So the interview system in LA Noir still seems to be a bit...perplexing. Granted not calling it a failure of game design I am sure I am doing something wrong, but I was sure I had the evidence to actually make an acusation which then didn't apparently work.
The bad thing about it being so forgiving on you failing the interview bits is that sometimes story gets lost in the shuffle. The game wants you to discover these things on your own but there is a huge disconnect if you fail. For instance with the interview I failed I had nothing too concrete to hold him on, Imean I guess his men were shooting at me a couple minutes ago...but I didn't really have much to hold him on and then the next scene is him getting dragged away in cuffs. Or more to the point when I flunked out of the Valdez case the Captain, Leary, was talking about all the great work I did and how the guy was a kiddy molester...sure that would explain why the punk decided to steal his car but I didn't actually discover that in the interview. Still a fun game but the interview system does have its pros and cons.

Did a bit of this and that. A bit of sims time with the Milner family, a few birthdays and apparently the grandma is dead now. Or skipped town. Either way, not my problem anymore. Dealt with the templars in the Hinterlands for one character in DAI and that was pretty much that. Finished the vampire hidden object game in my bundle that had been bothering me. Sped it up by using a walkthrough. Did not like the gameplay but really dug the story. Apparently I had already played the other game I had left in the bundle and while I do remember it being fairly decent, one time was quite enough. So loaded up the other hidden object bundle (No I don't have a problem, YOU have a problem) and picked Eternal Journey, new Atlantis. It looked much better, behaved in fullscreen and had voice acting. So may or may not have spent quite some time with it. Seem to be about 1/3 into it and so far, it's pretty good. So good times.

KCD Tried to do the roe deer quest but the critters are small and run faster than the red deer. They're also rather hard to find so I gave up on this quest and decided to clear out the third bandit camp near Rattay. I got three of the bandits including the leader but the fourth ran away. I chased after. He ran and ran....and ran....through the forest and came to a river. I thought he would cross. Instead, he plunged into the river and went up river; running. I followed along the bank, trying to get an arrow in him. I then decided not to since I've no idea if he would disappear into the water, taking all the loot with him. So I just followed. He went on and on until I could only see his neck and head. Surely he'll drown? He had to come up to dry land sooner or later. The game doesn't allow the player to wade deep into the water so evidently, the devs were cheating with the NPCs! He went on and on. At one point, I was forced onto the road and promptly ran into three Cumans (foreign mercenaries). Freacking H***!!!! They gave chase. The archer didn't chase very far. The other two kept on my heels as I backpedaled. I kept shooting at them with the bow. The swordsman went down and begged for mercy. That left the other with the polearm kept jabbing at me. We went further up the road. A villager walking towards us promptly yelled "Cumans!" and ran away. Be good if he brings help but of course he wouldn't. I kept shooting arrows at polearm man until he too, laid down his weapon and begged for mercy. By then, my hp wasn't good. No mercy. I shot him dead. I went back down the road and shot the swordsman in the back as he was walking back to his sentry spot. Got his friend, the archer, in the back too. Loot!! Went back to the bandit camp and sure enough, that bludy runner was there. This time, I got him before he could run. More loot!

Hunted my first Pirate Lord and, since I had to keep following and following at warp speed for about 5 minutes, it really was a hunt! Cut him down and took his loot.
I hired a different mercenary, who sounds like a quarian, and kinda has the suit for it too, but I'm pretty sure he's got a screw loose somewhere. He's a little on the bloodthirsty side.

KCD - entering some downbeat after the battle. I joined Hans in some bathhouse action. Came back drunk AF with a bouquet of flowers just to enter a fistfight. Next morning I found Hans at the lower city gate. In underpants. Where the fuck was he going? Back to the bathhouse? I followed him and Mr Underpants went shouting "God be with you!" all the way to the bathhouse, where he went to a chest, found his clothes again and went about his business being a noble brat again.

Diablo III. Finished all bounties available in one session. Tacked some Nephalem Rifts and 3 Greater Rifts. I'm at Paragon level 37 and half of my gear legendary, and I'm starting to feel like Expert is becoming... too easy. Like I'm back to square one. Might turn out I need to up difficulty soon. Visited Fowl Chicken Level. And killed poor, unsuspecting pig for loot correctamundo Met Greed Twice, actually. Pretty much bounty after bounty. Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold~~I think I should thank community event with double goblins for that And Akarat's Champion transformation might be the coolest skill in game. She goes from badass... ...to the Badass 2. I just noticed Scoundrel playing it cool. "Don't look at camera... don't look at camera..."

