuts, TBH. I checked, and you can't manually save during priority missions. Period. Autosaves only. How is this possible in a game that's supposed to be about exploration? If I die, I have to retrace several minutes because the game saves from the last objective I completed. If I accidentally trigger events that don't allow me to backtrack, I either 1) reload an autosave from a while ago or 2) keep going and ditch that piece of exploration. Maybe it's just me. I'm a compulsive saver. But the lack of manual save kind of kills my desire to explore during priority missions since I don't know if I'll get knocked back to an autosave and have to do everything over.

Good+ Definitely feels like a Mass Effect game! + Love the music + Not being tied to a certain specialization. I was on the fence when I saw the gameplay video but after trying it out, I loved how I can mix and match different skills together and the possibilities are endless. + New hair colors are awesome! + Nomad controls feels waaay better than mako! + Galaxy map is great, being able to see planets out the window of tempest is a good addition. + I love fast paced combat and Andromeda has the best combat yet in the Mass Effect series. + Beautiful landscapes. + Love the new kits in MP, looking forward to more classes. Bad- Character Creator: limited presets, unable to choose eye, mouth, brow, nose, ear shape on top of limited skin color range based on certain presets is horrible for a RPG game. Also, more hairstyles please! - Facial animation could use some work, but it is not game breaking. - Squadmates AI, sometimes it takes forever for them to respond to the attack command. I still wish I can order them to use certain skills like in previous Mass Effect games.

Mp is a an absolute blast. Feels like the needed evolution to ME3 multi. Kudos.
Network is having major issues. Host freezing, connection dropping, lag spikes, matchmaking being nonexistent for entire games, even taking 5 seconds to connect with your network so that it knows I put a mod on my AR. I played 8 matches and only 2 didn't have major stability or matchmaking issues. What's it going to be like when everyone has unlimited access to this game? My guess is unplayable during peak hours.
Now we know why the beta was cancelled.
My internet is 300 Mbps, 27 ping, 0 packet loss.

Good+ Galaxy map is great, being able to see planets out the window of tempest is a good addition. Easily one of the best RPG elements they added. Kudos to the Andromeda team.

This is going to sound nitpicky, but this is an improvement thread... So on the positive side: I did enjoy what I played so far and liked the characters I got to meet so far. I like Ryder's personality so far, I tend to go for the flippant response (or what the brain swirl thing is meant to stand for?). The first planet looked really nice.
The not so great:
Obviously the CC is horrible. Like other people have said, it kinda makes me less attached to my own Ryder if I keep going 'this was the closest I could get and it looks like 2000 other Ryders soon to be on a site dedicated to them.' - The make-up looks odd, not even the designs, but the way it looks on the face, the lipstick looks like a peel off sticker and the eyeshadow options are... well, there doesn't seem to be a normal option. No one covers their entire eyelid up to the brow with one colour but that is the most normal it seems (even this is a point da:i got better). - The hair should just be available to both sexes, that way everyone has more choice. (Also, I think I spotted a female NPC with an undercut not available to Ryder herself?) The lighter colours of the hair do look really flat, but that's nitpicky I suppose. - Please let us have more presets if they really can't fix the changing facial features and eyebrows thing -free up the skintones, there's already so little choice. - And maybe add more sliders, for instance let us edit the eyes (size, slant, how open or closed they look). Similar things for the other features, like sliders to change just the nostrils or have them flare less or more.
The eyes do look flat in game a lot (poor Suvi scared me), but adding a darker outer colour helps somewhat. What's weirder is that I think 90% of the time people who are meant to be looking at each other really don't. It's more off than in other bioware titles.
The animations look wonky at times, people keep saying the frog lip thing was fixed but I have seen it a few times and Ryder seems to be especially bad.
The animations in the galaxy map are nice, but a bit annoying when you're trying to get scanning done. It just eats time.
Also the lighting in the Tempest, when it's still docked is horrible. I didn't notice that anywhere else though.
Alec Ryder looked absolutely nothing like my twins - which I don't mind but I don't get it because why have the CC be so limited and still not have Alec Ryder look like his children? But maybe it was just mine. And honestly I'd rather customise in the CC to my heart's content than have a matching father.

