I'm wanting the saints to win the SB of I'm honest but I'd like to see the Vikings also do something, ah well.
The Redskins season ended on a good note👍 Bruce Allen is finally gone as GM and I'm hopeful the next guy up can put some new positive change in the franchise. I'm hearing a lot of rumors, reports and such Ron Rivera will be the next HC for Washington and honestly idk what to think. Dude has a losing record as far as I'm aware plus I wanted someone that's just newer to the head coaching thing. Rivera should instill some discipline into the team plus with him being defensive minded I think he'll love Washington's D line and such. I'm curious if Haskins will stick around or if the new coach looks for his own guy.
In the end nothing matters until Dan Snyder stays hands off cause it won't matter who is where if he interferes with football operations.

As an Eagles fan I like the hire precisely because (IMO) it won't make the Redskins a great team. Will they be more competitive? Sure, sometimes. It certainly won't push the Eagles from front-runner status most seasons. I'll miss Jason Garrett in Dallas for the same reason. He was the anchor that prevented the Cowboys from ever rising too high. The Giants hired McAdoo (an idiot) and then Shurmur (a solid QB coach), and we see how good they've been. Even in its worst seasons, the NFC East has still generally been better than the AFC East. Can't fault me for wishing the Eagles could enjoy the same annual cakewalk as the Patriots. The NFC South and West have been the best in football for a number of years. Even their "scrub teams" are often competitive.

The owners, looking at you Jones especially, need to keep their hands out of the day to day operations of the teams business. Dallas hasn't been relevant since Jimmy Johnson left and that's the time when I started to dislike Dallas.
Let the GM do the operations like they are hired for and let the coaches coach.

Supposedly it's official that the skins have Rivera now with an announcement coming anytime. I'm hearing he also gets to pick the GM he wants to work with as well, no idea who he'd pick as I just don't know the guy.
Outside of Allen's firing, Snyder has cleared out the entire medical team (needed considering how many IR players they've had for 4 years) and another one of the high upper management guys. Seems Snyder is taking this cleanup this go around pretty serious but I don't blame him consider stadium attendance is at it's worst for the Redskins in their history lol. There's always more fans from the other team than there are Redskin fans lulz.

There's always more fans from the other team than there are Redskin fans lulz. John Dorsey just became available. I get that the Browns want a smooth Coach-GM partnership, and don't want Dorsey being a hindrance to their coaching search. Still, he's a good GM who constructed a talented roster with a healthy cap situation in Cleveland. Dummies. The Redskins should be immediately better with Rivera+del Rio. If they had a GM like Dorsey, I'd be concerned (as an Eagles fan). They've never had talent issues, really. It's been bad ownership and coaching, and the ridiculous injury rate you mentioned. Maybe cleaning house with the medical staff, Allen, and so on will make Trent Williams reconsider his future with the team? He has legitimate grievances. If all of the people he resents are gone, maybe he'll consider staying? Of course, if he perceives Snyder as having been adversarial in this situation (which seems unavoidable), then likely not. Even if I'm not inclined to root for divisional rivals, I'm happy to see long suffering fans like yourself given some cause for cautious optimism. It also just keeps the NFL more interesting when franchises don't stagnate for years at a time.

