Little do you all know that you are all part of a focus group to determine whether having an AI in your head is bearable.

We need to develop a way to remove him from our brains. No way in hell I want that thing in my mind to the end of my days. I still don't understand this Bioware cliche of having your protagonist "permanently" changed by something. the Wardens MUST be infected with the blight. The Inquisitor MUST have a permanent mark in their hand. Shepard MUST have cybernetic implants after being resurrected. Ryder MUST have a permanent connection with SAM. Is there some rule in gaming that prevents your protagonist from being formidable without having some aspect of his/her life changed by some kind of trauma? Probably. Fallout 4, PC sees a very traumatic thing at the beginning. HZD Aloy has the Focus and that thing with her birth. Skyrim you are the Dragon Born. KOTOR the PC's secret identity. I think it's a pretty well-established trope to make the PC "special". This goes for many many games outside of Bioware.

I'm okay with SAM but in general there are far too many reminders about the bleeding obvious from SAM and the squad, which does get a bit annoying.

I only find him annoying during high-pressure missions when he's talking while I'm moving or killing enemies. I need to concentrate, please shut up for 5 MINUTES.
Besides that I don't mind SAM. I hardly notice him mentioning anything when I'm in the Nomad about hazardous shit.

The worst is on the Tempest: Strike Team ready for deployment. " -"Thanks, AGAIN. Don't give a shit. " It also interrupts crew convos for additional annoyance. THIS! I don't give two shits about multiplayer. I don't appreciate EA's advertisements in the damned game (come to multiplayer! it is warm and cozy here! And don't forget to drop you creds on some sweet micro-transactions!). Ugg! Seriously, almost all of Natalie's Dormer's lovely diaoluge in the research corridor begins with SAM's dumbass reminder about multiplayer. IN addition, SAM's mining/temperature/multiplayer-advertising voice cuts off alot of banter and npc dialouge on the planets. On Veold, I missed so such of the conversations around those little space heaters because SAM had to tell me the damned temperature over and over and over again! When they said that the game had 1200 lines of dialog, they should have warned us that SAM would be talking over shitloads of them!!! Also...a better use of SAM (instead of constantly reminding me to use my scanner to look for glyphs) would have been to have him give a decent tutorial on the RandD and the menu system. Better yet, they should have had SAM yell out the FPS on my PC every 10 seconds, so I could get a constant reminder about the friggen frame rate drops. In summation...love the game, but wish SAM would shut the hell up.

as has been said that if SAM who is linked with you beyond what anyone has ever saw, would end up probably killing you if SAM was removed. Besides the way I see it now is that you Ryder is a new being - which reminds me of the Synthetic ending for Mass Effect 3 where AI and Organic merged together to be a new race and that's how I see it now, that Ryder is now a Synthetic thanks to having SAM merged with you a new being. Course I know that some will not agree with this, but that's how I see it that from the point that SAM is merged with Ryder that Ryder is something new a Synthetic which is permenant I think especially again when you are told that removing SAM would kill you

In summation...love the game, but wish SAM would shut the hell up. In general it's always best to just stop moving completely when listening to ambient dialogue. It's especially true in MEA when there is just so much of it. Oh and SAM doesn't mention mining nodes unless you have the mining detector opened.

Thanks! Still, the thing blinks to let you know, so his voice is totally unnecessary. I do stop moving to listen, but when the you have to move near the lamps to trigger and then hear the NPCs on Veold, and then immediately get SAM's update on the temp, it sucks.

It's really not that hard to understand, if you even give it the smallest amount of thought. SAM serves both as a narrator and a guide. Most gamers prefer having someone / something else do this, rather than have the main character utter to him/herself. People also loved EDI. Which seems you didn't. SAM's function, abilities or importance to the plot has nothing to do with what I'm saying. I'm talking about Bioware's cliches with protagonists. SAM's role in the game could have stayed exactly the same without the "forced connection" with the player. "Disconnecting him might kill you!" Oh please... They grounded a system within the realms of the plot. Cliche or not, there's a reason for it.