Honestly? I really like it. RPS was completely wrong.
I'm an obsessive complainer who has bashed Inquisition over the past 3 years. I came home just now from a stressful day of work, thinking that my stressful day at work would make me even more critical going in. There was no way I could delay trying out Andromeda early access.
The intro was AWESOME! Way, way better than Inquisition's into! (sorry, don't want to bash it so hard). But it's TRUE.
The voice acting doesn't suck! For some reason in the gameplay footage released a few weeks ago I thought it would but... the sound-mixing that combines the voice acting and the environment sounds and everything... it works? It's orchestrated very well.
Facial animations and controls are definitely janky but so far I wouldn't consider them broken. I mean, it's not like polygons are spiking off peoples' face meshes. Dad Ryder's mouth and cheeks are just kind of....smooshy and weird when he's giving the launchpad speech before they ...you know... depart. From the pad.
Anyways, my favorite part so far was inside the kodiak when they're making the descent. I hope that's not too spoilery? I really loved how it was like a somewhat first-person, closeup experience of being inside the kodiak, watching the atmosphere burn through the long descent, hearing comm chatter and then meeting Liam while you're in the kodiak, with the helmets on and everything...
Yeah, the RPS guy just didn't really get it. He doesn't really get Bioware nostalgia, and honestly, I felt a bit of Bioware nostalgia in this game, and I am very pleasantly surprised.

I'm going from really loving it, to being very concerned...
1) I like the combat.
2) The graphics are pretty good, but also a little cartoony.
3) The voice acting is good but the writing (dialogue) is corny as hell, but cheese in space, I can live with.
4) The lack of manual save or quicksave is really, really bothering me. I don't understand what they are thinking here. This is a Bioware RPG. Quicksaving is bread and butter. This is almost a game breaker for me. I hate redoing sections when I die.
5) The opening planet is dull and bland and a mistake to use it I think.
Despite these issues, I can't wait to get back into it.There is something special here underneath all the flaws and I just hope with a few patches they can sharpen things up. I can't see it reviewing that highly, maybe 7 or 8.
Oh and dear god, put in a fooking quicksave.

My current feed back has to do with the aim sensitivity. Basically it doesn't seem like you slow it down for 'aiming'. Which results in a lot of awkward 'to fast' feeling even with low zoom weapons. Makes it real difficult (especially on a controller) to do any fine tune aiming with out playing on low sensitivity. Which I'd like to play on a higher for general movement and slower when aiming.
Past that it feels great... course that's a pretty big part of it not feeling like crap sadly. -.-
Maybe I'm just missing a setting someone on console? All I see is X/Y for look and separate for nomad look. Maybe add in a another bar for a 'percent of' while specifically aiming? I'd jack up my sensitivity and crank aiming down to 30% if I could.
edit: That's not getting into issue of min vs max sensitivity depending on % of stick movement and linearity of it instead of an exponential curve. Basically if your on a high sensitivity your low end is to high, and it ramps up to quick (straight linear far as I can tell) to the max stick.
As other examples, CoD, Halo, Destiny, or Battlefield generally use more of a curve (% ends up being a multiplier) so your low-mid end have finer movement while high end is used for quick turns. And, of course, focus aiming slows it all down so you don't have that awkward 'sped up' feeling when you zoom in.

He doesn't really get Bioware nostalgia, and honestly, I felt a bit of Bioware nostalgia in this game, and I am very pleasantly surprised. They're definitely more than several obvious Bioware easter eggs (probably not the best term) scattered throughout the prologue. Having said that I did expect a little more from the writers concerning the dialogue (The only point I def agreed with RPS on). As much as the facial animations can be a bit derp derp the dialogue just seems innocuously bland/flat a lot of the time. Which is why I've had an issue with my Ryder... it feels like I don't have as much say in who the guy/girl is concerning their past and interactions once they wake up. Someone mentioned the auto-dialogue that occurs during non cut-scenes and that was spot on. Having been able to get my hands on it now I'm nowhere near as worried about the game as I was before though. It almost has a re-boot feel to it... I'm able to set aside the previous trilogy in my head while playing... and I honestly didn't think that was going to be the case.

