When on Aya, Ryder can forward messages to the Nexus written by angaran citizens addressed to their new alien Milky Way visitors.
One specific message caught my eye.
"Subject: Why are you here?
What impulse drove your people to cross darkspace? What have you come here for? Do you expect us to believe you're just explorers who want to live in peace? I think you fled something terrible. I think it might follow you here."
Notice those last 2 sentences. Devs pulled a sneaky one us. This just sums up all of most the fans concerns whether the Initiative was a cover up to flee the Reapers etc. It wasn't placed there just for no reason. Right?

There is a lot of winking towards fans of old trilogy, with different level of elegance. This one is good. I wouldn't expect (want) a Reaper DLC from it, but it's a good reference and logical question to ask regardless. Still some dark parts of the Initiative are going to be uncovered eventually, since it's already a thing in the game.

Those last sentences just sent a chill down my spine as I remembered Sovereign from ME1 and how terrifying the Reapers were.

While i really like the reapers being one of the secret motivations for the andromeda initiative, i stil am concerned that the "official" reason given is just exploration. It's such a childish excuse that makes little no sense, and everytime someone attempts to be serious about it, it breaks immersion for me.
A better one could have been that the expedition was after some highly prized material, maybe one that had the potential of kicking out a technological revolution in the milky way. Say something that allows FTL travel much faster, so relays are no longer needed. The expedition's goal is to get this substance, stockpile and figure it, then come back, get rich, and kickstart this revolution.
It would explain the most logical reason people would join: for getting rich, besides starting a new life. There has to be a damn good reason why people leave their galaxy other than exploration - because the milky way is vastly uncharted yet.

Spoilers for the epilogue. After you finish the main quest line you encounter an NPC who excitedly tells you they received a message from the Quarian Ark, strange thing is that the message was a warning to stay away and I have a theory why.
A Reaper followed them to Andromeda.

This all but confirms to me that those thinking that MEA+ is never going to relate to the trilogy, are wrong. A fresh start is not a restart, or an eternal avoidance of the past, or whatever similar things. Its a way to clear the table, but not replace it. A way to more comfortably experience new things, not never experience the old again.
Of course its not a total confirmation. But it shows what can be on the writers' minds, on Walters' mind.
That said, it can easily also be a sort of thread to either never be followed up on, or that gets followed up on in another way as storylines change. Obviously, this sort of message can be interpreted in many ways, even if the most obvious is, well, damn obvious.

... What impulse drove your people to cross darkspace? What have you come here for? Do you expect us to believe you're just explorers who want to live in peace? I think you fled something terrible. I think it might follow you here." ... For me this sets up one very serious conflict with the original series. Reapers entire setup is based on waiting thousands of years until the latest 'smart' biological's evolve. Come in from dark space and kill them all off, repeat over and over. The key is they HAVE to get everyone or else when they come back again there will be a really PO'ed race of people who have another 50,000_ years of tech gain not to mention the time to prep for the return. It would be very bad news for the Reapers. Now considering the scale of the Andromeda Initiative both in terms of construction, technology and total number of people there had to be tons of records left behind for the Reapers to find out about "The Great Escape" If you were the Reapers you would have NO other choice but to chase us all to Andromeda. Personally I want to be done with the Reapers, That story line is played out, I don't want to see them in DLC or another ME game. But that is the kicker, even without that letter the races from the Milky Way have to know that Reapers could show up unannounced at any time, how can anyone totally ignore that? Its another BW 'waving of the hands. just ignore another plot hole. Siggghhhhh

Reapers have no reason to go to Andromeda. The Ai was fleeting geth? News to ..all of us, really!
(It was fleeting Reapers, or at least the increasing prospect of the Reapers arriving.)
But yeah, the Quarian matter itself may not have to have a Reaper in it. Maybe story of that stuff, but not a Reaper itself.

Of course, this could mean nothing... Maybe it was put there to reflect us the players with all our "Why are we even going to Andromeda ?" and "it must be because of the reapers" attitude.
But I just have this feeling that it means something. It's way too obvious. But it is subtly hidden where a player can easily just miss it.
Anyway,if the Reapers reappear in the plot of future games, it won't be an invasion scenario or anything. There cannot be one since the endings have already happened.Remember? Which means we may get like one Reaper who tried to follow the arks and investigate yadda yadda...

The Andromeda Initiative did mention that they used a Mass Relay telescope that the Geth built.
They probably were using it to observe the position and movements of the Reapers, but as far as contingencies go attempting to flee to Andromeda wouldn't be that hard for them since all they really need is power to keep their systems running.

Hell, I always assumed the Geth Dyson Sphere was their attempt to flee to Andromeda.
They were going to say, "Screw this noise" and get the hell out of dodge.
Then the Quarians ruined it by sending a proton torpedo down the Geth exhaust port.
Which is why we can't have nice things.

In MEA2 we learn that the canon ending is Refuse, since that was allegedly the "fuck you" to players who didn't like the ending of ME3. We learn that since the Reapers can travel faster than the ODSY drive, they made it to Andromeda ahead of us. Ryder fully embraces Dad's N7 status and wages war again... OK, probably not, but I do think that was probably an Easter egg.

Not only it would be counter productive to the franchise by rehashing the cosmic horror all over again but it s not even possible.Even if 1 or 2 Reapers were sent to Darkspace to investigate after the Arks ,they're only ones left. The others are either destroyed, controlled or merged...so no more reaper invasions for sure. But one reaper arriving in andromeda...the very last of its kind which we could meet and talk to,it would tell us what happened (red green or blue) and that it no longer has a purpose blah blah and we can either destroy or preserve it. Now that! I d love to see!

I dunno, one Reaper would be okay.
I'd love to finally have a showdown with Harbinger.
Him escaping the Milky Way would be appropriate.

So it is possible the Reapers in their full strength, start the process of cleansing the Milky Way only to discover "The Great Escape." Giving them NO choice but to follow in large force to finish us off or risk their own destruction when they come back after the next cycle begins.

Spoilers for the epilogue. After you finish the main quest line you encounter an NPC who excitedly tells you they received a message from the Quarian Ark, strange thing is that the message was a warning to stay away and I have a theory why.
A Reaper followed them to Andromeda. Nah, I'm calling Geth.
Reapers have no reason to go to Andromeda. Geth don't really have a reason either.

Since I have not finished the game, only through the first three planets, I am not opening those spoilers as I do not want to ruin the GREAT (tongue in cheek) ending, so if there is more information pertaining to this subject I will have to wait By the way guys THANK YOU very much for putting it in spoiler format, I hate having a good forum thread ruined by reading a spoiler before I finished the game.