Even if I'm not inclined to root for divisional rivals, I'm happy to see long suffering fans like yourself given some cause for cautious optimism. It also just keeps the NFL more interesting when franchises don't stagnate for years at a time. I'm very excited about Del Rio coming over cause we'll finally move to a 4-3 defense and that defensive line should really be a big force to deal with for a lot of teams. It's probably the strongest point of the Redskins and they weren't even bad (like 44 sacks I believe in the 3-4). I see guys like Ryan Kerrigan going to save cap and going after chase Young which I'm alright with. It's also another big name that can help instill some discipline for the team. I'm hearing Rivera is interviewing Current staff still under contract and he'll either keep them or let them go after. If we keep our OC it'll help Haskins, but I'm kind of intrigued on if they'll go for a more older/experienced OC over O Konnel. Haskins will have to learn a new offense but I think the change will be good, especially getting away from anything tied to Jay Gruden. I never knew Dorsey was available, but I honestly don't know a lot of GMs either, Ozzie Newsome is kinda the one I want but I know he's kinda done with football management at this point. It seems however Rivera might be the HC and in control of player personnel so he might actually be our GM as well which I like, I want the HC having that control so long as they can manage it. I've also heard rumors of Trent Williams possibly coming back now that Allen is gone, that was a huge issue last year and Trent wanted no part of the Redskins with Allen around. I want the dude back cause he's like a top 3 tackle when healthy, maybe even the best left tackle too, it's debatable but he's easily top 5 for sure. I just don't know if he'll want a restructured contract after the recent mess, I mean he's in his early 30s, and honestly he hasn't finished a full season in years. I guess idk if he's worth an extension to come back cause I'm pretty sure that's what it'll take to get him back, if he was still under 30 I'd be more ok doing it. I'd really like him to though, Haskins got hit ALOT and he only started half the year. Trent would save Haskins from so many unnecessary hits and the LT position would be alright for the next few years at least barring the few games I'm sure Trent will miss a year. I think it'll be at least 2-3 years before these changes start becoming a threat to anyone else in the division, I think the Redskins will at least be competitive but still be behind Dallas and Philadelphia until these developments start coming to fruition. This division could be a tough one in the future depending where it rotates year after year on who the leader is, depends who the Giants pick, I think the cowboys have the roster, they just need the coach that can ehhhh......do something about Jerry Jones. The Redskins just need a few years to rebuild and they should be a challenge at some point and I think the eagles are the better setup team at the moment. I want to say next year injuries won't hit them like they did this year, and they have their franchise QB already, it's just developing who you got and strengthening that depth for the team. Peterson seems like the guy to still keep around for them as well. I'm always excited when Change Happens in Washington, unfortunately they rarely last lol. I was excited for gruden but he was a fail, I was excited for shanahan but he was canned and it was nothing but drama with RG3 around and before then there was jim zorn (don't miss that guy lol). We go through to many coaches and get little out of it. Gruden was given 5 years though, but Allen also didn't help. I just hope finally there will be a real culture change and the Redskins can really be competitive not only in the regular season but making playoff pushes time to time.

Ugh. The end of season post for me. 😖
I'll start with SEA @ PHI. I'm proud of how hard they played. They seriously believe that they will find a way to win every game. That's awesome heart. Their roster was a ruin before the game started. Sanders and Ertz were no where near themselves. Then, Wentz got hurt. I hope he's okay, physically. It was immediately apparent that he'd been injured. I had initially thought that he'd hurt his chest after the defenders fell on him. The concussion was clear on the replay we all saw.
I can see how it wasn't flagged in game. He was moving forward and didn't slide. Was it unnecessary? Of course, just like every other extra chip players try to put on QBs. Was it late? Too close to call. It was helmet to helmet, intentional or not, so Clowney should be expecting a fine.
I hope Carson heals well physically. He's gotta be pretty low, as a competitor. Once again he gets to spend a full season shaking off the ESPN hate brigade/their Cowboys fans on staff. I'm sure this concussion somehow indicates to them that he's injury prone and fragile. (His brain wouldn't have been injured were he tougher, right?) Keep dreaming, guys. Our 20 practice squad guys made for a better team than your stars. Chew on that each time you think of dogging our QB.
The defense did pretty well on Russell. They gave up too many deep passes, but that's the Eagles' secondary. If they'd had a competitive offense, 17 points allowed would've been good. Old Man McCown was both terrible and endearing. He was lost, hearing footsteps and running into pressure even when the makeshift line held. That said, he was playing all-out hard. He left every bit of football he had left on that field.
I hope Seattle can get a bit healthier for next week. There's no quick fix for guys on IR. They honestly didn't look very good against a terrible Eagles roster. Sometimes you play just well enough to win, though. They were competitive with SF last week, so GB certainly isn't out of reach. Good luck and health to everyone left. For the first time in a long time, there aren't any teams I dislike in the Divisional Round. Crazy.
The rest of the games were more fun for me. I wouldn't have minded seeing Buffalo end their drought, but Houston is fine. Watson got to perform heroics that will last a career. Pretty cool. Watching Tennessee out-muscle and outsmart New England was sweet. Brady apologists started screaming, "He needs help," before the game was over. True, his receivers were trash and couldn't catch; but where is that thought process when they're criticizing every other QB dealing with shitty pass-catchers? Sadly, NE will probably try one more run next year. Hopefully, this was the end of the road, in terms of success.
I was rooting for Minnesota, as I preferred Philly face GB with a win. That said, Rudolph's push-off was blatant and epic. It should've been flagged. They also should've reviewed it. Why is this so hard for them? I don't much care for Sean Payton and the Saints, but they can't catch a break. At least this year they can't lay the loss quite so heavily at the feet of that one play, I guess.
Next week, I like the home teams, with the possible exception of GB. They've not really impressed me at any point. Seattle's gutted offensively, but Wilson can single-handedly beat a team. We'll see.
Edit: I left out my congratulations to the fans whose teams won and/or are still playing. Again, good health and good luck from here. These playoffs should be fun!