I'm more worried that the Krogan is the only one questioning putting an AI in their head. The Zha'til from the Prothean cycle where created when the Zha put AI in their heads that could alter the physical body. Exactly the same thing. Its like a shadow hanging over my Ryder. That was my exact thought when they first mentioned this. I was like "Wait...haven't we just spent an ENTIRE TRILOGY explaining and showcasing the dangers of AI? wtf is going on here!?" It makes me uncomfortable and suspicious and theres no option to ever say that this is a horrific idea that could get us all killed.

It's annoying when you're on the Tempest and everyone is shouting on top of each other. Peace and quiet is a rare luxury in Andromeda it seems.

"He" acts like one of those overprotective parents, evaluating your every step and warning you not to walk to fast. He's WAY overused. "SAM can you check this", "SAM can you check that", "SAM what is this", "SAM, my diaper needs changing".... Last night was doing the mission on H-047c, and to get access to one of the bases you had to collect 3 datapads each containing a part of a password, and guess what, you needed SAM to assemble the damn password , something you'd done yourself in BWs older games, that's how retarded they think players are nowadays.

It's really bad after awhile. He should only notify you when your life support is at like 2 bars or something. Voeld is bad, but dear god... who'd have thought you'd hate a game for desert and shadows. SHUT UP SAM!
I also hate the fact that SAM's stupid updates will sometimes cut off Ryder or the others while they are talking, even during important story moments. I found myself stopping and standing still when people were talking to make sure he didn't cut off important story elements.

After reading here about SAM, I'd say he reminds me a bit of DAI's requisition officer, whose unwavering annoying helpfulness (which could, though, be avoided by running away screaming every time you'd meet her in a camp) resulted in a homage video:

Honestly, after awhile I just stopped hearing him blather on and on lol. My ears just tuned him out 90% of the time, and only started listening again during main quests. It's inane, but personally I am far more annoyed by the stupid Sudoku puzzles. any puzzle in an RPG annoys me. Puzzles should be left to Facebook. and the reasons they exist is even more annoying : a sudoku to open a Vault, that's all a super advanced terra forming mysterious civilization could come up with ? like the silly hopscotch in DA:I , to think they were elven rituals ..hahaha . gotto love RPG's for the sublime and the ridiculous. Puzzles represent situations where protagonists have to use their brains. I think these situations should arise. The problem: your protagonist is usually smarter than you are, and even if not, you as the player wouldn't want to spend as much real time to solve a hard problem as the protagonist gets to spend simulated time. Imagine the situation as if it were real: your protagonist encounters these super-mysterious artifacts. There would be weeks, if not months or years of analysis, mostly done by someone else. Teams of linguists and specialists in cultural analysis would try to understand them. Perhaps someone would eventually find a rosetta stone and be able to read it, and only then could the artificts be activated. How would you represent such a thing in a game? The easy puzzles can be annoying, but I think they do their job reasonably well, especially if the only feasible alternative is to take these situations completely out of the players' hands and simply tell you "You open it" after a suitable delay and maybe a cutscene showing some scientists explaining things to you. Would you find that satisfying? Also, the puzzles change the pace of the game, which IMO is sorely needed with all the excessive combat and the collection tasks.

"Ryder, this area is rich in minerals and viable for mining. You can deploy your probe here and bla bla bla" ROFL! So. Much. This! My goodness! I want to like SAM, I do, but the constant reminders about the temperature or mining or whatever other inane things he drones on about are so annoying! Hopefully, one of Bioware's future patches will give us the option to mute him when he's not saying something important to a quest or something like that.

I was annoyed with SAMs shit until I got to Elleeden. I'm not even shitting you right now, for 4 minutes straight Drak just kept going "Ryder Worm" to warn me about the damn thing. He repeated it every two seconds like I hadn't heard him the first 40 fucking times. I eventually had to pull the nomad over and flamethrower Drak right in the face. It obviously didn't do anything, but it felt cathartic. SAM can knock on my door every morning and preach about the good book of AVP outstanding all he wants, but if I hear Drak say anything about that worm one more god damn time I'm going to drown him in acid. That must be a glitch or something because I've been all over Eladen (sp?) and I haven't had this problem with Drak... and I take Drak with me everywhere. Like, he may have said it once or twice but nothing like you've experienced.

Where SAM bothers me the most is actually on the Tempest. Whenever I go near that holo table, it alerts me about strike teams ready to deploy. It's Kelly Chambers' notices every time I pass her by all over again. They really should patch it to tone down his input on the field as well.
