They just seem so flat and lifeless and completely uninteresting after the colorful races from the previous games.
If the Kett wiped them all out I would be doing good to muster up even fake sympathy.

I so far don't care much for their character and society. I mean, I'm okay enough with it, but I don't care.
However, I do care a lot about their potential. Which is so far only starting to be realized in MEA (stuck more to plot reveal).

I am fine with the story, I like the idea that we arrived in this new frontier and its already settled with its own problems, its anti alien groups and their troubles with the Kett.
That said I am having a really hard time with the character models, for me the design and overall look of the race is weak. I end up not really looking at the screen when I have to interact with them and that in turn is damaging my enjoyment of their story.

I like them. One of my best experiences with the game was just running around on Aya and talking to every NPC i could find there. They really fleshed out the setting with those conversations and showed how wary they were of outsiders. The design does leave a lot to be desired though, but keep playing and Interesting stuff happens.

I like them and think they are interesting but can't help thinking they look like frogs standing on their back legs, esp when they run (which makes me laugh every time I see them running). I especially like that we get to meet both the males and females and the females play such a big role in their society.

I thought they were kinda boring, except for Jaal, until we learned that were created by the Jaardan. That left me so many questions and I want to know even more now. The most prominent question is though just how old or young are they? They only have records as far back as about 80 years but have a history that is around only 400 years old. Is that like how young their race actually is? Are there are no surviving records before that because they didn't actually exist yet?

I find them rather 'unexotic' when it comes to their personalities. Unlike some people I'm fine with humanoid appearance, because I realize it has gameplay/development reasons. But human psychology again? Meh. Contradictory I've found Roekaar catchy enough despite their pretty human logic. At least they have goals, unlike other angarans which just let it flow and lazily try to survive. I like them and think they are interesting but can't help thinking they look like frogs standing on their back legs, esp when they run (which makes me laugh every time I see them running). I especially like that we get to meet both the males and females and the females play such a big role in their society. When I learned about their families I can't see anything but purple lions in them. They even have goddamn manes.

Hmmm I guess they're OK. Just that. BW didn't put a huge effort into them but for now, they'll do. I like them and I think they have potential.
I am just waiting for future installements to see what else the galaxy has to offer.Heleus is just too small compared to the whole scope so it only makes sense only 1 race lives there.Who knows how many other interesting races are outside the cluster? I hope they expand the lore.
I hope EA doesn't can the franchise because of the negative criticism (It has huge flaws of course, but it has a lot potential to become better especially if it is made a trilogy.

Well, I don't care on the same level I do care about the MW-Races (especially the ones MISSING SO FAR...thanks EA-Ware for probably making those races, including one of my favourites, the Quarians (!), into DLC (so far we haven't heard that they are in the game yet, so the reasonable assumption is that they are DLC!)) I would probably care more if there were MORE aliens, sadly we have the bots (the Remnant and you can't really talk with them and sadly you don't get a true remnant A.I. as a companion (now THAT would have been a worthy successor to Legion - Sex-Bot (EDI with that new body) wasn't...despite the fact that I wanted EDI with a body, but I would have prefered some heavy mech (Ymir!) or other combat mech (!) and not an "infiltration unit" (that lacks any capability for that after you shoot it up and EDI never replaces the synthetic skin either sadly!)), the Kett (who I care only as far as I like shooting them - not that I wouldn't work with a true rebell faction within their empire, if there is one!) and the Angara (the only friendly aliens in Heleus)...hell, my problem with the Angara is that they are supposedly this great civilization but (even without the end-game spoiler about them - people who have finished the game know what I am revering to!), but all we see is lost glory (how a species could have let another (the Kett) walk all over it and reduce it to that (they are barely hanging on to a few planets and are even powerless to stop a badly equipped faction of Exiles from the A.I. from taking over one of their trading ports (Kadara!)...hell, they kind of don't even want to (except the crazy Roekar (spelling?)...I kind of pity Jaal!) Note: If there were more friendly aliens there's of course the "risk" that I might chose another favorite over the Angara! (Just like in the MW some people like the Turians very much, while I like certain Turians but have other favorite races (Krogan, Quarian, Asari and even the Salarians (STG!)...especially because I think that the Turians should have faced repercussions for the First Contact War (harsh reparations! You don't open fire on people who don't fucking know anything about you - much less your laws!)) greetings LAX ps: The Angara are a little bland, too (writing is a major weakness in MEA, at least at certain parts - others were IMHO done very well )

I thought they were meh. The Moshae was all right and helped moved the plot along, Avela and Evfra were cool, but I thought the angara's design was a rip-off of the Twi'leks and their characterization was scattershot. Jaal was a wimp and he was the one I saw the most.

Looking at what BW COULD have done with the premise, they are just not alien enough to be interesting... I mean, they're basically walking solar batteries with emotional issues... very creative.