I don't know... I don't agree with the people who want crazy swirly planets with pink and purple twisting shapes everywhere. If anything, every glowing, swirly plant or purple formation counts against Mass Effect's credibility and ability to represent a "somewhat realistic alien world."
Obviously nothing about Mass Effect is realistic, but the impression of space magic can be managed and controlled by deceptive mixture of the fantastical and bland (ie, featureless, arid worlds like Mars, which we know from real life, were almost certainly be lambasted as a boring planet by gamers - but that's the space we know).
No. I appreciate that Ryder had to seal up his helmet. I appreciate the respect for helmets in the opening mission. That's a huge complaint we used to have about Mass Effect, and it looks like they listened to it.

Ideally, even though I'm happily using default Scott (first time I go with default in any game where I can customize), I want better CC options for others' sake and on general principle. But the one major gripe I personally have is limited manual and quick saves. That just blows. Autosaves aren't enough (I usually turn off autosaves in other games, too).
Other than that, I'm on Chapter 2 and loving it. Combat is taking some getting used to coming off of a ME2 playthrough, but I dig it--even the soft cover system.

I've only just gotten to the Tempest, but I'll list my impressions from what I've played so far (I'll get the criticism done with first) - the game is beautiful, though I feel the lighting is a little flat at times? But overall it's just lovely to look at. The texture work is great, btw (as an avid texture modder, I always notice the textures first ) At times the shadows are a little weird, really only the character shadows - they tend to look like odd black blobs vs distinct shadows. That's the only graphical oddity I've noticed, though. Default Sara's hair physics seem off. The ponytail barely moves, and it's more like a twitch. I only mention this because the other ponytail in the CC seems to move better, so I'm not sure if it's a bug or not? There's an odd angular shape to the ponytail itself that makes me think it's a bug or didn't get finished, because the other hair all looks and moves very nicely. Kind of unfortunate given she's the default and you can't change her hair. The facial animations veer between being really good and...not. There hasn't been anything terrible, but there's definitely some stiffness and jank happening at times. The eyes tend to look too surprised, that really stuck out at me. The mouth animations don't look as noot noot-y as they did in previews, so that's nice. The npcs tend to have strange posture issues, both when static and when walking, like their spines are curving inwards too much. There's a weird thing, which I'm assuming is a bug, where an npc will suddenly twitch their shoulders, almost like a super quick, over-animated shrug, when you're talking to them. It's definitely not an intentional animation. It's not constant, but has happened a few times. Reminds me of Varric's weird squatting bug. The eye textures are not great. They're really flat and the whites of the eyes are too white and not shaded properly (I mean literally on the texture, not the actual shaders. The corners of the whites need to be darker.) The one cosmetic thing I would genuinely like to be worked on and patched, because it's super noticeable and tends to be distracting in conversations, especially when the skin textures are so highly detailed. Pc players will probably get a mod for it eventually, but it sucks for console players that won't have that option. the gameplay so far is really fun, the combat is much much improved from the OT imo, even just from the shooty-shoot gunplay I've been able to do so far. The animations are very fluid and feel like they have real weight behind them, it's just a joy to run and jump around the battlefield. I've had great performance on PC, at Ultra settings on a gtx 1070 and and OC'd 6600k - so not exactly a bottom tier rig, but I figured I'd mention it anyway. No fps drops that I've seen, and smooth as butter. The PC controls seem well-done so far. I love the running animations. Random, but I really do, lol. Also loving the family angle so far. It's definitely helped me connect to the Ryders more than I did with the Inquisitor, and even Shepard at first. I'm already invested in knowing more about their history and seeing the relationship between Scott and Sara. The companions and supporting characters that I've met all seem interesting and I especially like the increase in humor and general snappiness from the OT. There's already a camaraderie and an equal footing that obviously wasn't quite as possible with Shepard or even the Inquisitor, and I definitely get more of a relaxed, 'we're all in this together' vibe - these are people I could see playing poker and having a beer together already. I super, super appreciate it, it's a really nice change in tone. But most importantly, all criticism aside - this feels like Mass Effect, and more to the point, Mass Effect 1, but refined and expanded upon. This is basically everything I wanted from the game, and so far it seems like I got my wish. I'm very pleased with it so far, even if there are things I think could use some improvement.