Another regular season has passed. Some surprises, some not.
Best team of 2019 goes to the Bengals. They worked so hard to be able to have the first pick in the NFL draft
Biggest surprise came from the Saints. Brees is out for 5 games with an injury. In comes Bridgewater to win all games Brees missed. Another surprise is owner David Tepper firing Ron Rivera. I didn't see that coming until after the season was over with. Another surprise is the Colts. Shortly after Luck announced his retirement, just before the start of the season, a lot of people didn;'t give the Colts a chance to do much of anything. Brissett stepped up with a good season. Yes the team ended up 7-9, but still better than what some thought they would do.
Best game of the season came in week 17 when the Fish beat NE knocking them to the #3 spot
Best accomplishment came from my own Carolina Panther Christian McCaffrey for rushing over 1000 yards and 1000 receiving yards in one season. The third player to do that.
Best repeat season came from my very own Panthers. The 2nd season in a row they played well the first half only to play very badly losing 15 of their last 16 games over two years.
This off-season will be an interesting one for my Panthers. Whoever is hired to be the next head coach might determine what will happen to a few players, most notably Cam Newton. One sure answer would be if Carolina choose a QB in the draft. If not, I say they go after defensive lineman to help on defense. I would suggest Raekwon Davis from Alabama. He's a big guy, 6'7". Come the start of the 2020 regular season, the Panthers will look very different from 2019.
This past wildcard weekend was good. The best part is Brady possibly throwing his last pass as a pick six. That might be a reason he would return instead of retiring. hahaha. Derrick Henry won the game for the Titans. Will he be able to do that again this weekend?
Saint lose for the third time because of one play in a game that was questionable.
This off-season could see Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, Eli Manning and Tom Brady retire. WOW
Source: Cowboys to hire Mike McCarthy as new coach
I believe McCarthy is a short term solution. The Cowboys need a long term coach. I thought McCarthy might end up here in North Carolina leading the Panthers.

I think the Matt Rhule hire is a great one for Carolina.
The Jets totally blew it last year by missing out on him because they tried to force certain assistants coaches on him.
Rhule is a head football coach not just the latest hot coordinator hire and he is a builder of teams.

Wildcard weekend was a lot of fun to watch this year for many of us. The Patriots got bounced out of the playoffs in their first wildcard game since 2009 by the humble Titans. The Vikings surprised almost all the sport analysts when they trounced the Saints. The Texans got their second
wild card win ever and my battered Seahawks will get to stay in the postseason for at least one more game. (Sorry Eagles) My divisional round picks. A week's rest and a home field game for the more elite postseason participants are usually enough to clear wildcard winners out of the competition. But not always... Saturday, 1/11/20 Minnesota Vikings @ San Francisco 49ers _____ 49ERS Tennessee Titans a@ Baltimore Ravens _____ RAVENS Sunday, 1/12/20 Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs _____ CHIEFS Seattle Seahawks @ Green Bay Packers _____ SEAHAWKS (not really, but I pick my guys anyway) Go Seahawks! There are still a few hours left for some wishful hyperbole...

