It's the weekend so chances are that none of the big websites will be posting anything today or tomorrow. It'll probably mostly be independent streamers/YouTubers.

Romance related question: Since Ryders are canonically 22 years old, what is the age range you would be willing to romance with them? Or do you just headcanon their age to something different? I would only care about the LI's looks and personality TBH, not how old they are on paper. In fact, I think having Ryder romance someone older could make for an interesting relationship dynamic and storyline (but that doesn't mean I'd necessarily prefer an older LI, either).

Ew. Hahaha. JK. To each his own. I tend to not date guys over the age of 25 I'm pretty sure that Cullen is older than 25 in DAI ...

It's going to depend heavily on how much reviewers will let all this pre-release animation drama cloud their judgement. It could well end up like it did for The Order where hating on it simply became the cool thing to do and most reviewers just jumped on the bandwagon and gave it unfairly low scores. Then again, The Order was a new IP so I don't think that MEA will necessarily be treated the same way which is why I went with 80-84.

So... I thought the day 1 patch had already been applied. What we've seen is what we'll get. So "new" Sara doesn't make any sense. What say you, coder folks? Someone over in the Character Creator thread said they compared the video showing "new" Sara to other videos with "old" Sara and it looks like the one with "new" Sara is actually an older build (apparently, there's some missing or unfinished stuff visible in the backround of some scenes) so it would appear as if "new" Sara isn't actually new at all.

Are these guys just playing the EA Access trial or do they have some sort of review copy? If it's the latter, I guess it's possible that EA France handed out review copies from a different build than the trial (either by mistake or because this is a newer version... which would be weird because the trial version supposedly has the day-one patch included... who knows). EDIT: Okay, reading that last post, it definitely sounds like the version they're playing is older. I guess whoever handed out the French review copies fucked up.

For some reason, whenever I make a post or edit a post, the site automatically adds the following code to the end of it: [span style="border-radius:2px;text-indent:20px;width:auto;padding:0px 4px 0px 0px;text-align:center;font:bold 11px/20px "color:rgb(255, 255, 255);background:rgb(189, 8, 28) url("opacity:1;border:medium none;"]Merken[/span] If I edit a post, it'll add another one of those at the end even if it's already there so there'll be two in a row (or three if I edit the post a second time). I can edit the posts to manually delete it but I have to do it for every single post I make and every time I edit one of those posts which is starting to get a bit annoying. (I won't edit it out of this post just so you can see it in action.) Not sure what the "Merken" is referring to, either. In German, "merken" means "to notice" or "to remember" (I'm German and my system language is German) but I don't know where it's coming from or what it's trying to tell me, haha . Any idea why it's happening or how to fix it? (EDIT: And of course it didn't do it for this post. Maybe because this is an opening post and all the others were replies? I don't know.) EDIT 2: LMAO and now it's completely gone even when replying to other threads. Guess it was opening this thread that fixed it? I don't know. Still strange but it looks like everything's okay now. EDIT 3: Right, so I've just had it show up again when I quoted someone and then switched from Preview to BBCode. But it doesn't seem to be showing up anymore when I edit posts... I think. This is super weird.

That implies a serious breakdown in project management, doesn't it? Could also mean that they thought they'd have more time than they ended up having or that something unexpected slowed them down, etc. Could have any number of reasons.

Only the big cinematic stuff gets mocapped and/or hand crafted. The rest is proc gen Yeah, but do they also do facial mo-capping for those cinematics or just body mo-capping? Surely there's some human input, though. I mean, you can program a system to assign certain lip/mouth movements to certain sounds and thus do the lip-syncing automatically but that system can't add in facial expressions which are appropriate to the situation at hand automatically, it would need a human to actually tell it what kind of expression is appropriate (though, like I said, they obviously wouldn't animate unique expressions for anything but those big cutscenes, they would use some sort of universal blendshape set, I'd assume). Plus the blendshapes the system uses for lip movements would likely also have been done by hand... I think .

They didn't do facial motion-capturing on this... did they? I mean, we saw the voice actors recording their lines and there was no mo-cap equipment around, no markers on their faces, etc. Wait, I guess they may have mo-capped the faces for main story cutscenes? Definitely not for conversations and some of the more minor cutscenes, though so at least the conversations could probably be fixed without having to go back into every single one of them and do adjustments as they are probably all using the same set of master blendshapes (either one set per character or, more likely, one set per species, maybe with unique sets for the Ryder twins or sth, I don't know) so they'd "only" have to fix those master blendshapes to fix all the conversations using them. Of course, it's still possible that they won't get the resources to do that as a patch but it's definitely much more doable than if they had to actually adjust every conversation one by one .

One thing I noticed was that the logical (cog wheel) dialogue options don't always seem strictly logical. I mean, I'm a pretty logical/rational person (not quite Sheldon-Cooper-level hyperrational but certainly going in that rough direction) and several times I found myself thinking that a given logical option didn't at all fit the reaction a very logical or rational person would have actually had to the situation at hand. I can't remember specific examples but it definitely felt like some of those lines were written by someone who doesn't actually get how logical people work . (Either that or some of the lines weren't actually written to fit a specific category and just retroactively assigned to one.)

The facial animations in that reel honestly don't look that bad (definitely far better than MEA's). And even if you disagree, it's from 2013 so it's four years old. People can grow and improve a lot in four years.

Hi there ! I wasn't on the old BSN (though I did, of course, hear of the notorious discussions about the taste of alien sweat ) but I've been a Mass Effect fan since playing ME2 on PS3 ages ago and then also started following Dragon Age around the time of Inquisition's release, largely thanks to Dorian's glorious moustache. (Well, to be perfectly honest, I didn't actually like the moustache at first but it's really... grown on me? LOL.) What ended up bringing me here was my worry that there wouldn't be any gay male LI in Andromeda that I'd find attractive and after reading through several pages of discussion on the subject, I decided to just register and join the conversation . (BTW: Can anyone tell me what the max resolution for avatars is on here?)

The spoilery stuff about Gil's romance sounds awesome. Now I kinda wish he was my type (but he really, really isn't, unfortunately). I'll join the people who're hoping for a third full M/M romance. And even if Dr Carlyle won't end up being an LI, I've already got some fan fic ideas involving him and Scott ... Not really feeling the new Sara face, btw. I know a lot of people liked to shit on the old one but I kinda liked it. This one looks a bit generic by comparison. Perhaps they should just include an option to switch between the old and new one (like TW3 has for some of its female characters).
