Does anyone have any experience with DAO just not wanting to start? For some reason today after weeks of DAO starting without any issue today it loads up and when you hit resume or try and load a save it just stops at the loading screen and then crashes to desktop. After several attempts launching it in different ways, via the desktop icon which is set to run as administrator and all the security options are set to full control and using the DA Origins Mod Manager launcher and also running a repair I finally got it to load via an older save, then in Denerim it just crashed trying to enter "The Wonders of Thedas". Now it will not launch again at all, just crashes after hitting resume or loading the last save. Have you changed anything? A new mod or so? If there is a mod conflict such things can happen. I had that a few times and had to go through my extensive mod file to find the culprit. No hadn't changed anything except to enter Denerim and I had been using the same mods for weeks. I found a solution on the net though, apparently it is a problem with Denerim itself and how it is coded apparently as it uses lots of RAM and the game .exe file only allocates 2GB. If you are using lots of mods like I am apparently it can cause the game to CTD. A guy wrote a program that changes the .exe to 4GB which you can use to update the .exe file and when I did that it fixed that and some texture problems as well.

Yeah it felt good to spend som emore time with Oghren given he does join my team quiet late most of the tim eas I tend t odo Orzammar last due to it's difficulty. So it's good we effectively get him pretty much from the start in Awakening gotta love this scene too so funny. It was the exact opposite for me, I was annoyed, that they would toss the stupid drunk at me again. Oghren stayed at camp in DAO and he will stay in the keep in DAA. Yeah, Oghren was the one companion I could do without, as far as story and character goes. Too bad he's so good in a fight...

Good riddance.
I love the battle of Ostagar and the Tower of Ishal as levels and locations, and very much enjoy playing through them. Not so much thinking about them though. Cailan's general idiocy and recklessness, throwing people's lives away because he's too excited to play hero to wait for reinforcements or strategize properly. Duncan enabling him for politeness' sake, not even trying to get through to him about how terrible an idea it is to use the Wardens as bait for the darkspawn horde instead of keeping them in reserve for the Archdemon, let alone joining them personally knowing that they'd be leaving two junior Wardens and a childless widow queen-by-marriage Anora to fend for themselves if they all fell, while keeping secrets from the guy actually planning the battle. The Revered Mother shutting Uldred down on general principle, limiting the options on the table when redundancies could have been put in place, the entire reason the mages were present in the first place. And then tired, bitter, middle-aged Loghain having to contend with all this bullshit and try to draw up a battle-plan compromising with everyone, figuring that his armies and military experience and Rendon Howe are going to be enough to keep the country together after he abandons the battle as a lost cause. It's such a clusterfuck. Observing the "strategy meeting" alone, Ferelden almost deserves to be devoured by the Blight there's so much stupidity and childish posturing on display. But all that aside, the battle really is gorgeous, and the Tower is such an iconic level. I bought the game on the basis of that one interview demo featuring it, and it always brings me back to the first time fighting my way through the darkspawn, stumbling over charred corpses to reach the top. Look at this gory awesomeness. Where did it all go?

So far, I manage well with Sigrun in the front row, despite her being a rogue. I have Nathaniel and Anders with me and my Miya Amell is mage. I must say, the fights so far went relatively smooth.

Swtor Running with the agent because I'm caught up in her story. I knew I shouldn't ... but no spoilers. Though I've made an agent way back, I've forgotten the details of the story and could only recall what decision I made with her at the end. With the new agent, I'm recalling why her story is considered the best of the eight classes. I've also forgotten there're five companions to each class and I couldn't remember some of them. Likely because they didn't leave a deep impression. Vector, for the agent, I remember because of what happened to him. Mr Moley or Quinn, for the sith warrior, because of what he did. An NPC for the sorceress because of the horror / hilarity of the event and the twist of fate. Picked up the latest companion (Dr Lokin, far right) for the agent. I dressed him up from the legacy storage of armour that I had kept, intending for future chars and their companions but now, they're just pretty clothes for the toons.

Yeah the only problem is he's the only warrior you have in awakening unless you happen to be one yourself. In DAO at least you d ohave plenty of optoins in Awakening however you only have him and Justic eand you only get Justice jus tbefore the end. I guess you can kind of half spec Sigrun to be a warrior given she is a dual wielder but technically she is a rogue which means she is a bit squishy and easy to take down. But yeah I damit I ten dto use Oghrn mostly because ther weren't really any other alternatives.

