30 fps is acceptable to me, to an extent. For A Plague Tale: Requiem, I don't think it's a question of optimization. Let's keep in mind that Asobo is a much smaller studio compared to ones like Guerilla, Nuaghty Dog, Santa Monica, Ubisoft, BioWare, and so on (the Plague Tale games aren't even technically AAA titles). They don't have the same amount of resources, and this is their first true next-gen only game on the new consoles. They more than likely wanted to put a heavy emphasis on visuals than performance. This is a gorgeous looking game, and they probably didn't want to make comprises for framerate. Gotham Knights, on the other hand was made by a larger studio, and looks more like a cross-gen game. That studio sacrificed performance for co-op. I can live with 30fps, but I can see a difference with 60fps. What I want the most is a stable framerate, when a game is pushing too hard and the framerate is unstable it makes me feel unwell just like using VR. Which is why I think it was the right call to keep the game locked at 30fps, instead of risking an unstable framerate (knowing how visually demanding the game is compared to other next-gen titles), at least until Asobo feels ready to release a performance mode, if they want to. Whether the framerate is 30 or 60 shouldn't determine the overall quality of the game itself. A lot of games give you the option to choose, and there are more than likely plenty of players who use graphics mode over performance. People are just mad because they can't choose, and accuse the game of being poorly optimized.

The new Plague Tale game, which I pre-ordered for PS5 because I loved the first game, is locked at 30fps on PS5, and Xbox Series. Apparently, it's a visually demanding game. Being a true next gen title, I can understand why. I guess the developers made this decision, because unlocking the framerate would have required some creative sacrifices? I don't know. There "next gen only" games that can run at 60fps, but they are mostly exclusives, like Returnal, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. This is a 3rd party game on multiple platforms.
Did I want to play A Plague Tale: Requiem at 60fps? Yes, but I would rather play the game at a pretty stable 30fps than experience constant frame dips.

I recently finished The Last Of Us Part 2 around 1 am Friday morning. I don't care which basement dweller I piss off. The game was incredible. It's the most emotionally brutal game I've ever played. It reminds you what kind of a world TLOU take place, where there are no heroes or villains within the line up of main characters, only survivors with different perspectives. Ellie & Abby are two sides of the same coin. It shows what pain and vengeance (for both Ellie AND Abby) can do to the human mind. It's not all black and white. Anyone who has a problem with how I feel about the game can shove a porcupine up their @$$ for all I care.

I just finished The Last Of Us Part II around 1 am. I'm sorry, but this game was incredible. I don't know what people were smoking when the game released two years ago. TLOU P2 deserves its praises. The game is emotionally brutal (even more than the first game), and it doesn't hold your hand (it shouldn't have to). It's gripping, it's engaging, and so on. It reminds you what kind of a world it's set in. There are no heroes or villains. There's more grey than black & white. Take our two main leads for example., Ellie and Abby. Neither of them are good or bad. We see two survivors; two different perspectives. Both of them in an endless cycle of vengeance and pain. Yes, Abby killed Joel, and even though it's messed up, I get it. To Ellie, Joel was her friend and even a father figure, but for Abby, he is the man who murdered her father and took away the one possible chance of a cure for humanity. Both Ellie and Abby go to a very dark place, especially Ellie, and in the end they're both battered and broken. Powerful stuff. So yeah, loved the game.

So....that's pretty much it. No new Playstation port for AC1, no patch for Syndicate on PS5, and no 60fps patch for the legacy games on PS5. That trailer they made for the 15th Anniversary. Celebrating a series with two games I can't even play.

I finished A Plague Tale: Innocence last night. I loved this game. It got very frustrating during the second to last chapter (Chapter XVI: Coronation), but I loved the game regardless. I can't wait for the sequel next month.

I think I understand why some of the AC games are still 30 fps on PS5, as proven of Xbox. Making an older game 60 fps can make it buggy if not patched properly by the devs.

Yeah...my Xbox keeps crashing, specifically the games, and I'm getting tired of it. It's been happening since AC1. I'm just going to play on my PS5 instead. I already have save files for the Ezio Trilogy, and AC3 on the PS5. I don't have a save file for Black Flag and Unity on PlayStation, but I completed them on PC a while back, so I might just go straight to Origins, or play something else.
Anyway, it's too bad Odyssey was the first in the franchise to have New Game Plus. It would be nice to replay AC2 with NG+ someday, instead of creating a whole new file.

