It had a great plot and goddamn interesting and diversed characters. You don't talk shit about "Assuming direct control" it's an iconic line I think corridor shooting suits mass effect better than open world or something similar. Hammerhead was like a deep of fresh breath after Mako, still it was unnecesarry since exploration isn't really my thing. Galaxy map flying minigame was ridicilous but still better than driving around in an empty world with impossible to control Mako. Have to agree with you on idiotness of the Council Overall Me2 is the 2nd best Bioware game and 3rd best RPG in general in my opinion. I would rank the games as : ME2>ME3=>(slightly better) MEA>ME1 Assuming direct control is a good meme, but it just seemed really odd and kind of silly that he'd announce that at all. For any faults in the Sovereign dialogue, it at least sounded cool, but Harbinger is like Sovereign's Saturday Morning cartoon stand-in. a As for the Hammerhead, I have no words. I think what really made it worse though was the maps, which were ridiculous platforming levels. It kind of took me out of the game to do them, as if it was Shepard playing a video game within a video game.

It was the grey area you were in, how your crew were made up by outlaws, castoffs, vigilantes etc. what made it great was that Shepard did not care about anything anymore as his crew they wanted to tie their loose ends and were ready to die. This feeling alone gave it a unique charm. For hammerhead; we really used it in one level and it was easy to control I don't see the point.

Actually, we used the Hammerhead in multiple levels. That Firewalker DLC had a number of maps on a few worlds. In subsequent playthroughs, I just did Overlord, and the Hammerhead easily makes it the worst DLC in ME that I've played, despite the payoff at the end.
As for the outlaws, castoffs, vigilantes and whatever, that's cool, but I wish I was able to shoot Miranda and Jacob, especially if I was a sole survivor. Like, wtf, I'm with Cerberus? I would have gone Corporal Toombs on them.

As a sequel to ME1 it was a big letdown. I will try to summarise why I personally rank ME2 last: - Contrived reset of Shepard (Lazarus project) forcing into work for Cerberus for very weak reasons. - Jarring stylistic change from ME1 losing the retro vibes for generic sugarcoating. - Mission Complete and other loading screens. - "Assuming Direct Control" pantomime villain. - Trivialising the entire concept of the Reapers thanks to Harbinger and the Collectors. - Human Reaper made me facepalm with the cheesiness. - Corridor shooter with heavily dumbed down skill system. - Breather masks... (well those are still here sadly). - Superfluous squad members outside of a select few - some of the characters could have been condensed allowing more focus on Reaper plot. - Entire game of fixing daddy issues meaning less plot progression in key areas putting a LOT of burden on tying up loose ends in ME3, which led to further contrivances like the Crucible and rushed conclusions to Quarians/Geth and Krogan plots in ME3. - No Mako or exploration of any kind (Hammerhead was awful). I'm one of those that liked the Mako. - Galaxy Map stupid Normandy flying minigame - oh my God this was utterly stupid. I hated the Galaxy map in ME2 (and ME3). So happy the decided to do a proper MAP in MEA. - To add to the Galaxy Map issue, probing planets was painfully boring especially with the visuals they gave to planets - looked like dirty ugly marbles compared to the nice view we had in the map in ME1. - Handling of the Virmire survivor... - "Ah yes, "Reapers"." Council becoming even more dumb especially after the end of ME1. - Probably more I have forgotten... In a nutshell ME2 going totally off track with a nonexistent and laughable plot set up too much for ME3 to have to cover in one game. ME2 had some good things - squadmates like Mordin and Legion, music and I did somewhat enjoy the combat. But overall it was a very weak sequel to ME1 and weak link in the Trilogy. MEA despite also being contrived due to the conclusion of the trilogy is already head and shoulders above the nonsense of ME2, as it is at least trying to recapture something of what made ME1 great. I rank ME1 > MEA > ME3 >>> ME2. Really? I mean really? It had a great plot and goddamn interesting and diversed characters. You don't talk shit about "Assuming direct control" it's an iconic line I think corridor shooting suits mass effect better than open world or something similar. ME1 and ME2 are both amazing games in their own right, and ME1 is probably 2nd favorite game of all time. But if I were to look at it as objectively as I can, I would say:
ME2 > ME1 > ME3 > ME:A

I haven't finished yet, but I'm pretty far in so I feel a bit more confident in my ranking though
1: MEA. It's ME1 with a thousand times better gameplay. 2: ME1 3: ME3 4: ME2
ME2 is barely an RPG compared to the other titles, and pretty much a 90's action movie in space. And so over the top impossible and mildly ludicrous. Ressurected from death to immediatly and with barely any hesitation work for the leader of what you only know of as a crazy space terrorist human supremacist organisation. Right. Fantastic.

The plot was that present during the game so you can't even explain it by yourself.

I've enjoyed my time overall with Mass Effect Andromeda but it's not better than any of the instalments in the Shepard trilogy when considering them as a whole. It blows away Mass Effect's combat but the first ME exceeds it on so many other fronts.
Mass Effect 2 is still the best one in my opinion. If Mass Effect 3 had stuck the landing it would have been my favourite but the lacklustre slog through London was a poor final mission and the less said about the atrocious ending the better.
In short: ME2, ME1, ME3, MEA.

ME1 > ME3/Andromeda > ME2 for me, so it's tied for second place. ME2 would be second if it had had the multiplayer component of ME3/MEA, but interesting enough, ME1 which didn't have a multiplayer component either still takes the lead.

ME2 gets worse on every subsequent play through for me. Apart from LotSB, that shit is gold.

ME2 gets worse on every subsequent play through for me. Apart from LotSB, that shit is gold. I always save LotSB before the IFF mission because it's easily one of my favorite things in the entire trilogy, though if I'm putting aside my bias towards Liara, I can see why some people have issues with it. As a Liaramancer, it can sometimes feel like perfection. The only real downside, I feel, is Vasir. She should have been a more challenging fight, but she was ridiculously easy, which is really a pity considering she's the only vanguard we've ever encountered until then that could charge. As a whole, it doesn't really age well though. I can put plenty of replays into ME3 and to a small extent ME1, but I find myself not really feeling it with ME2.

If I were to classified every mass effect I would put like this
1. ME 1 2. ME 3 3. ME A 4. ME 2
Yeah I am among the one who really do not like that much mass effect 2, its not bad its actually good but I always thought why the hell did we spent a hole game for just killing a reaper and destroying the collector base? At best its an infantry outpost combined with a laboratory, the suicide mission is cool but in the end its pretty much useless for the war to come. We did sabotage but that's very small for a sequel
In the end I would say that with the exception of the first one, no mass effect left me with only satisfaction when I finished them
When I finished ME 2, I felt good at the beginning until I start thinking about it, and realize that the story did not progress that much and I felt like it was filler and that I needed to wait 2 more years for the real sequel to the main plot.
Mass effect 3 on the other end gave me more satsifaction at the beginning because I felt like it was a sequel I waited for 5 years, but the original ending made me depress for a long time until I got the extended cut.
Mass effect andromeda while still very good for me, I felt like the ending was a bit rushed and I really would have liked more space battles and actual foot battles that made me feel that all the races were united against the ketts. Here it feels a bit rushed and I think its a shame because I found that overall the game is really good.

It depends what we're ranking them based on. The elements that I liked and disliked for each are different enough that I don't think I can make an easily defined list - I liked the tone best in ME1, the characters in ME2, and the combat in ME3. As a package though I thought each of them had enough flaws that I can't say one was necessarily better overall.
I just finished MEA a couple of days ago and haven't really decided how it stacks up yet - I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either.
