Also, what this does is shield them from any additional bad PR coming from this. Until the two months are over and all the patches are out, whenever someone complains about the M/M content, people can just point to the patch announcement and say "it's going to get fixed" (even though we don't actually know that). I'm not saying that that's necessarily their intention or that this is what they'll do but, theoretically speaking, they could just wait out the two months and hope that people will have moved on or calmed down by then. That's why it'd be nice to know what kinds of specific fixes and improvements they've got in mind.

I don't think that the "duty as a man" comment is the only problem but it's certainly part of it. For me, the big problem is just that the whole baby part of Gil's arc is nonsensical and terribly written and as Jill is so closely linked to that (and does say that terrible line), she's pretty much become synonymous with it for me.
I mean, look, Gil doesn't even really want kids. Up until the very end he's not even sure if he's ready to be a dad and when he does decide to have a kid it feels very forced and I never got the sense that he was fit to be a parent yet which, you just really shouldn't have kids if you don't feel ready for them. And why does he decide to have a kid anyway? Because of Jill, the reproduction expert who really should know better than to pressure people who're clearly not ready (let alone her best friend) into parenthood. Then there's the issue of the whole thing just not making a whole lot of sense in the context of the story. They haven't even woken up everyone from the pods yet, they keep talking about resource shortages, there's a whole side mission that makes it very clear that people aren't supposed to be having babies yet but Jill, the reproduction expert who really should know better than to bring children into a world that can't sustain them, apparently didn't get the memo? TBH, I don't even get why she isn't still in a pod herself. It feels like the reproduction people would be among the last to be taken out of cryo seeing as they're more or less useless until the Initiative can feed and house everyone they brought with them.
The last issue I have with it isn't directly linked to Jill but it does have to do with the baby stuff so it is indirectly linked. I don't think we know the exact timeline over which the events of Andromeda take place but I can't imagine it's more than a few months which means, if you agree to raise the kid with him, Gil and Scott have only been together for a few months before they decide to have a kid with each other which is just an incredible display of idiocy on their part (and on the writers' part).
In conclusion, almost everything about this baby story feels off and weird. It seems like the kind of story they should've saved for the second game (and they definitely should've put more effort into writing it) and Jill is unfortunately-written at best and an utter idiot at worst.

Ugh god, don't pawn that mess off on us. Now you kinda made me wonder: WHat if Jill was the FEMALE HUMAN LESBIAN romance that is also a Squadmate... would you romance her? If randomly waking up pregnant-by-turkey-baster one day is your thing, sure.

So I finished a basic run-through of main story. Not going to go in depth till they patch it. I see multiple replays of Kadara in my future however, imo far and away the best part of the game ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I wish the pace was better for the romance but I'm excited to see what they do with it. I love the idea of Reyes and Ryder as Heleus' power couple, as someone mentioned earlier. Equally though I like having a female Ryder calling the shots with her crew and I can really see Reyes fitting in and being completely comfortable with a woman in charge and having her back. I guess sexism doesn't exist in ME so it would be cool to see such a relationship portrayed. Although I don't play Scott, I can see the same, a totally supportive and complementary relationship. They're the Caesar and Cleopatra of the Heleus cluster. But hopefully with less assassinations and suicides.

Going back to that pie chart posted earlier, I'm a bit confused. Didn't someone in this thread say one of the devs were surprised at the most popular romance? But all the expected ones were the most popular on that pie cart. So why would they be surprised? Unless I'm misremembering the post? I haven't seen the pie chart but I did see a poll from before the game was released and I'm pretty sure Reyes wasn't even in it and he ended up being the most/second most (seems to keep switching) romance in the post-release poll.

Very true. I just imagine is not that easy to get in and out of those armors. Kind ruins the urgency of someone pushing you up against the wall, if you have to stop for 10 minutes to remove layer after layer. But then again, perhaps Reyes has got deft hands. I just hope they removed Sloanes body first. lol The two reasons why I don't think they did the do in this cave (or at least I hope so) I headcanon it a bit different tho, although my Scott didn't intervene, he would still not be in the mood for anything remotely romantic after watching someone getting shot In my headcanon, the whole makeout scene happened later, after an argument about the whole scheming business and lying, until they finally settle their dispute. Haha, I actually like it being a bit macabre. But then I just generally like anti-heroes and unconventional stuff like that in my fiction/media and them making out while Sloane's body is still warm fits right into that. But yeah, they should've given you a middle option that would've allowed you to be pissed off without having to break up with him.