Finished up Baldurs gate 1 and the Dragonspear dlc. Was pretty good though I think i missed a few quests that timed out. Def plan on giving the game another go at some point as a dif class and try to get what I missed.
But for now I took my char into the sequel and am enjoying it so far. Oddly enough I've only done maybe 3-4 quests and I've already gotten enough to pay the dude the 15k. Anybody who's played do you recommend going as soon as able or explore and quest first?

Anybody who's played do you recommend going as soon as able or explore and quest first? Personally I prefer wrapping up most of my quests first since the story kind of ramps up soon after that quest and I feel a bit silly about loafing around with what is at stake. Also its always nice to have some extra gold so you can buy some more fancy stuff. Granted, I haven't played Dragonspear yet, so you might already be loaded with fancy stuff. But gold is always better in larger quantities.

Either way works, but I'd personally recommend doing most of the quests you can find before paying him and setting off after Imoen and Irenicus. If you have Jaheira in your party however and you're looking to follow her romance, I recommend holding off on making the payment and setting off until you're pretty far along in her personal questline. Any of the romances actually, should you pursue them, would ideally be pretty far along before you leave due to spoilery reasons, but hers in particular. You can do most (maybe even all? idk) of the quests in and around Athkatla after you return, but once you leave to go after Irenicus and Imoen it starts a more linear portion of the game and it'll be a LONG time before you get back to Athkatla and the surrounding areas. Oh and at one point after you do leave, you'll be presented with two options on how to proceed: either going through a portal or going on a ship (trying to be vague here). Going through the portal skips an entire location of the game, with some good loot to boot.

So the 'brand new game syndrome' struck for the first time in LA Noir today. Where you don't know continent stopping points in games so you think "I'll go after I get to the next thing". But then the next thing leads to "combat" in this case me chasing a suspect across the top of a movie set. So this kept me up past my normal bed time but coincidentally still chasing the guy, also had my first two deaths.
On the interview front I think I just missed the evidence this time implicating him though "so and sos wherabouts" I thought was a bit of a red hearring.
Still as much as I complain I still think I'm hitting eighty percent efficiency. I wonder what others have done.

For the last couple of days I've been falling asleep playing Skyrim, so I decided to go to Best Buy's website to see what games are on sale. Turns out, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, is on sale. Hopped in my themikefest mobile to get the game.
The graphics look good. The hair is...very good. Like to see that in the next DA game. I just started the 2nd chapter. Crafted a bow. Killed a few animals. I like the selection of outfits Lara can wear.

Wrapped up Eternal Journey New Atlantis. It was pretty cool. I liked the cat, she was a trooper. The story did raise some questions wich it didn't quite answer and there were a lot : But why? But such is the hidden game logic. Don't question why you need to cut the rope with the shattered glass of your mirror instead of the pocket knife, just do it. No collectors edition for any of the games in the bundle, so no idea if they did a little "Everything answered" in those and admittedly not invested enough to care. Then started up Dark Strokes, Sins of the fathers. It was semi interesting. Played enough of these games to spot the twist half way through, but still, decent. No voice overs except for the very big cutscenes, which was a bit annoying since unlike the game before, this one had quite a number of npcs hanging around. But the game was pretty and main character would take more than one item during the hidden object scene, which is a massive plus since it's always annoying watching those idiots complain they don't have a knife, after finding three of them just a second ago, but they just took the ribbon they found instead. Also, always a treat to have Darth Nihilus steal your girlfriend. Would say shoo you can't have her, even if you did get additions to your mask. But you kinda can. She got stuck in a fishnet and I just can't. Wrapped up the bundle with Stray Souls, dollhouse story. It had a clown, yay. Quality wise it was the worst one, there was no voice acting at all, scenes looked weird and the plot was even weirder. Still it looked better than the vampire one yesterday and it was pleasant enough to play, so all in all had a okay experience. The ragdoll was creepy and I am kind of happy that he didn't have a voice. It would probably have been squeeky. But he was alright I guess. Did also load up Midnight Mysteries for a moment, but had to stop because the background sounds sounded like the dog when he gets locked outside and it made me nervous. Also did check, dog is fine. May or may not have also died three times to Carbos and Shank in Baldurs Gate because I wastly overestimated my abilities. Either way, decided to call it a day.