I tend to be the opposite in that I like to play as a human because then the reactions of the other species feel more immersed in the actual game environment and the reactions of the non-human NPC's feel more real and alien if that makes sense. Elves I don't mind playing but I am not sure why but Dwarves and Qunari I can't get in their headspace enough. mhm, same...elves I think are a bit easier due to them (mostly) looking like humans with pointy ears.
I also have a hard time playing dwarves, as I said in an earlier post, I've only ever finished DAO once with a dwarf, and I never really liked him (he was my attempt at playing a character with a darker mind set). as for my Qunari, he was fun to play...but if and when I remake him I do think I'll roleplay him differently.
don't get me wrong, I love dwarves and Qunari, but I can never really get into their heads...kinda like you I think

Yeah I think I've only ever done one DAI playthrough as a dwarf I've done 2 I think on DAO but ,mostly to experience both Noble and commoner origins but I think that's it.

Rather good summary of that mess called Ostagar. Though I feel that Loghain's paranoia regarding Orlesians might deserve mention. ...
With regards to race of the player characters in DA, I tend to go by the "anything but human" notion actually. Bonus points for DAI, where a quite some decisions boil down to opinion. I'm not giving that power and influence to a chantry doormat, thank you.

As Curious Crow said yes there is a separate launcher DAOriginsconfig.exe that I had completely forgotten about. That said it MAY not have solved the problem and the patch works on fixing some other stuff as well such as pixelations and texture issues.

I used to play other races in games, but going back when I have replayed them ruined the illusion of playing anything other then a human in a fancy suit. So I have mostly played human characters if given the choice anymore.

Fallout 4 Before I started my current game, I forgot to download the We Are Minutemen mod. Maybe next time. Downloaded the Vtaw Wardrobe 1 CBBE BodySlide mod yesterday. Very nice. Haven't seen my character wear such tight fitting clothes since the Vaultsuit mod I have. Tracked down Kellog and took him out for good. A well deserved revenge. But still no closer to getting her baby back. Left the fort and the BoS show up in their Goodyear blimp. Met up with Maxson and did his quest to take out the muties at Fort Strong. After that returned to DC and met up with Vic and told him my results with Kellog. Did the brain traveling stuff, then met up with Virgil in Hell, Glowing Sea. And went back to my Red Rocket base and tinkered around with my power armor collection. Stupid raiders keep attacking my base. Died clutching his favorite gun. The cavalry has arrived. Neat mod stuff. Who says a grease monkey can't dress up and look good in the post apocalypse?

So BF 2.
It was funny I got the first double XP event in MP...
But first I did the next mission in the campaign on Vardos. Which was a fairly good experience overall. Interesting mission with interesting connotation. The ATAT section seemed a bit...weak...but otherwise it was a good level by and large. The frustrating thing about this game's combat is that on some weapons the alternate fire button is the grenade launcher...which is really weak and stupid of them since most shooters these days handle that kind of thing so much better.
Still it is suprising how addictive this game is despite its obvious weaknesses.
So I decided to try and take advantage of this MP event but since I have been only playing with Heroes...well HvV it was...didn't want to embarass myself TOO Badly! And then I sort of failed at the attempt because I never finished higher then 6th...
First match with Obi-Wan I did fairly well with there was some bits of constant death but some bits of not constant death and it is fun on Felucia having that sort of cage fighting trap.
Second match with Kylo was probably my best of the night because I had a 5 hero kill streak going at one point...but I still only finishedlike 5 out of 7.
Third match with Rey and well I didn't do too well, and Boba is kind of OP. I was so happy when I managed to kill him.
Then did Hero Showdown and that was really fun...I like HvV more but Hero Showdown had its moments too, just the first match I was a bit of a dingus and rushed right in while my partner (who was Luke) found a camping spot in the high ground. We won though and next time I stayed up with him and pulled off some moments. One benefit of Hero Showdown is it does force you to use other heroes that you might not be used to. Pulled off an epic mine trap with Han.
Then one more match with Luke in HvV...and bad player on a bad team and the other team was great and they were just mowing us down, nice coordination they had and they basically fortified themselves in Maz's castle. We didn't stand a chance but it was the only time I was frustrated by things.

Bonus points for DAI, where a quite some decisions boil down to opinion. I'm not giving that power and influence to a chantry doormat, thank you. I wouldn't describe it as paranoia, considering what we find out about Cailan and Celene, and I'm also not sure how relevant it is to the outcome at Ostagar. Cailan was too impatient to wait just a few days for reinforcements from Redcliffe. Even if he had miraculously been willing to sit still for weeks waiting for Orlesian Wardens to make it to the south of Ferelden, I doubt the darkspawn would have deigned to follow his timetable. And I don't think there's a single culture or religion in Dragon Age I couldn't get into the mindset of, they all have so much meat on them. Andrastianism included. The excepts from the Chant of Light we get are beautifully written, and lots of tropes classic to Catholicism have been infused with fantasy elements in really interesting ways. And frankly, properly written religious protagonists are so rare these days that it can be a breath of fresh air to play a character who actually believes in something more extensive and developed than vague pagan mysticism, let alone nothing at all.