I've really enjoyed it so far, definitely feels like Mass Effect, the only criticism I have after 2 hours: * character creator - would much prefer more choices (although I do love the colour picker for eyes etc - big improvement) * No saving in priority missions ... it was so hard to put the controller down after 2 hours, and it is going to be nearly impossible to draw the 10 hours out until release on 23rd, can't I just keep playing please, I won't tell

I reached the story gate in the EA Access.
Honestly?
It's not bad. Do I think it's going to rock this world? No. But if you're a fan of ME2 and ME3, I don't see why it's not a damn enjoyable game.
I love the combat so far. I love the companions we have. Andromeda so far has made me actually like the human squadmates which is remarkably rare for me.
I love the environments. I love the story so far. The Tempest and Nexus are amazing.
I am meh about the animations. I am meh about some of the dialogue as it tries to hard to be Whedonesque with its banter. I am meh about the desert planet (blanked on the name). Everything up to that point was great before it came to halting stop onto this planet. The Nomad is meh. It's not the Mako but it isn't something I particularly would write home about.
I hate the CC though. It's brutal how awful it is. I kinda get the logic regarding it but it doesn't change the fact that it is absolute shit.
I hate how you can't quicksave or manually save during a priority mission.
Seriously? Like who the hell thinks that is a good idea in an open world game?
Overall, it's a solid 7-8 from me. I need to see more but it's hardly the end all and be all that people keeps acting like it is.

I've spent about 4 hours or so in it. Probably 1-1/2 hours messing with settings and menus, 2-1/2 hours playing MP.
- Everything feels really, really different than in previous Mass Effect games. Menu structure, graphic design, music, everything. It still feels like Mass Effect, just really different.
- Yo dawg I heard you liked menus so I put some menus in your menus so you could bring up menus while you're in the menus.
- Bronze is hard without a good team. I'm sure part of that is due to the learning curve, and part of it is from having no manifest.
- The companion app is pretty cool. Too bad I can't use it while I'm in game though. (Edit: the app has started crashing a lot)
- Jetpacks are fun.
- Almost too many simultaneous commands for my fingers to keep track of.
- Power cooldowns feel a little too long. Even with power recharge gear and power recharge evolutions, it looks like the end of power spamming builds.
- Sounds are weird, like everything is happening up close sometimes, and there's too much mic feedback.
- Origin in game is busted, even though it works in ME3 for me. Could be a problem on my end though.
- MP is a lot of fun. It's great to have new MP stuff.
- Get on my friends list and carry me.

I have played for 4 hours so far. A few feedback:
- Love the game so far. It feels very Mass Effect. - Voice acting has been great. Character animation could be improved since it does not seem to match the voice sometimes. - I like Liam and Cora as the story progresses. Vetra, on the other hand, is likable at the first sight. - Holding E to interact is annoying sometimes. There should be an option to simply tap E to interact. - Combat is just so smooth and fun. The best in ME series, hands down.

