Ughhhh, ... Rodgers is gonna cost us an arm and a leg. Aaron Rodgers is 34, even if he is a known champion. I see him getting a huge raise, but a 5 year contract? What do you think? Jimmy G. is only 26. Otherwise, I don't think they would have signed him 5 years. Brady is 40, Brees is almost there, both just led their teams to the playoffs and are still playing at an elite level. Rodgers has expressed a desire to outplay Brady, who wants to play well beyond 40. He will have to reinvent his game a bit as the legs go, given how much he likes to run/scramble, but he has more arm to spare than those two ever did. From a purely physical standpoint (assume no catastrophic injury or a change-of-heart), I think he can pull it off and play at a high level well beyond 5 years. And affable as he is, he also has a bit of an ego and is not the kind of person who is okay with lesser QBs getting paid more than him. He is going to want to be paid like the best in the league.

The funny thing is, a lot of people like to rip Brady for being outwardly "arrogant" or "douchey," but he has always taken quite a bit less money than he's worth (arguably the best in the league, yet often not even one of the Top-5 highest paid QBs), and has done so for the purpose of allowing his team to attract and retain talent around the rest of the roster. That's a great attitude, if you ask me, and worthy of a few championships as a reward. Also, people who know the guy personally never have a bad word to say about him: www.quora.com/What-is-Tom-Brady-like-in-personHe gets a bad rap, IMO.

Brady gets a bad rap because he's a sore loser. I've seen him walk off the field after his team has lost without making any effort to shake hands with members of the opposing team. A couple of times he's had a pouty face look.
As far as what he makes. I'm sure if he wanted to get paid more, he would talk to Kraft who would say 'sure, no problem'. I don't see why he would need to. He also makes a lot with endorsements.

Brady taking those paycuts definitely help (also why I loved Tim Duncan so much for the spurs). As a team you have to appreciate a guy who could easily demand more money but chooses not to. It's stupid to me how certain players are all about wining but don't help their team financially to reach that goal when they take as much money as possible. I won't argue that they aren't worth said money, but don't talk about winning when your contract doesn't prove the case. Even if these guys made a quarter of what they currently make, they be hell of a lot richer than me and making more than enough to live off of. as for Brady's attitude: it's just the on field stuff that bothers certain people. I agree you'll never see people talk bad of him as a person, but on the field he has a history of being a sore loser when things don't go his way and when things do, there's videos of him getting in an opponents face and just yelling at them lol. I don't hold it vs him however cause there are players like that every where. Kudos to those with great on field attitudes but having a bad attitude doesn't bother players and it doesn't mean the individual is a bad person either.

Tom Brady's book is probably going to sell really well... The TB12 Method: How to Achieve a Lifetime of Sustained Peak PerformanceI wonder how many players would be willing to follow an 80% vegetable diet? Tom Brady has an extremely disciplined life style. How many players would be willing to do this if they thought it would make them play better? Would Aaron Rodgers go this far?

^^ regarding kickers: I personally believe they should just get rid of kickers, remove the position from existence and make teams have to go for it on 4th all the time. I'd make some changes to a few things to make this better work but there won't be any 3 points given to you for partially making it to the end zone.

If the Jets draft mason rudolph in the 2nd round and go with mccown while watching many other teams get their qb i'll be danging from the nearest bridge.

Kelce’s speech at the Eagles parade was the greatesr soeech ever. God damn it was beautiful. Yes, it was phenomenal. It was probably the best sports-related public addresss of all time. Beautiful! I don’t have any issues with Brady, but don’t give him too much credit for the money. He’s in the unique position of being married to a top-earning super-model. Her income dwarfs any NFL player’s, including QBs. It’s always been a huge advantage for the Pats. He’s more than recouping that salary in endorsements and legacy. Pretty much. Mostly see above. I don't see a lot of hand shaking on football fields generally. Do you tune out at the 0:00? There’s a lot of handshakes, hugs, praying, conversation with friends from other teams and the occasional jersey swap. I think Brady just hates losing so much that he needs to cool down after a loss. He made a gracious tweet 2 days after the SB loss. Roger Federer used to be a total douche every time Rafa Nadal whooped his ass. He once cried after the AO Final. Rafa hugged and consoled him. Embarrassing. (Imagine how hard it is for some tennis players to stand there for the trophy presentation after losing.) Roger is a much better sport these last few years. Age has put things into perspective for him. Brady clearly isn’t going to be quite the same, but I don’t think he’s being a douche, exactly. He just can’t manage to be a gracious loser until around Wednesday. Obsessively competitive, that one. Good luck to them, especially after Josh McDaniels and his dirty shenanigans. Yeah, I wish him the best. I try to remember to be happy for him. Exactly what I feared would happen did happen. John went to MIN just before McDouchewaffle backed out on Indy. Then, Reich takes the Indy job. If McDickbag had taken the job, Philly would still have Reich. If he’d bailed just a day or two sooner, DeFilippo could’ve stayed and been OC in Philly. (If the Jags could’ve beaten the Patriots+Refriots, who knows?) Ugh. McD’s stench lingers, like he crapped the bed before leaving Minneapolis. At least Philly hung an L on them in SB LII. That’s the most important thing.

Only sport which does seem to have a traditional is Hockey. Brady had more important things to worry about (like looking after his family ) and then he stopped Derek Barnett after the game, congratulated him for the win and shook his hand. But sure Brady is a poor sport for doing something ninety percent of the league does.

colfoley, I didn’t ask if you watched the SB. I asked if you watch much football, or if you tune out when the clock expires. You’re way off on your 90% estimate. It’s more like 99% of guys hang out after to meet with the opposing squads and staff. SBs are unique in that there’s total pandemonium, and one team just experienced total heartbreak. I get the impression you don’t watch much football. Don’t be such a Brady apologist. I explicitly said I don’t think he’s a douche. He just has a very difficult time accepting a loss. You talk about how he congratulated Barnett, yet I’d bet money that Barnett chased him down. He wanted to shake Brady’s hand. Brady just wanted to be elsewhere. Still, generally no one is going to refuse a handshake, unless there is beef. Brady had no beef. He just wanted to get off the field and prepare for the challenge of calmly answering the media’s inane questions.

Looks like Barnett Fletcher Cox grabbed him on the way out; and Brady and Barnett talked well after the game. Barnett says, “He was cool as hell,” which should lay to rest fans’ hurt feelings about Brady’s handshaking habits. Dude is 40yo and a legend. As long as he isn’t actively a dick, I don’t think anyone cares what he does. He’s certainly earned as much respect and leeway as any player ever. I’m sure my efforts to post these pics would fail, but here’s a link to some pics and an article. www.google.com/amp/ftw.usatoday.com/2018/02/tom-brady-foles-handshake-super-bowl-lii-photos-video-eagles-patriots-quarterback-sportsmanship/amp
