I don't understand why it was an intentional design decision by Bioware Montreal to not have ambient music play when visiting hubs and exploring planets, but it boggles my mind that they did that. The music in Mass Effect is one of the things the stuck out for a lot of fans. I know so many people when they think of Mass Effect 1's music, they immediately have Virgil or Noveria's theme playing in their head. Music enhances the atmosphere, and helps breath life into your game. It's dawned on me earlier, that part of the reason I'm bored visiting the Nexus, is the silence of it all as your running down the halls and hear nothing but your footsteps.
If they make a sequel, one of the things they need to change is bringing the music back imo. Mass Effect has always had beloved and unique music. They should not be getting rid of that. Especially if they wanted to recapture the feel of Mass Effect 1 with this game, since they've been hammering that point for awhile.

Glad that one of my least favorite features of DA:I is back It ticked me off in DA:I as well, but even that game broke up the silence every once in a while with 10-20 seconds of music.

Speaking of DAI, did you notice the MEA opening music is parts of DAI's main theme?

Reminds me of future Redcliffe's version of it. Varric even contacts the Pathfinder! LOL I am loving everything about the game, but I do think more music would be a great way to enjoy it even more!

I love it actually...means I can play music in the background for the boring grind of planet scrubbing.

Yeah i tend to like music going at all times, so it is a bit bothersome, but it was way worse in DA:I. Companions never talked there, and you were on foot the entire time because the mount sucked. Here you are mostly in the Nomad and people are talking, or on foot fighting and then there is combat music. Wouldn't hurt to throw in the soundtrack in the background though.

When i listened to the soundtrack already available on YT i thought: "oh, this must be the background music for exploration part only...right? I mean, where is the actual music, you know, the ones which makes you feel the action, the emotions and the drive to go foward?" this looks like babysleep songs

Yes. Music can make a huge difference in a game.
I was so disappointed with ME3 Earth music, WTF was that? Suicide mission by Jack Wall was one of the best in the series, and the climax of the ultimate war in the galaxy had such shitty songs.
I guess I'm gonna be disappointed again, won't I?

Suicide mission by Jack Wall was one of the best in the series, and the climax of the ultimate war in the galaxy had such shitty songs. I guess I'm gonna be disappointed again, won't I? Honestly, the lacking music in Priority: Earth, more than anything else, set up my disappointment in the ending. I was expecting epic, and instead I got... whatever that combat track was. For whatever reason, that track was weirdly offputting to me. Music is the unsung (ba-dum) hero of games and movies. The right music completely changes a scene. The excellent music was part of what made both important scenes and exploration so enjoyable in The Wi- Okay fine, a different example. Journey was a visually gorgeous game, with a beautiful multiplayer mechanic. But at the end of the day it would not have been nearly as memorable without Austin Wintory's heartachingly beautiful soundtrack accompanying it. Listening to Threshold () while exploring a vast, empty desert imparts a frolicksome mood to the experience. Hearing the soaring strains of Apotheosis (; imo the most beautiful piece of music ever written for a game) makes the climax of your Journey purely transcendent. Throughout the game, the music enhances the emotions you should be feeling, while engaging you during the down moments, the lulls in the action. The only feeling I find is imparted by excluding music during long periods of exploration is loneliness. And the only game I have ever played that used this to good effect was Shadow of the Colossus, because you're supposed to feel small and lonely and insignificant in an empty forbidding waste. DA:I and ME:A are not about oppressive loneliness. They are about companionship and curiosity and wonder. It's unfortunate that Bioware aren't using their soundtracks to reinforce that, and giving the player something to consider beyond the emptiness when they're exploring their worlds.

When you visit vaults the music is from ME:1 when you were on planets in side quest buildings. When you are in the starmap its the music from ME:1 starmap.
Just sayin.
