So.. weird problem I can't figure out... why can I research all sorts of rare and uncommon weapons (both milky way and kett etc)... but I can't research Avenger Mk2 + or Mattock Mk2 + etc... I'm stuck being only able to manufacture the level 1 version of the basic weapons.. but I can make a level 3 N7 Hurricane, Valiant etc with no problems (I have those research options). Do I have to do something to unlock the ability to research and/or manufacture the basic milky way weapons? I want to manufacture a Mattock II or III and test it out.. but I can't So damn weird that the most powerful weapons are easy to research and develop, but the common / old ones seem unattainable.

Good question, was wondering about that myself. Don't have access to the game right now, but maybe worth checking vendors in the Nexus docks. Maybe they sell blueprints for those basic Milky Way weapons, or maybe they sell what you need to make the blueprints (still unclear on how that works in the game, unlocking new research options...)

Those weapon blueprints scale with your level.

You buy it from your laptop on the ship, then if you havd the right stuff to construct it you can build it, Left is buy the prints and right is construct,on the laptop.

Those weapon blueprints scale with your level. This. Some weapons and armors level unlocks when you level up. Just go in the develop menu and look if you have them, if not you need to level up some more.

As the other's have said, as you gain levels, you gain the unlock to research higher tier weapons. I believe it was around level 12 or 14 which allowed me to research Tier 3 weapons, and having just his 18 I think it is, I now have Tier 4. The rarity of the Weapon is just how easy it is to find the blueprint - the actual researching level is tied to your Ryder's level.

You have to research level 1 of a weapon before you can research level 2, level 2 before level 3, etc.

As far as I've seen, there are several blueprints variaties (at least two). One that you have to research for, each new level unlocking for buy with research points at levels 1, 5, 10, 20 and 30. And another that you either get from loot or have it with you from the start of the game, I'm not sure. Those get level-upped automatically at the same level as researchable blueprints unlock. Avenger is the second type.

I encountered what must be a bug with the armour crafting. I'm able to research, craft and equip N7 Chest X, but only Rank 5 for arms, legs and helm.

Ohh my, lots of confusing contradicting stuff in this thread.
To put it simple: Theres (at least*) two kinds of blueprints. Theres the ones you have to research (for example n7 armor and the n7 eagle) and there are the ones that you get automatically at certain level thresholds** (for example the pathfinder armor and the avenger rifle).
So if you just continue to play the game and you will unlock higher level avenger blueprints without doing any research.
Its worth mentioning however that the level thresholds for unlocking the auto blueprints are not the same that unlock a higher level research project. The weapons you can research and then develop seem to allways be a bit ahead, but off course that comes with the cost of research points instead.
*Might be blueprints that are found, awarded from quests or bought as well, just haven't run into any at this time.
**There might be other requirments then levels as well, not certain at this time.