Divisional Round
Saturday Jan 11
@4:35PM on NBC Vikings at 49ers - If the Vikings play like they did against the Saints, they might win. 49ers
@8:15PM on CBS Titans at Ravens - Derrick Henry vs Mark Ingram. Both former Alabama running backs. Both Heisman winners. Both have won the National Championship. If Baltimore can stop Henry, they win. If Tennessee can prevent Jackson from making plays with his feet, they have a chance to win. Since the game is in Baltimore, the edge goes to the Ravens
Sunday Jan 12
@3:05PM on CBS Houston at KC - If the offensive line can give Watson time to throw, they win. Chiefs
@6:40PM on FOX Seattle at Green Bay - This game will be about the Wilson factor. Can the Pack slow down Wilson? Seattle

Just watched highlights from that Titans/Ravens game...i wanted the Ravens, but i gotta give the Titans credit, they played a great game and Henry (running back for the Titans?)...dude is a beast....that trick play where he threw for a TD?....crazy and even if that guy wasn't available, the QB for the Titans was wide open on the right side during that trick play...the Ravens was frozen solid by that and didn't expect it..lol
As far as the Ravens go?...looking at the highlights, it looks like the Ravens receivers let Jackson down...i mean these guys was dropping wide open catches and jackson was putting these passes right on the mark....i put the blame on his receivers here....you gotta catch those passes in big games like this.....also it seemed like the Ravens O-line couldn't hold the Titans either...every play that Ravens O-line was getting pushed into the face of jackson who was trying to stay in the pocket and not be predictable with his legs, but the O-line couldn't hold them to save their life.
Congrats to the Titans tho...

The Titans are really coming through being the underdogs. It's hard for me to say or not, but with some of Baltimore's players having 3 weeks off it's possible rust was a bit of an issue. To many penalties, Jackson having 3 turnovers and those WRs dropping to many passes. I think WR and another rusher on that line will do them some good for next season.
I think the Titans can beat the Texans if they beat KC, Tennessee vs KC might be a good matchup.

There's a flu bug going around the Packers locker room. We had this same thing happen in 2016 before the NFCCG, where we fell flat against the Falcons. Seattle is pretty depleted, so I don't think we're rightly screwed tonight, but after that? F my life.

Not a bad set of games this weekend. I honestly thought Kansas City was going to screw the pooch the same way Baltimore did, but they pulled it out.
So, 49ers-Chiefs Super Bowl?

There's a flu bug going around the Packers locker room. We had this same thing happen in 2016 before the NFCCG, where we fell flat against the Falcons. Seattle is pretty depleted, so I don't think we're rightly screwed tonight, but after that? F my life. Nope. Just too depleted. But now that it's over and done with, the best of luck to you guys going forward.

Panthers LB Luke Kuechly announces retirement at 28
That's going to leave a very big hole in the defense to fill. He's one of the best LB's in the league. I would guess it's because the number of head injuries he's had.
Sources: LSU's Joe Brady to become Panthers' offensive coordinator
I didn't believe he would leave LSU especially after the team won the National Championship game last night. Tepper has deep pockets. Curious to see what happens next for the Panthers.

Conference Championship Sunday
Sunday Jan 19
@3:05PM on CBS
Titan at KC - Titans won the first game back in week 10. Henry had a big day. He will have to have another big day for the Titans to win. Titans defense need to contain Hill and Kelce, and hope the defensive line can put pressure on MaHomes. KC just needs to stop Henry. Titans
@6:40PM on FOX Packers at 49ers - Packers got beat bad by the 49ers during the regular season. For the Pack to win, the offensive line needs to give Rodgers time to throw the ball who had a poor day in that loss. Key matchup will be if they can slow down the rookie Bosa. Packers