So many good updates since I last visited the site! I’m still playing the crap out of RoTK 13 + Fame and Strategy Expansion. I’ve completed a few games, each pretty enjoyable.
My current playthrough started in the game’s “The Warlords” timeline. This starts with the assassination of Dong Zhuo and the flailing attempts of his subordinates to secure their hold on the imperial court. As the label suggests, this is the era in which the various warlords are sifted and separated, wheat from chaff. (This is around 193 CE.)
I used historical, but non-Three Kingdoms era officers to stake my claim in Jiangling, Jingzhou. I’m using Yue Fei, a general from the later Southern Song dynasty (centuries later), as my ruler. His starting officers included his wife, three sworn brothers, his martial arts teacher, and a few crafty statesmen plucked from the Warring States Period (centuries earlier).
It’s 7 years on, and my control of China is pretty advanced. Quick version: We expanded into southern Jingzhou early, then gobbled up Liu Biao in northern Jing. I conquered Sun Ce early, before he became too powerful, and absorbed his officers and the entirety (minus Ce) of the Sun clan. I allied with Cao Cao early, and maintained this throughout most of the decade. While Lü Bu acted the traitorous d-bag, and Cao Cao and Liu Bei did their best to come out on top of that chaos, I pounced on Xuzhou, seizing Qiao from Liu Bei and all of Lü Bu’s holdings. All of the conquered officers joined my ranks. This change to real-world history would prove a pivotal turning point.
Cao Cao never got control of the entire central plains, thanks to my opportunism. As he and Yuan Shao ground one another into the dirt, I secured all of southern China, and hold the passes in Yi and Nanzhou. (For years, Liu Yan and Zhang threatened to invade Yongan, a gateway city from Yi to Jing. They never had the balls to actually attack. I got tired of mustering troops for their nonsense, so I established a long term ceasefire with Zhang.) Ma Teng out of Liang is an ally, and I just managed to establish a 36 month Alliance with Yuan Shao. (It’s 200 CE.)
In real history, 200 AD saw Cao Cao controlling the central plains and Yuan Shao controlling Jizhou, the breadbasket of Han China. I’d altered the timeline, weakening Cao’s position. He is slowly going bankrupt fighting the Yuans. I’ve twice saved his ass by marching in armies to rescue his cities. Our alliance expires next month, as he’s become a useless buffer. I’ll sweep in and seize his 8 cities. My armies are already positioned and marching. Since I have a fresh treaty with the Yuans, I’ll be able to really secure the Yellow River border.
Seven years on, Yue Fei has control of over half of Han China’s cities, a 900K+ army, and 130+ officers running his dukedom. I say dukedom because the emperor bestowed a high noble title upon him in 197. I also have the imperial seal, claimed years ago when I swept aside Yuan Shu on my way to other goals. When I soon “install” the emperor under my protection, I expect “King” will be forthcoming. The emperor will see reality and eventually abdicate later.
I have options from here. After taking Cao’s lands and officers (and the emperor), I might turn west to Liang, as my treaty with Ma Teng ends in 4 months. I don’t want to allow the Yuans to recover from their war with Cao Cao, but it seems the better path. In 36 months, I can likely take Liang, Yi and Nanzhou (northern Vietnam, sort of). Liu Zhang’s been asking for it for years. His troops, wealth and supplies will help against the Yuans. Having simply hoarded wealth and goods for over a decade, his force’s wealth is second only to mine.
Oh well, we’ll see if it happens as I foresee. The waters are less murky years in, as a clearer path to conquest emerges. I need to bump up the difficulty again for next time. This era ran from 184-280 in real history. Achieving unification in about a decade is pretty insane.

So I'm at a town, doing a quest and talking to a priest who apparently knows how to fight, drinks like a fish and has a concubine. I've seen streamers' choices for this quest and they all largely went one way. I chose the other way.

Changed Skyrim's difficulty to Legendary because killing stuff with only two Incinerates or Ice Soears isn't fun. Also, spawned ton of Bandits via console command to farm Werewolf perks. You're doing it wrong. You should kill things and loot them as fast as possible so you can play/read something else with the time you gain.

Whatever scripts and fixes I found I couldn't fix the crashes I encountered in Fallout 3 DLCs. So I had to give up... Then I reinstalled my New Vegas and its coolest mods, and loaded my 2013 playthrough. Very cool! I lacked a few levels so decided not to enter Lonesome Road, instead headed toward the wild vault. I had no option but to take down that ghoul to help NCR!

Most recently, I played my way through XCom 2: War of The Chosen, started a new Witcher 3 run and played a little Until Dawn with the girlfriend. Good times!