GET SLIMED! Pillars of Eternal Slime. Deaths continue to happen. So she slappa the ooze again. The ooze slappa back. She ded. TRAGEDY. WHEN YOU FEEL ALONE AND YOU CAN'T GO ON! Got sloppy at Mr Murder Lord hold and paid the price. Twice. Figure I should take a break. Gave Vilkas a few more unsuccessful tries. All this dwarf talk made me want to play another dwarf. Dragon age record with them (played to completion) is 4 in DAO (Commoners- Lily and Hrotti, Noble- Sereda and Aldis) and 2 in DAI (Bergstein and Cressida). 0 in DA2. Heh. Hoh. Granted Human/Elves runs out number them. But hush hush about that. Did try to make a dwarf in Pillars but then the indecision hit me. What class, where from, who will she take, what to wear....argh. So basically got paralyzed at the creation screen and can't bring myself to play any more. Eventually did load up the game and started a Dwarven Bleak Walker called Sophie, a mercenary from the Living Lands. She made it fairly far, having company and all. But she made one fatal mistake. She poked a spooky necromancer witch without a plan. So now she's a skellington in service of the Murder Lord, being more crueler than I ever could have made her! Mwahaha. Yeah Trial of Iron is a bigger bite than I can chew. But on the other hand, wasn't really feeling the Bleak Walker style. Because I'm too cowardly to instigate a fight and my cruelty is existent but not consistent. But it's too late in the day to try again. All in all had tons of fun but little success.

The last couple of days I have gone back to Division 1 with a couple of friends since they wanted to do the Global Event that is ongoing. Its not bad in its current state, but after being shown Division 2 the sequel feels like a step backwards from where they left off from the first game.

Early impressions are that Temtem is really, really good. Introduces quality of life changes and presenting a deeper battle system which goes deeper than spamming the best move with your best pokemon over and over again.
And it will be continuously updates as well. Usually I let games come out of early access before buying but it's half the retail price so I picked it up. Despite the constant disconnects it's far more polished than most early access games.

Freed the spirit in the tree, met with the soothsayer and won his gwent card, killed some bandits and monsters, and then finally headed to the bog proper to start that leg of the main quest. Just met "Gran" and the kids.

I played Layers of Fear a bit more and I saw a creepy looking lady. I don't think, she likes me. Maybe, she is my probably dead wife and I'm the reason, she is dead? I'm just musing on the base of letters and paintings, I found. The game is really creepy, with a constant atmosphere of fear, so the title is well suited. I really recommend, you check it out, if you like more subtle mystery /horror games.I like, how corridors are changing or a room looks suddenly entirely different and it is always a good idea to pay close attention to the paintings on the walls.
As for playing races in games:I do like to play anything but human. Twilek and Torgruta on SWTOR, elves and dwarves in Dragon Age and other fantasy games (plus gnomes and half lungs, if the games allows it). It's strange for me playing a human in DAO and actually finished the main game. She is well into DAA right now. Normally my human playthroughs get abandoned midgame (with the exceptions of my Hawkes of course), because they statt to bore me.

So BF 2. It was funny I got the first double XP event in MP... Every Wednesday is 2x XP event. There are often 3x events and in fact this weekend should be one such.
Anyway, I tried Rebel Galaxy. Freelancer...it is not. But kinda close. The grind for better ships and parts is obviously the central thing about the game. I was mostly enjoying it, trying to soldier though with the fastest ship available (fast, but not many guns). Then a glitch cut me off from furthering the story and apparently it can't be fixed because of some silly choice I made previously. And seems I was pretty close to the end.
The solution - started a new game, gave myself a bazillion of cash and infinite rockets (could have used no CD on them, but I like to keep it...umm..."fair"), bought the biggest ship available and stomped through the story, ignoring everything else. The good part was that you could still die, even when flying a fortress with dozens of guns. But you really have to put yourself against very large fleets for it to happen. Overall, still quite fun.
Not a game that I would play again. The story is just an excuse to give you a reason to grind. The factions and pretty much everything feels static. The combat is somewhat fun and the different builds give something to tinker with. It was fine, but obviously not as good as I hoped.

I didn't get my Llama mount. Well I captured a Llama, but I can't get it out of the trap to tame it because I don't have a stable on my piece of land.
That was mentioned nowhere. Now I have to craft the material to build the stable, which will take me 2 days in-game. Hopefully, the Llama doesn't escape during that time.
