It says earn credits from investments and says something about outposts. What exactly does this do? is it worth it?

I rarely buy anything from vendors so I have a heap of unused credits as is. The only reason you would need it is if you're averse to crafting or struggling to find materials/research.
In the case of the former, you should still find enough stuff to use/sell. In the case of the latter, select perks that give you extra research and materials, break down all the equipment you find and/or deploy your strike teams regularly.

you mean you have to buy from vendors to make credits well thats silly so it could be called vendor rebate in a krogan way of saying. Whats deploying trike teams have to do with it? oh because you get loot from those? I have not done any strike teams. keeping buisy with journal missions. well thanks i wont get that one then.

Just collecting and selling junk every time you head back to the nexus or a vendor yields a considerable amount of credits and typically you acquire better items through R&D or looting faster than waiting for stuff to show up in shops.