Wait I swear the only romancey scene with Reyes where Ryder is in armour is the dance scene? Also how do you get the option for Reyes and Ryder to run off to a supply closet together and... presumably... ya know? Ryder wears armor in the cave to. Which makes me think, they couldn't have done to much more than kiss, even if his email afterwards, suggested more. Its the very last thing he says to you. You find him aboard the Hyperion during the celebration, after the last main quest, when its crash landed on Meridian. He just teases you though. I wish you could say alright, grab his hand and drag him out of there He could've taken his armour off and put it back on afterwards ? I saw a picture on tumblr and google with Reyes and Ryder holding hands running off somewhere? Can't link it on my phone but if someone else can find it and link it and explain the context that would be great? So confused by what I've seen and heard? That's during they've had their first kiss and Reyes has found the Scotch, they run off hand-in-hand with the Scotch. The game then cuts to the rooftop scene.

Yeah but all the regular conversations you have with him in his Tartarus room are also in armour. I don't think there's an option for that. He merely mentions post-game on the Hyperion that he's found an empty supply closet/storage room/... (not sure about the exact wording) for the two of you to run off to but you cannot actually go with him.

^He looks a bit too twink-ish in that for my liking but it is well-drawn . Never too old for a pixel crush! The more I have the happier I am. Cullen is my ultimate husbando and Kaidan and Shepard together make me squeeee, all that tension after Horizon which I'm still not over. And now Reyes, sigh, I'm a happy girl and my husband thoroughly indulges me ♥ my toddler says Cullen and Kaidan's names everytime they are on the screen and I'm training her to say Reyes too... My husband always rolls his eyes... And then bought me the Pathfinder hoody and my 4 year son always try to convince us to buy him one too. He loves Mass Effect just as his mommy does *feeling very cozy in the hoody and stroking the arms* I wear it while playing Andromeda But he doesn't like me hanging on Reyes Every time I am in Kadara to speak with him, my son sends me back to Tempest He's probably jealous because he wants Reyes all for himself .

I would like to be able to wear my Tempest clothes when talking to Reyes but, on the other hand, I also like jumping across that fence . OKAY another question Do I have to check my video message immediately, or can I do some other missions? Because I came back ot the ship and there was a cut scene, giving me more missions. I feel it would be more organic if I answer the video after these missions, this way I could stretch out the romance, too I just don't want to go ahead with these missions then miss the rest of the romance I'm pretty sure that you can just go and do some other missions in between. (But not 100% sure.)

Look at us, discussing a sex scene we'll probably never get . Yeah, despite it being improvement to male romance options I fully expect the focus to be on Gil. It'll probably just add some scenes too ignoring the baby issue stuff.

Honestly, if they add a sex scene, I'd kind of like them to be bold enough to just show Scott bottoming for Reyes. I think that's the sort of thing they've been shying away from, showing their male protagonist who must appeal to the dudebros get fucked by another guy, but they should just go ahead and do it TBH. Would probably also make it easier to adapt the scenes for the other Ryder (though, depending on the position, they would probably have to tweak it a little - but then they'd have to do that, anyway, to account for the size difference between Scott and Sara). Although, I would kind of like the Reyes/Scott scene to show them being a bit rough with each other and I'm not sure whether BW would want to do that for the Sara scene... Look at us, discussing a sex scene we'll probably never get .

I will forever use the default name in any play through, just simply to hear him say Sara.*sigh* And here I thought I was getting to old for a pixel "crush". Damn you Reyes. It would be nice but my sister name is Sarah so too weird love my sis but not for Reyes lol😍 You could do a playthrough as Scott and romance Reyes then ...

I'd still kind of prefer him to be there during movie night. (Because, AFAIK - but correct me if I'm wrong, you get some Ryder-LI interaction for every full romance but Reyes' during that scene and it just doesn't feel right to single him out like that, even if the reason is that he isn't a crewmember. I can't imagine any of the others objecting to Ryder bringing Reyes along.) But yeah, alternatively I would be perfectly fine with the Tempest tour thing (or some other excuse for Scott to get him on the ship), too .

