Finished the game! 76 hours in and at 97 percent completion. I’m a big fan and active community member, so I felt entitled to my own review post.
First of all: the game is quite good. After a slow start, a tiresome (even frustrating) middle for a completionist, the ending is awesome. Epic.
The game looks good. There is a perfect balance in nods to the original trilogy, while still being a fresh start. The new loot system is great, hope they will keep it (no need to scan every corner while doing a priority mission that feels urgent). And the squad is cool.
But some things could be better. I’ll list them in order of unforgivable (1) to mildly annoying (25). I’m sure I missed some stuff while playing without subtitles, so please comment if some things in this list aren’t as bad as I think.
1. The same wildlife creatures on multiple planets, that's bad.
2. Pods to process people. Really, again?
3. I expected more aliens and them to be more exotic. Less humanoid, radical different traditions and a variety of levels of civilization. The Angarans are too human. They have similar biology, emotions and customs.
4. Just 14 months between arrival of Nexus and the time the game takes place doesn't seem long enough, especially on Kadara.
5. The banter on the Tempest and Nomad is fine, but the one-on-one-dialogue for squadmates after missions and worlds is too limited. At the end of the game I still barely knew them.
6. E-mail bomb after Kadara. At the moment you get the Archon’s location (which feels like a big priority) you also get dozens of other things to do (of which your gut tells you to do before hunting the Archon).
7. Come on, it isn't Mass Effect without exotic dancers.
8. One face for all Asari is strange, especially compared to earlier games. Did they comment on this already?
9. No storage and shooting range prevents me from experimenting with different weapons.
10. The scale here and there is too small for what's possible nowadays. Showing a noteworthy protest with just three NPC protesters is outdated.
11. With the murder case: attempted murder (with hard proof) is still reason for a conviction. No need to cover it up to serve justice.
12. There should be alien writing and numbers in alien places. Not just Angaran places, but also the Arks of the other species and some places on the Nexus. I know it can be augmented (that technology is already available on smartphones right now) but still.
13. Peebee's eyebrows should be explained.
14. Open worlds feel too functional, instead of organic. Makes me miss crafted levels from the OT, since the best missions in ME:A are also the crafted levels like Liam’s loyalty mission.
15. Voeld felt too much like the Imperial/Chiss storyline on Hoth in SWTOR.
16. Wise, old men on top of a high tower, overused trope.
17. Not ‘intelligent’ enough when it comes to (deeper) scifi themes.
18. Platforming sucks.
19. Some filler content is cheap filler content, but some other ‘Tasks’ are pretty decent (like the ex-Cerberus scientists for example). In general, all missions (big and small) could be paced better. What makes the Cerberus scientists good is that you run into it and can finish it right there and then, without traveling to other planets and stuff.
20. End-of-quest-dialogue is missing in some cases. After finishing 'Contagion' for example, doctor Carlyle should have something to say. But he doesn’t.
21. Everyone is bisexual, which I dislike from a canon (lore) perspective.
22. The story could've been more of a 'journey', instead of the Pathfinder being established so fast.
23. The galaxy map animations take too long. At least let us quick travel between hubs, too much going back and forth.
24. Just tell me who’s the Benefactor already! It’s obviously TIM right?
25. Somehow I’ve only discovered 96 percent of the cluster, while all systems show a 100 percent.

21. Everyone is bisexual, which I dislike from a canon (lore) perspective. - I am just confused about this point? Since it's not true. It is supposed to be some kind of hyperbole or? Liam, Jaal and Cora are straight, Suvi and Gil are gay...

#7 LOL The bar scene in MEA really sucks, I mean the Vortex is one boring place, give me Cora's Den or Flux's any day. I want to be able to play Quasar. Plus I would really like to know if Ryder is as bad a dancer as Shepard.

#8 I think the new ME team is going to rewrite the asari. They're going to use the whiptail lizards' asexual reproduction as their explanation since asari do not need a male to reproduce. Lizards being lizards, they all look alike. That'll explain why 99.99 % of the asari in MEA are whiptails with the oddball PB standing out like a priest in a bevy of sexy dancers. See, Bioware ME team? I did your job for you. /mock

It still doesn't make "everyone" bi, especially considering the massive number of NPCs in the game. One bisexual male option and two bisexual female options(not counting the two flings), is not "everyone is bisexual". More like "everyone was catering to straight males and lesbians get the scraps from that"

While I agree with you on 1. It might be worth considering that A larger ancient technology may have been used to create similar creatures in several different places...

Is #4 referring to how fast they managed to set up Kadara into a thriving port in the limited span of 14 months? Kadara wasn't built by exiles and outlaws. It was originally an Angaran city long before any Milky Way species came to Andromeda, which the exiles and outlaws took from them. Like every other planet that you found an outpost on, Kadara is an Angaran planet. Jaal mentions this.

