That fucking idiot realize that he gave these people to a fucking lynch mob for the rest of their fucking career?
Of course he does. He just doesn’t care. He makes his living doing this to people. Yes, how dare he call out stuidos for working developers like slaves because their bosses can't make up their damned minds about their project until the last minute? How dare he call out awful, reprehensible business practices that lead many employees to take extended leave because they can't take the work enviroment. How dare he...

Read the whole thing, it's impressive what they still managed to build in those 18 months. Basically all trouble started with DA:I getting great reviews and all those GOTY awards. It encouraged BioWare to take a path that lead to mayhem with ME:A and Anthem. That was honestly the hardest part for me to read (aside from all the harsh treatment of the developers themselves etc) It...almost makes me wish my favorite DA game actually sucked, in hopes they would have woken up sooner to their ridiculous attitude.

Yeah. Jason is crying about this blog post right now.

They gave themselves to the "lynch mob" by failing epicly, at almost every level.

Jesus christ...I'm so tired of my cynical thoughts towards this studio being right. Just as I suspected, they didn't have a clue what to do. and as usual, Frostbite sucks for anything that isn't an FPS game....sigh.
This was almost, verbatum, the story of FF 14 1.0 again....this is not the type of story you should ever see more than once...
Also ofc, in typical EA fashion, all they cared about was stupid graphics....

I think Bioware needs to be honest with themselves, and stop being publicly dismissive. Obviously I don't expect them to crap on themselves and their employees in public, but Bioware seriously needs to stop being so defensive about anything negative towards them, it's getting a little ridiculous.

As badly as I want to play this game ASAP... it kills me to say but...i would rather they wait for next gen. Who knows how much better DAI would have been if they skipped last gen! I cannot bare the thought of this game not being "as good" as it might otherwise be due to hardware limitations! I would buy PS5 for this game, no question.

We want something good PERIOD. You have any idea how many damn hours I've put in, and have yet to get a SINGLE Legendary to drop? Wait, just for clarification, you have ZERO Legendary items? No Weapons or Components? Correct, easily over 100 hours played at least. Have been fully kitted in Masterworks for weeks, have been on GM2 for weeks. Zero.

You Guys Are Being Bamboozled By The Hacker Known As 4ChanI almost believed it for a moment, but I came to my senses. Because I realized if a company truly existed that could do all of this...we would know about them by now, from somewhere more reliable. Like the Blackwater Company, no one ever sees them, but we know they actually exist, or at least did at one time. It's how the Indoctrination theory got legs in ME3. It fits things that happen in the game, gives an explanation to Bioware screw ups many players can relate to and voila... The AI conspiracy got debunked too fast though, I had so much fun reading through it. I'll tell you what, people almost got me with the Indoctrination Theory. Because I wanted to believe there was a like some super deep meaing we were missing. Nope, it was just rushed garbage.

After playing Destiny and the Division one of my favorite things is that Bioware gave our character and personality. You don't have to quietly stand in the corner and twiddle your thumbs while all the important people talk at you. Meaningful nods are not satisfying. I do have to say, the "silent protagonist" trope does definetly feel like something that just shouldn't be around anymore, unless your doing text intensive cRPGs. With all these newer, more cinematic styled games, it just all feels horribly out of place at this point. It's like your not even a person, your just some reprogrammed T-1000 doing what people tell you to do.

Step 1: Make 67 vanity items Step 2: Make sure half of them are vinyls nobody cares about. Step 3: Label them half-assed. Step 4: Dilute the loot pool with useless trash. Who in their right mind even thinks for one second this is a good idea? FIRE THIS GUY! Step 5: Do step 4 again, just to make sure it's watery enough. Step 6: Introduce maximum timer for loot pool that no one can achieve who doesn't play games 8 hours a day. Step 7: Let everything be coded by a zero-armed, one-point-five legged monkey (he's sensitive about it, don't ask) consultant who was quickly hired on to this project with no prior knowledge of the code pitfalls. Damnit bioware, I love you 'till the end of times, but why must we go through this every time?
I found the crafting stuff quite useful as I'm working on my second pilot right now and I'm crafting new epics and masterworks all the time as I gain levels!
I think the system is fine with having common stuff amidst the good stuff. That makes finding the good stuff more special.
The trouble is, everyone seems to have this "give me the best of everything and give it to me now" mentality about loot and I don't see how that can be remotely sustainable. You'd end up with all the good stuff so quickly that everything afterwards would be disappointing.
Bioware have to sustain the anticipation of finding good stuff for months on end until new content releases bigger and better. Cater to what everyone seems to be asking for and there'll be nothing new worth getting inside of a few weeks!
This is particularly important for the cosmetics because that's how they plan on funding the game. If everything is good and it's easy to get it all nobody will need to buy any more with real money.
No, nobody wants "all the good stuff right now!" We want something good PERIOD. You have any idea how many damn hours I've put in, and have yet to get a SINGLE Legendary to drop? Jesus christ WoW was more forgiving than this! I'm sorry, but crafting, and crafting materials, are junk. Crafting in this game is a ridiculous feature, and all the rewards in these chests that ARENT stupid crafting materials, are crappy, half assed little helmet stickers. if you honestly think these are rewards worth persuing, I seriously have to question the gaming public at large. Online games are suppose to have a Carrot and Stick approach, only this game has no carrot, it has only a damn stick, and if your lucky you might find a rotten, half eaten carrot down the road behind a dumpster.