I'm still bugged a little bit by an asari with a British accent. Why? Did she go to medical school in London? They never explain it. I mean, the accents are just generally weird because what we hear is supposedly the result of some sort of electronic translator (I think? I'm not too familiar with the lore but I'm pretty sure that that's the canon explanation). I mean, obviously all of these different species are not actually speaking English. So why would an electronic translator randomly give aliens dialects linked to specific places/social classes/etc. on Earth? Just best to not think about it too hard. Though, TBH, if I had developed that translator, all the characters using it would have British accents .

I'm not sure about having Reyes there for movie night since that's technically supposed to be for the crew and he's not part of your crew. I absolutely do want more romance content with Reyes. And I also want more quests that link to him, too, beyond Kadara. At the very least, I want more emails from him. The Reyes drought is real. Fair enough but I just feel so sorry for Ryder sitting there on the sofa without their favourite smuggler to cuddle with . Though I guess they could just find a different reason to get him on the Tempest. Like Ryder simply inviting him to give him a tour of the ship.. among other things .

I didn't really get all the Lexi praise. I love the idea of her, but I feel like she has the least amount of content out of anyone. She never seems to have anything to say and even when she does you don't get to reply to her to make it feel like a conversation. I feel like if she had a less high profile BA she would be getting a lot of who? her? treatment. It's true that she doesn't have a lot of content but I think she still feels like a character with depth and a personality (even if you don't see that much of it, it's very obvious that it's there beneath the surface) and the little that is there is well-written. She's definitely one of the better characters in MEA IMO. (And I'd never even heard of her VA beforehand. I don't watch GoT .)

Roles ain't the problem. Technically we didn't need 90% of the squad and crew in ME2 since EDI could've relied most/all the info needed with her instant access to extranet and all databases in the world. But they allocated the lines and resources smartly and everyone got time to shine. In Andromeda, SAM is basically spouting everything even though half his tech info-dump content could've gone to Suvi, Lexi and Gil. Safe to say that with the exception of Tempest banter, the whole " smallest crew member has more content than squadmates in past games" is just another BS promise Bioware didn't deliver on and they knew it. Even squadmates don't feel like they have substantially more content than in ME3. Bit longer loyalty chains but overall, same number of post-critical-mission major conversations as before. Right! I forgot about that line. Yeah, that was bullshit. NONE of the crew have more content than the OT squadmates, let alone the one with the smallest content (Gil?). Anyway, something that I've been wondering and haven't seen the answer for yet: Do Avela and Keri count towards the romance achievement? I assume that they do, but their content is really light (even lighter than the m/m content), so I haven't seen much talk about them. Are there any romances that don't count towards that? I remember them talking about full romances, light romances, and flings. Did we ever decide who falls into which category? If Cora, Jaal, Pee Bee, Liam, & Vetra are the full romances. And Gil, Reyes, Suvi, Avela, & Keri are the light romances. Who are the flings? I haven't seen any other m/m flirts. Are there f/f or m/f flings? The Peebee airlock scene could be a fling if you don't end up romancing her?

Reyes is leading again in that poll by quite a margin `*happy dance* Go, Reyes! I'm pretty sure we'll see more emails from him after the "romance patch", since those should be comparatively easy to implement. Better animations for already existing scenes I can also believe in. Additional scenes? I'd so love them, but that means more work. Let's hope BW is willing to go the extra mile, as with their free ME3 Enhanced Ending DLC. When it comes to more sexy times with Reyes, I'd so love it if you could a) invite him to your quarters on the Tempest, or Reyes takes you to his secret apartment on Kadara (because come on, he must sleep somewhere else, right? There's not even a bed in his work space inside the bar! ) Call me sentimental, but I like the symbolism of inviting the other into a part of their life they usually don't have access to, to show how their relationship is progressing. They can even give me a FTB then, as long as there is more sweet, teasing dialogue between these two! I kind of really like the idea of combining his sex scene with the movie night (as in, make Reyes romancers go to Kadara to start movie night, then have Reyes there for it and add in a sex scene afterwards in Scott's cabin). But I don't think that that's very likely to happen . Though seeing Reyes' place would definitely be interesting (but then they'd have to actually design and build that... and they'd probably just buuild it using assets they already have so I doubt that it would have a very Reyes feeling about it).