I've played 2 hours so far, just past the prologue. Negative-The CC is a wasteland. I wasn't too devastated when the first previews happened, and I'm not a stickler for designing the most unique or perfect character I can, but now I get why people were so, so upset. It's utterly lackluster at pretty much every level. -The animations are not the best. It's not as bad as the initial previews, but it's still...not good. My favorite was watching Ryder "emoting" during a sad moment and laughing because it reminded me of this: -The dialogue so far has been average to good, but it feels weirdly paced. Sometimes it seems rushed, sometimes it feels like you could recite Sonnet 55 in the beats between lines -Nthing complaints about the autosave feature. It's not good for my anxiety to not have the option to save. Positive
-The voice acting is very solid - The prologue has a lot of nice touches and some reactivity, depending on what you do while exploring. - Liam is great- he has one scene that was kind of dodgy, but otherwise I've really been enjoying his banter with Ryder and Cora. - The planetary environments are A+ so far - Combat is fun! I'm enjoying the new visuals on Overload and Incinerate, and I haven't missed the ability to pause as much as I was afraid I would. - It feels very Mass Effect-y over all Neutral-I want a jetpack, but I can't have a jetpack.

Feedback after just about 1,5 hrs so not too far into the story. No combat yet. - This is Mass Effect to me, I really enjoy playing. I had goosebumps during the entire intro I love the voice of FemRyder and am happy to hear that there is so much banter and talking. As someone who had the banter-bug in DA:I, that I just didn't have any banter in one PT it is nice that it feels so lively. There are people around you talking and doing their things. - Some things I really liked about the CC. As a player who never got a hang of the sculpting that you needed to do in DA:I this feels much more accessible to me. I only had one character that I really liked in DA:I and that was after many many painful hours, and then I couldn't import and reuse that face in a new PT with a different worldstate because there was no such feature. I just never got a hang of where I needed to go in the boxes. Too freeform for me. I have already managed to create a Ryder who I am quite happy with in ME:A. The best thing is that I will be able to import her again and tweak a little, reuse my favorite character in a different PT. For me that means more replays so thank you for making it possible to download your favorite characters again! That is something that means the world to me. And I really love having the asian and black character presets because I haven't been able to create good asian PC's before. For me that is novel and much much appreciated. The things I miss about the CC. Having access to the hair from the mens side, there are some really good affros and I would enjoy using that for my black FemRyder. Freckles would be great, and opening up so you can use more skintones, lighter and darker. Will return with more feedback later on when I have played more. Can't wait to see more of it

I've played up until halfway through the prologue, just after first contact, and am LOVING it.
Also, the reports about facial animations are (as ever) GROSSLY exagerrated.
Loving the mobility and fluidity of combat. CHaracters seem great! Voicing is really on point. The setting looks very interesting! All in all, I am excited to continue playing tonight!

I only got an hour in last night and have to head to work now, but for my 2 credits' worth of very first impression:
I love the characters already. Really, really love Sara more than I expected. Frydda did an outstanding job. All the VAs are so far. In the interest of saving time I went with the default and am happy. I'm not having any problems with facial animations.
Alec is awesome. His nose is too shiny, though.
I love that the NPCs have a bit so say as you go along and speak with them rather than just "Ryder." It isn't a lot, but it's enough to feel like they're actual members of the ship's crew.
Love the story and the fact that some questions I had were answered before hitting the shuttle.
Background is given without sounding like a tutorial. So far, it's all very conversational and natural.
Still getting used to the controls, but I'm sure I will. I don't care for using "shift."
Not so fond of the way navigation is done with the waypoints. That, I think is just my weird spatial ability or lack thereof. Maybe.
Andromeda is very much an explorer's paradise.
Combat is good. I haven't done much of it yet and just got to level 2, so hard for me to say yet.

I've put about six hours into SP. LOVE it! Every minute! It's a beautiful game. The galaxy map. Took my breath away. The facial and movement animations are amazing. Others can disagree, but seriously compared to older games... I've had a couple weird bugs, one where the scanner didn't want to stay up, but a quick quit/reload fixed it. Playing PC and my color changes on my wardrobe do NOT want to stay. Minor things that haven't taken away the pure joy I've felt playing Mass Effect again. I feel like it's Mass Effect (1) next gen. Everything I love about the series is there, and more! Thank you and everyone for this!