"Here are my ideas for how to fix Anthem’s very, very obvious problem with Legendaries: Obviously, drop rates in the wild need to be dramatically increased. I’m talking like, a 300-400% increase in drop rates for legendaries, which still might not even be enough. Taking a page out of Destiny’s book with its powerful milestones, you could have it so there was a path to a guaranteed legendary each week. Your first Stronghold clear of the week gets you one legendary skill, your first Legendary contract gets you one legendary component. Your first Legendary mission gets you one Legendary weapon. So even if you have the worst luck in the history of time, you still can get three legendaries a week by continuing to play the game, which will help you continue to make progress and search for rolls. Use all those damn crafting materials for something. Crafting is without question the most pointless system currently in Anthem, yet the game continues to dump materials on us like we need them to breathe. Allow players to craft legendaries after amassing enough of this crap. I’m just pulling these numbers off the top of my head, but say 200 Masterwork embers, 100 javelin parts, 300 chimeric compound/alloy and 400 Epic embers can craft you a random legendary. That way, even if all your drops are garbage, you are at least crawling toward a new legendary at all times. There needs to be some sort of bad luck protection in place. In Destiny, you can predict that every fourth legendary drop is going to be a powerful Prime Engram. Every so often, you’ll get an exotic drop instead of a Prime Engram. In Anthem, if you’re on a particularly bad run, there should be some sort of system in place where every say, 20-30 Masterwork drops, your next one will be a Legendary, and this resets every time you get a “pity” drop or a wild one. Again, it would tell players that perseverance will pay off eventually." Quoted from link The bold part in particular is what I agree with. The Crafting system is an absolute joke, I've no idea why it even exists honestly.

I swear to god, since 1.0.4 half of my drops are freaking Embers, 1/3 of them are blues, and the rest are purples. For me personally, Loot is even worse than it was, I didn't think that was possible lol I noticed the same drop problem. I recorded all aspects of five runs in a grandmaster level 2 stronghold, and by the time I finished the fifth stronghold I was so disgusted with the information I had that I just want to delete the darn game. For information sake, I consider strongholds to be a consistent test of drops. Open play has differences in player interactivity and world events. However, the same mobs, chests, and events occur in a stronghold. Although, I have noticed since the last patch that there seems to be one person who rushes through the content now, which forces all others to join them at the next stage. Therefore, the people who want to kill everything, in an attempt to gain more drops and more chances at legendaries, are forced to jump ahead to where the person who rushed through is. Sure, they fixed an issue for those who had to wait for slowpokes to catch up, but they screwed the players who want to kill every mob. It seems like a happy medium, where people who want to rush can and people who want to kill everything can, because the rushers are not going to be able to defeat the chest enounters alone. I swear I'm so tried of having to skip all those Skorpions in Tyrant Mine. Just today I was getting multiple loot drops from them (all trash loot ofc, but still). And because of the same shit that happens every time, I can't kill those mobs because I get tethered to the next encounter. I'm so damn tired of how the tether works. I want to fully clear Tyrant Mine every time to maximize my loot chances, like those 2 bonus encounters Bioware hid, and all those trash mobs between the "encounters". But no, I never can because everyone just runs ahead as fast as possible.

You know, sadly I am starting to think more and more that this is true. The problem seems to be, that they aren't sure how to actually do that. It kinda feels like they just didn't know what to do after they figured out the flying and the combat loop. I mean I honestly cannot comprehend the thought process that went into this end game loot/inscription system. The only rational I can come up for it is "Hey! It's all totally random! This will keep players busy for ages trying to get something good! Brilliant!" That is almost verbatim the explanation Ben Irving gave in SWTOR. I played SWTOR somewhat, but i can safely say that was the one Bioware game I just didn't keep up with or kept track of. It was never a game I could ever maintain interest in despite the strong narrative, and to this day I've no idea why that is. I tried so damn hard to love that game. On paper it was everything I could have ever wanted from it. I think I went back about 4 times trying to get into it. I would hate to pin all of Anthems problems at one guys feet. After all Anthem was the "all hands on deck" game for Bioware...but from everything all the old time SWTOR fans keep saying...I'm starting to wonder... To quote bladefist from the "Today in Anthem" thread (since idk how to post quotes from other threads) "I've never played a game so obsessed with giving me garbage". This latest patch is the worst reward experience for me yet. Half my loot drops from mobs and chests are freakings Embers, and the long awaited Elysium Chests give me nothing but damn crafting materials! It's almost like Bioware has forgotten that games are suppose to provide compelling rewards.

So, is there a theoretical list that gets crossed off for Elysian chests? I've gotten nothing but crafting materials, which is pretty annoying for a limited reward. I've never played a game so obsessed with giving me garbage. In addition to crafting materials, I got 3 common decals (basically forehead stickers) and some cloth. This is advertised GAAS content, you'd think they'd want players to feel more rewarded. I love playing the game, but they seem hell bent on giving me tons of reasons to never turn it on...

Or a "mark as junk" a la DAI and then make use of the junk all junk function. My issue is/was that when you get a crapton of items holding the related button for x amount of time just git a little grindy. Especially pre update when I could read the details 2+x over before it went to junk/salvage Asking for a feature from a five year old game made by the same studio? That's asking way too much from game. Bioware did not look to past games for loot - not even their own. They want to be unique. You know, sadly I am starting to think more and more that this is true. The problem seems to be, that they aren't sure how to actually do that. It kinda feels like they just didn't know what to do after they figured out the flying and the combat loop.
