I have an idea that the timings on the war table in DAI might've been partly EA with up to 36 hours of waiting time. I could see Anthem ship with some arbitrary systems that suddenly require you to only play with people so you can come across lootboxes and shit. I appreciate we are still reliant on speculation. But where do you get all this stuff you make up from? You seem so earnest in your beliefs about what EA believes, has done and will do behind the scenes, and what Anthem will be like, despite the flimsiest facts. It's kind of impressive...

I'm still wondering where 36hr wait times on the WT come from? I never had any close to that. Longest were maybe 15 hrs? Easily waited on overnight. Longest time for war table mission is 19-24 hours. Did you notice mass effect is missing from the current projects list now? Well, I'd imagine because it's not a current project. It's "All Hands On Deck" for Anthem followed by DA4 so I don't imagine we'll hear much about Mass Effect at least until DA4 is in development.

But it slightly urges you to wait for it if you care about the War Table stuff, and I think one point of dragging out a game is to make players go "Oh, I'll play Multiplayer for a while" and then they come across the microtransactions. Either way it's a time sink and I don't get why else you would ever add such an arbitrarily high number to a single-player game. Also, lol, what does "story" even mean at BioWare anymore? It might as well just be "fetch quest that has the player conquering a base with basic dialogue" or something... or "banter".

To make it a longer game so you may still be playing when they are able to release the DLC as it takes time to produce. The amount of DLC sold is in direct correalation with the number of players still playing your game. It's got nothing to do with multiplayer, as multiplayer is just another way to make you keep playing the game so you are still around when DLC comes out.

Last year I replayed DA:I and used the PS4 clock to skip all war table stuff and just focus on the little texts and choice/consequence in them. I highly recommend this to others. You narrow down the total playtime, skip the longer bullshit and get a better game out of it imo from a role-playing standpoint

Brenon Holmes One advantage to having a more static model is that it's a lot easier to entice players into different styles of gameplay. You find something new, it's more powerful than what you have... you're likely to give it a go! 😊
Alternatively, with things that grow in power over time/usage... you tend to get a lot more attached to the items you have. They start to form part of the identity of your character.
A lot of it depends on what the progression goals are with a given system. Currently we're doing both styles (for different areas of progression).

Brenon Holmes That's definitely a way of describing it... Thats what we would refer to as "the razor". The problem with razors is:
Good ones are really hard to come up with 😊 People will always interpret them differently depending on their experiences... So you usually need supporting material to really help drive it home.
There are elements in your razor that fit, but it really depends on exactly what you mean... and on the next level of detail.
I think we have a fairly good way of describing the IP and the game... unfortunately, I don't think we can talk about it quite yet...
VViniary Please do not make it a PC port with lousy kbm support and bad PC optimazation:( I do not want to pick on your words, but "PC just sort of happens" does not sound well.
