I am sorry to bother op, but I have a similar question and I also dont want to create an additional unneccessary thread to avoid taking up space. Here is my question:
I am currently using charge, nova and backlash. However, since charge isnt a primer and nova isnt a detonator I have a hard time getting a combo with these two. I am looking for a replacement for nova, but I don't know what else I should pick. However, I want to keep backlash and charge, as I like going into close combat. I am also playing on hard. Also, I am unsure how well singularity works with charge.

Thanks guys for all the good tips, will look into them. I was using Backlash a bit since I was running out of Ammo. It sure seems to be helpful to stay alive, but it's not that fun. It's hilarious though watching fast-shooing enemies' health drop fast. So some of you are saying AoE Pull and Singularity can work together then (they serve different functions.) I did evolve Pull to take off some enemy shields as well, so I think that will help. I haven't messed w/ the Vanguard profile or Charge. Would need to re-spec for that. How squishy and dangerous though does Charge make things, at least on higher level difficulties? I messed w/ a Vanguard on Hardcore in ME2 and died a lot lol. Yeah I want a Sniper Rifle I think, or a better SMG. I need a mod to take down the weight of the sniper rifles though. Do you guys invest in Combat passives for your weapon type of choice? The passives are really only worth it if you have a lot of points in the tree. That said, combat fitness is really really good. I think so far I have rank 3 in assault rifles, rank 1 in shotgun, rank 2 in barricade (and this allows to spec into locked skills) and then I hit up concussive shot rank 2, combat fitness rank 3 and I also have Combat tools rank 1. I have 20 points invested in the combat tree and its the tree I have the least amount in. I have 22 in Tech and 24 in biotics, currently level 16, just to give you an idea of where I am at with passives in the combat tree.

i've been loving push, pull, and concussion shot. push and pull are great together, just grab a guy and hurl him over a cliff. concussion shot is ok for getting rid of armor and shields, great for knockdowns, and push and concussion are detonators for pull. the best though is to grab a guy, throw him straight up in the air, and the skeet (sKeETT) shoot them with a homing concussion shot

I'm struggling to find a good biotic build. I'm about level 10. Singularity seems too slow to refresh, so was messing w/ Pull and Throw. Also tried Backlash - that helps keep me alive and buys some time. I'm on Hardcore. Usually I played ranged biotic in the other games. Shields are kind of annoying for me now. What are some fun, synergistic builds? I'm ok w/ going w/ some Tech or Combat also. I only really have the Adept profile going now, so that may be gimping me. Charge, Annihilate, Throw. Activate Annihilate, Charge, and your target is auto-primed so you can instantly hit Throw on the thing you just charged for a nice biotic explosion. Then shotgun the rest until you can charge again, or detonate, but typically I run with the reegar carbine. Hold and aim the stream, and whatever's left melts in a very short amount of time.

Powers don't deal damage on higher difficulties, if you want a biotic build you have to go for powers that help you shoot and stay alive.
Annihilation field together with biotic passive can increase your damage to everything it touches by 40%. Charge can be specced for huge damage resistence and full shield regen and also some weapon damage. Backlash is a good biotic ability to stay alive and to reflect enemy fire and also can be specced to increase your damage or survival.

I find that Charge, Singularity, and Backlash is the optimal skill selection for my Biotic which ends up playing more like a vanguard due to charge. As the poster above says, any one single biotic is not going to be lethal at the higher difficulty. Which is fair because the other guys are going to run out of bullets and tech charges real fast and you have not limit on the number of times you employ your biotics. But defensive utility biotics tend to be the best ones at high difficulties because they keep you alive long enough to use them again.
Charge and Backlash are the easiest ways to survive while simultaneously dealing damage at the higher difficulties.
Charge grants you a 5 second buff where you gain 75 damage resistance and simultaneously grants you a 3 second damage buff and instantly refills your shields when rank 6.
Backlash reflects bullet damage multiplied by 220% which is a pretty adequate way of breaking shields or even killing enemies. It also soaks huge damage when leveled up which is perfect for surviving until you get your charge back. Unless it gets broken the CD on it is trivial. I put it up every time I kill my target so I can quickly get a look around to pick my next target. It takes some practice to be good with backlash but it is amazing once you figure it out. It also grants 75 damage resistance even when you can't block what's coming. So if getting hit is unavoidable, it will at least mitigate some of the damage.
Couple charge and backlash with the kett carfalan (sword that heals your hp with every melee) and you can soak through damage quite adequately even on the higher difficulties while making the lower difficulties completely trivial. And of course singularity is the single best biotic in the game for for killing... well quite literally anything when combined with a solid detonator such as charge. It also is one of the best, if not the single best AoE (very long) crowd control ability for unarmored enemies and on top of that all it deals significant damage from range, with tracking.
I played my character pure biotic until about level 30 when I took literally everything I wanted from the biotic tree. I then branched into combat to optimize my firearm damage and pick up the melee and defensive passives offered there as well as eventually unlock the powerful vanguard profiles.
Now I'm in the 40s... got everything I want from both Combat and Biotic... not even sure what to go for now...