He's the temporary protagonist to just to set the background but you will play him for a bit until you meet the advertised protagonist. Nice. Haytham is an intriguing character so far. But I had a feeling he was not the main protagonist because I remember the trailers, and it showed a different protagonist. Whenever I play a game that allows me to choose either a male or female character, I'm always going to choose the latter. I mean, why the hell not? I have so many other games in my library on both Playstation & Xbox with male leads. There's no reason for it to be a damn bro fest. I prefer FemShep over MaleShep, for example. So when I finally reach Odyssey & Valhalla, I'm going to pick Kassandra, and FemEivor.

I can't wait to eventually reach games like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. I still have a long way to go since I restarted my binge of the series (I'm no stranger to the Ezio Trilogy, 3, Black Flag, and Unity, and I play the original for the first time about a month ago).
This especially towards Odyssey. Ancient Greece was always an interest of mine. Does it take place before or after the fall of Troy & Achilles?

CODEX @thecodexnetworkUbisoft shares an Animus Next image with Morse Code stating “coming soon”, on their Weibo account🚀 Thanks @hashiqigou for the heads up! What do you think this mysterious project will be? The picture features Chinese text that roughly translates to "Rewind the past, Improve the present, Define the future". Part of me wonders if this is a big remaster project for the legacy games (From AC1 to Syndicate) for next gen, but might just be wishful thinking on my part.

One thing I don't like about Brotherhood (and the games after) is the "Full Synchronization" mechanic. It can be frustrating at times. Sometimes I just want to get things done in my own terms.

@hanako Ikezawa Nah. I'd rather keep FPS Boost enabled. The response time is not good at 30fps (I reloaded a save on my PS5 and even disabled FPS Boost on my Xbox to check). The fluidity in combat was lost. Besides a resolution decrease, these games really do look good running at 60fps. I was exaggerating when saying they looked cheap. The PC ports do, though.

Okay, so I finished Assassin's Creed 1 today. Altogether, it was fine. I enjoyed it. However, it was a bit uneventful & inconsequential. The criticisms were definitely on point. It was repetitive as f**k. The combat was clunky at times, and there are some elements (which only exist in this game) that I won't be missing. Most of the meat involving story and lore starts with AC2, even on Desmond's side of the plot. AC1 from beginning to end showed what I already knew. To be honest, I got the gist of it when playing AC2 for the first time on PS3 many years ago. In the end, I'm glad Assassin's Creed 2 was my first AC game back in 2011/2012, and not this.
Now make no mistake. AC1 isn't a bad game in the slightest. The locations were neat. The music was great. It had great atmosphere, especially with the time period. Altair was pretty cool (though he had a more proper accent in Revelations), and so on. This definitely felt like a prototype for something much bigger. Ubisoft at the time was probably testing new grounds with this game. They most likely took the feedback, kept what worked, and abandoned the stuff that didn't work when making Assassin's Creed 2.

Were there any reasons why the original Assassin's Creed was never released on PS4/PS5? It was enhanced on Xbox, essentially becoming a sort-of remaster, but that was on Microsoft's end, not Ubisoft. Why do you think that Ubisoft hasn't worked on an official remaster, especially on modern PlayStation consoles?
Does Ubisoft feel that the game is inconsequential in a way? Granted, from what I've played so far, it is repetitive. Even though I'm enjoying the game, some of the criticisms are on point, but that doesn't mean it's a bad game. It's just the first game. Ubisoft was just getting started with this series. They kept what worked & got rid of the things that didn't work when developing AC2.

Update: Assassin's Creed froze and there was a loud buzzing noise, similar to a BSOD error on a PC. I don't know if this has happened to anyone here playing the first game on Xbox, but this has happened twice now. When this happened, I was able to press the Xbox Button on the controller, go to the home screen, and quit the game. This isn't a hardware issue, is it? Just the game? I have never had that happen in an AC game but I play on PC, sorry I know that isn't a help. I'm playing the game on Xbox Series X, and it has happened twice. The console didn't shut down, and I was able to go to the home screen and quit the game without restarting the console. I saw this happen on someone else's gameplay video yesterday, but I can't find it anymore. It was the exact same game I just hope it's not a hardware issue, and I hope it doesn't happen to other games.

This is a bump for my previous comment. How hard is it to patch a game for an unlocked frame rate? If it's a simple update from Ubisoft's end, why not just do it??? Framerate can be tied to different things in the game such as animations or cinematics. So if they increase the framerate it harms the player experience. I cannot specifically say for any Ubisoft game that is the case, but I have seen developers in the past say that about their games. That's why I've decided to just play Assassin's Creed on my Xbox Series X. At least there's a performance advantage for most of the older games there. Not only that, but I have a chance to play the original game for the first time, as well. Also, Syndicate runs properly.
