I feel like this was really embarrassing and mean but I want to see how you feel. Especially f any of you are teachers or moms (I see memes that's moms are always defensive against teachers)
so, I haven't ever been shy online about being dyslexic and having bad eyesight (I wear glasses for reading and my vision isn't impossible but is a bit blurry). I'm shy about it irl though. I only tell friends and teachers. Lately my English teacher calls on me every day to read out loud. Reading out loud is already embarrassing but especially when I keep seeing word so wrong. And gen doesn't care that it's so embarrassing for me and that some people probably think I just can't read or something. I told him because as my English teacher he should know but I don't know why he's doing this to me. He is the first teacher to do this and he just started.

I had a maths teacher who would constantly make fun of one group of 3 or 4 of us. To be fair, it was quite funny and we probably deserved it. We were good at maths, but we tended to just piss about and not take it seriously enough, so we made a lot of rather basic mistakes. So this teacher made sure he targeted at least one of us for ridicule about it each lesson. It worked, though. Made me realise I had to put some effort in, and without it I wouldn't have got onto the university course I wanted to. So I guess sometimes that sort of thing can help you, even if you don't realise it at the time.
Of course your teacher could just be a massive dick...

It seems your English teacher is trying to give you extra practice to help you. If you expect it to happen and know what's going to be read in class you could prepare for it on your own. Bad eyesight for reading might make it fair to suggest to him to announce he's going to call on you soon to give you a chance to proofread, if you don't know what's going to be read.

First: I'm no teacher (or mom), but I do have experience with dyslexia (family members and friends) and I'm socially awkward as hell. Second: That is some weird teaching method. If a teacher wants to encourage a student to grow and become more confident s/he should start small. When I was in school, we was usually put in small groups of 5-6 students, then we should take turns to read/speak. That way you get a smaller audience and that does a lot when you hate doing thing in front of others. And you are not the only one that have to read which makes it feel better. If you feel it is really tough on you I would suggest that you ask your teacher (if you haven't already) why he push you, or talk with a school nurse/counselor about it. In the end, if you are not getting a feeling of security about your teacher/school they have failed. As a side note: I would recommend to let people know that you are having problem with reading, it may ease a lot of the your stress if they know why you struggle.

Is he singling you out or did you just get chosen at random?
If it's then former then perhaps, in his mind, he believes he's helping you. Trying to bring you out of your shell maybe?
Either way, if it's making you uncomfortable go see him after class and ask him to stop. If he persists then go speak with the principle.

He calls people at random but since he knows for me he shouldn't call me it seems and he does so almost every day, even in the longer readings on the ones on the smartboard that aren't right in front of me and it's harder.
I don't know. Doesn't seem like reading would fix it since I know how to read it can just give me headaches or be really embarrassing since I trip up a lot. I don't want anyone getting fired either.
And I just didn't tell anyone because t seems like them I'm asking for pity just because I have some trouble reading!

And I just didn't tell anyone because t seems like them I'm asking for pity just because I have some trouble reading! I have no experience with this, but you're not asking for pity. It just takes a LOT more effort for you than for someone who doesn't have to deal with the things you deal with. I really would suggest going back and telling your teacher how uncomfortable it makes you. Perhaps you could use this as a compromise to get something out of him by explaining that you appreciate him giving you the chance to work on it, but you'd like to know ahead of time what you're going to have to read, so you can prepare a bit. If it doesn't improve worse after that, I'd say he's probably not a very good person or teacher. I wish you luck.

Could he be choosing you to read because yours is one of the few names he remembers?

Thanks. I should probably just ask him.
Umm it may be that...some of the teachers kinda know me because they joke with me since I'm thin but I snack in each of my classes and have fallen asleep in every class at least once...so maybe I seem more memorable and finials so he is quicker to call on me. That's possible at least.

I had a math professor in my previous university who used to get upset with some of us students. Saying his hunting dog could solve the assignments he was giving to us and mocked those who failed to do so, needless to say he had among the highest fail rates of all the professors in the whole university. I, as someone who previously had enjoyed math, only passed one of his four courses, then I said goodbye to the university. This professor was kinda inhuman in many ways, his life seemed to revolve around math and his social skills were really poor.
It shouldn't be too difficult to decipher whether the professor or teacher is the kind that you can discuss things with in a proper manner. I doubt he has bad intentions in your case, as stated by someone else before.

He said he will start giving the reasons a night earlier so I can read when he calls on me but to not rely on that because he wants me to be able to read out loud by the letters (I describe it as reading full words because the shapes hangs less, each letter is too confusing so some words I can't spell/ didn't know shield versus sheild

On the opposite end of the spectrum I made 2, and arguably I just found out last year, three, teachers quit because the classes I was in were so terrible and stressful the teachers quit. (I honestly shit you not.)
Grade 9 x 2. A: Music Teacher. Couldn't put up with our spitball wars. One day we literally covered the entire dry wall roof with pencils and spitwads. She tried so hard to make us care about that fucking Birmingham song she really liked. (Should've tried to make us care about things we might've cared about instead of propagating her own preferences, idiot woman.)
Grade 9 x 2. B: My French Teacher. I live in Canada, we had to learn french. (HAD TO. fyi. 4 years of french and I still only know how to ask to go to the bathroom and how to tell you I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. "Je ne sais PAS".) Anyways, that guy was actually honestly trying to teach us. He was a good guy, and looking back I sorta actually feel bad. He was nice and sincere, but our class beat him into the ground. By the end he just sort of blankly stared at us and grumbled.
***
Grade 11. Coop. I dunno about other schools, but in Grade 11/12, you have to do work experience here. Along with resume building and general real-world skills. Except they are dumb skills that are easy and everyone with an ounce of sense knows how to do. So you have a teacher trying to teach a class that doesn't give a shit about learning what he's teaching. That was this guy.
I liked him. I really did. He came into my work last year, I didn't recognize him. He recognized me, and my girlfriend recognized him. She went to the same school I did two years earlier. He had quit many years later. Unsurprisingly. Try teaching 30+ 17 year olds something they both already know and simultaneously don't want to relearn...
Anyways. The morale of the story? Teachers never held all the power, we did. Now some of my peers are teachers, and they are learning this story. They were always the preachy ones of the group, and I hope they get the message that preaching to kids is no better than preaching to their friends. You'll get the same result one way or the other.

From how I read it, it sounds like he is intentionally putting you into these embarrassing situations. Does he call on any other of your classmates to read out loud everyday? I have never heard of students being forced to read out loud to classmates everyday.
My bet is he is singling you out for less than good intentions. Like everyone else some teachers have a stick up their ass and like to take it out on any student(s) they do not like.
Had one of those teachers myself because I refused to stand up for the Pledge of Alliance. Being that it was a law & government class he knew he could do nothing about it. He was strict, rigid, and traditional; ironically I was the same but with my own independent spirit. No one liked him for his personality and strictness but looking back he was a good teacher otherwise.

Have you spoken with anyone about testing accommodations? I don't know if you go to public or private school, but you may qualify and it's something to think about, especially if you have any important standardized tests coming up.

I had a few teachers that would go out of their way to ridicule kids who got stuff wrong or were having trouble with material.
My experience with my computer science professors really put me off pursuing that after two classes.

Tangentially, there was a jerk of a history teacher during seventh grade who didn't believe me when I told him my father was an unknown entity, and thought I was just saying it to get out of half of a family tree assignment.
For a sensitive kid who was extra sensitive about not having a dad, it made quite an impression.