They didn't explain PB's eyebrows?
I remember them saying on a stream or in a Tweet "Don't worry. We explain it in the game"

1. The angara reasoning could be applied here I think. Bos'S: "Em'ploy-ee, I need creatures for our planet life project, get it done by Monday!" 2. Those are just storages, no? Then the floating rock priestess performs the ceremony. 3. Yeah, new galaxy yet the aliens have the same backwards broken leg, and three fingers. Cmon universe! (Maybe the jardaam are MW refugees from a few cycles back) 5. ~Agreed. Especially after the "the one with least amount squadmate have more dialogue than the one with the most in ME3" promise. I was satisfied with Vetra and Drack though, since I brought them with me every time. 6. Yeah. Should have added a mail function to the nomad or the forward bases. I played it one planet at a time/until blocked so I was flooded by messages after I was done there. 7. Eh, they must be part of the second wave sleepers. 8. For the first 2 hours I felt I was racist ("they all look the same"), after that it was just disappointing. 9. +1 for storage. Before (and after for a while) I settled with the pathfinder gear I carried the other armor parts too until I found a full set. 14. Agreed. I know open world is the new trend but I think BW should go back to the closed maps. I enjoyed the DAI areas for the first 3 pt, but after that the magic was gone, they were just big empty spaces. Trespasser was invigorating. Focused story and characters, just stick to your strengths! MEA did a good job with the side content but it felt like only Eos was acknowledged. So the next time I'd like to see 2-3 Eos like hub world with more prologue type open-closed story/character zones. 20. In some cases at least the quest giver sends you a mail. In the case of contagion I think it's a mightbiteyouintheass type sequel bait quest. Alien flu/angry nephew with an army kind resolution. 21. No one is bi in MEA. PB, Vetra, Keri and Reyes are just both options. 22. I think the problem is the pacing. You can spend 10-20 hours cleaning planets between priority missions and it hurts the narrative. A was already finished with Eos and after the moshae quest Kallo said I can go back to help the planet since the radiation cleared. I'm doing my job, I'm pathfinder prime in gameplay but in the next story mission I'm back to my story role of 'maybe he can help us'. 23. My biggest issue with the game. I finished the game in 90 hours but I think about 5+ of it was just the travel animations. The empty systems were especially annoying. They are nice animations, create an atmosphere, but after the xth back and forth it really lost its novelty. 24. In the sibling awakening talk Ryder mentions the benefactor as an information broker so for a split second I thought it was Liara/previous broker but after the final memory I'm pretty sure it's TIM. So yeah, prepare for super secret Cerberus subplot in the sequels. 25. 99% for me and everything is 100%. Tried to revisit them, I thought maybe the unscanned scourge point add to it but no. Although the save file shows 100% completion so I don't know. Btw for me the ~hidden 100% viability scene didn't trigger so maybe that's the missing 1%.

You can flirt with basically everyone, but depending on your gender, you will get shut down. Like, if you pick the flirt with Liam, for example, he will tell you he is not into dudes. Cora will tell you she is not into women, etc. You can also flirt with NPCs who aren't romanceable, like with Lexi, but you will get rejected. Reyes is bi, I see nothing wrong with that. He likes both men and women, people like that do exist you know.

Thanks for the replies! My mistake with the bi thing. I just saw a heart option with almost all characters and didn't click them, so I didn't know they would refuse Ryder. #7 LOL The bar scene in MEA really sucks, I mean the Vortex is one boring place, give me Cora's Den or Flux's any day. I want to be able to play Quasar. Plus I would really like to know if Ryder is as bad a dancer as Shepard. Ryder can dance in Kadara (the club in the slumbs) and on Hyperion after the last main mission, his moves are very similar to Shepard's. But if you get drunk at Sloane's party, you'll dance like you've never danced before. I know, but I still I feel like 14 months is not enough time for the current state of the cluster. Three or four years would feel more realistic.

20. Somehow I’ve only discovered 96 percent of the cluster, while all systems show a 100 percent. 1. I don't mind the same wildlife because the planets were all terraformed by the same race as well as the Angaran settlers probably bringing their own animals. Dogs are all over Earth after all. 2. You actually have to LEAVE the pods to process them. 3. Mass Effects' central ethos is that alien life isn't really alien but just people so we shouldn't be xenophobic. It's why Renegade Racist Shepard got less and less prominent until disappearing. Ryder can't be a racist at all which is disappointing for those who wanted to bring the Imperium of Mankind about. 4. I get the impression things went to shit quickly on the Nexus. Still, six months or so is enough to build a town and have it descend to lawlessness. 5. Really? Because I felt they all wanted to be my bestie and kept telling me everything about them. 6. I think that's just a function of sandboxes. 7. I did notice there weren't any Asari strippers this time. SHOCK! 8. The Andromeda team has already mentioned they had to make sacrifices to get the game out on time. 9. I agree. 10. The loading times for the game as is are horrible. 11. Agreed even if I would have pardoned him because of my desire to get everyone working again. 12. I did notice that. 13. I think she should have been half-Quarian or maybe she's a quarter Quarian on her mother's side. 14. EH, I love open worlds so it's not an issue. 15. Can't comment on that. 16. Isolationist old men would either be up above or below ground. Besides, the Temple has an army of robots. 17. I wish they'd made more of an effort to discuss the ups and downs of real life exploration. I'd have liked the Kett more if they were like the Combine rather than the Taliborg. 18. Yes. 19. The damn, "go across the map to do X" does suck. 20. Maybe. 21. It'd have been better if Liam, Cora, and Jaal were bisexual. Less complaining. 22. Eh, being the Pathfinder is a journey. You only become him when you complete your job. 23. I think they're meant to be loading screens but if so, that's still awful. 24. Obviously. Albeit, it'd be hilarious if it turns out it was Udina. 25. Yeah.

An easy answer would be she's half-Quarian. They have eyebrows. wut. She's half elcor. Wait, that's mentioned in the game? Playing so much of it in so little time makes one miss details.

Banter between Drack and Peebee. I almost didn't believe it when I first heard it (driving around in the nomad), but then there was a 2nd one, and Peebee said something with like "remorseful response" on it. XD It was wonderful.
I really like Peebee. And I think the Elcor thing might explain why when I'm usually not so big on Asari characters.
