I think what a couple of clans joined the initiative for a new start? That includes female clans. Not all females were fertile. Who's to say the fertile females aren't hidden away and the ones who aren't decide to become part of every day Krogan life? Including leading, fighting and dying.

I belive almost all leaders are female. Except for the Kett. Jein Garson, Foster Addison, Nakmor Kesh, Zeveen Raeka, Capt Hayjer, Matriarch Ishara, Sarissa Theris, Kadara Sloan, Elaaden Anea plus Krogan female leader. Moshua List goes on and on.

Dumb thread. Argueably the most important Krogan in history, Shiagur, was not only female, but also a warlord.

They've also increased their viability by a whopping 400%. But I'm sure you glanced over that in your quest to establish that everything about this game sucks A game btw you've payed full price for and have been playing since release. That'll teach those suckers at Bioware, huh?

It is stated many times that the genophage stabilises the population growth. As long as the krogans don't fight too much, they are in no danger of going extinct.
Some species, such as rodents, breed in large numbers. This causes a brutal fight for survival. The salarians did not want to be part of this fight.

For a warlike savage race like the Krogan, having a female Overlord (with the most pathetic least threatening voice ever) mix it up with the males and even dominate them all made me cringe a little, not gonna lie. That 'fight' scene was pathetic. Wait, there shouldn't be a female leader because Krogan 'savage and warlike'? You know thousands of species on the planet have their females are the primary fighters right? Such as lions? There's no reason why female Krogan wouldn't be as 'savage and warlike' as male krogan.

Exaggeration due to the fact that Mass Effect used to have way more male leaders, so having equal numbers seems non-equal. There are loads of male leaders. I'm only about 1/4 of the way in and there's already Tann, DadRyder, Avitus, Macen, Kandros, the Archon and the mayor of Prodromos. This reminds me of the study where they found that, in a classroom, if girls spoke 50% of the time, boys thought they were dominating discussion, and perceived it as equal when girls spoke 20% of the time.

Same goes for racism and other forms of discrimination. Giving people equal rights is being sold as 'the white man being oppressed'. It would be hilarious if it weren't so damn sad at the same time.

Still could have done with a different voice actor though to make her sound at least a little bit intimidating.

Even though it's happened historically with the Krogan before. Not exactly sure why that's a surprise. The answer is pretty simple though as to why...re-population. A few clans took every resource they had and jumped galaxies to get that fresh start. That would include a decent amount of females. Plus Kesh does mention they made a dent regarding the Genophage, so the growth in births is likely going to see a major population explosion in the coming years for the Krogan. According to a datapad found in spenders apartment, around 1200 krogans jumped to andromeda with the intiative. By the time andromeda begins that number gets lower because of infighting, fighting the kett etc...it makes no sense that we'd have a major population explosion if females are the ones doing the fighting and dying... Except Krogans are way, way more fertile than humans. If not for the Genophage it would literally take a handful of fertile females to make their populations explode above the rest of the Initiative in a generation. Making a dent in the Genophage means that they can easily keep a viable population, and grow it, with far fewer females than human and humans-like races require. So they can easily afford to let females fight. And as someone else said, it's the same reason we saw no Turian females until Nyreen, but see loads of them in Andromeda; they didn't have a model for them yet. And same for Salarians, albeit their model is identical to male's, maybe with more lipstick if you squint.

There are women-only tribes in Krogan culture so it's a damn good bet female krogan are adept at combat and hunting.

How did this turn into a thread about SJWs? This whole thing can be completely torn apart, without resulting in SJW talk. Let's break it down:
1. Allowing a lot of female Krogan to go to Andromeda, is something the Krogan species would never allow. 2. The Krogan didn't even have their own Ark, meaning there's much less of them than the Humans, Asari, Salarians and Turian. How can they possibly hope to populate Andromeda while still affected by the genophage, with such a small amount of Krogan? 3. Increasing fertility rate to 4% won't help that much, since it's such a small amount. Not to mention the bullshit science behind this. That's not how cryostasis works. 4. Female Krogan fighters will do nothing but hurt your race's chances of survival.
This is really bad writing, that takes significant amount of handwaving to accept.

Points 1, 2, and 3 are simply false. As late as ME2 neither Wrex nor Wreav have that much control over Tuchanka. (By ME3 maybe that's different, but by then the clan's already gone.) And simple math would show you that 4% would be plenty. The krogan population was stable with the genophage -- or rather, would have been stable without the societal disruption caused by the genophage. Point 4 depends on point 3. Also, females of proven infertility are considered as expendable as males. (Should we be saying males and females, or men and women? Anyone remember correct usage for the MEU?)

Not all of the leadership is male.

In ME3 Eve stated that desperate females often committed suicides and gladly volunteered to subjected themselves to Maelon's research. If females were told that they would undergo gene therapy on board of the arcs which will increase their fertility...they'd have females lining up in droves for it.
Krogan female warlords happened before. There was at least one occasion that was described on scanning a planet in ME3 which told about female warlord making a last stand there

Because it's really hard to repopulate your species with just males this. The reason we never saw any number of female krogan (except eve) was because they didn't go off their home planet. With the exception of kesh this still holds true. We only see female krogan in their colony. Although the clan leaders voice made my skin crawl.
