Tomorrow the garbage truck is going to collect all the trash from the bins (I live in a rural area and the truck only comes once in a month) so I gathered all the trash I could find to fill the bin to the absolute max. Problem is this month I got way too much trash for some reason and they are not allowed to collect loose trash bags.- So I took all the extra trash bags and one after another I beat them into the trash bin with my 7 kilo sledge hammer. The trash in the bin is basically compressed to a giant brick and the lid even closes! I love efficiency. I just hope my neighbors did not see me.

What kind of system is it? It sounds like they contain a binder? "drying oils" polymerizes with oxygen (in the air). "urethane" polymerizes (normally) with water (water vapor in air). Gas tight lids and protect from light, and don't drip any water into a urethane can. They were well sealed (at least the lids were tight) no water and no sunlight. I had another two that were just fine however. All treated the same. Weird, I've never had wood stain go bad on me, I have a couple bottles in my closet that are now close to 10 years old and they still work fine. They are Aqua Clou B11 stain (not water-soluble). I use that stuff to stain walnut rifle stocks, it resists water and I highly recommend it. But then again I've never stored that stuff below room temperatures BTW - Are you sure its just stain and not a combination of stain AND varnish? I have pure linseed oil varnish to protect the wood from moisture and cracking and once exposed to air it will thicken and eventually crystallize and turn solid in a year or so - exactly what it is supposed to do once you apply it to wood. If its linseed oil can heat it up (CAREFULLY) and try to make it liquid again - that's also how you get out old hardened varnish from rifle stocks (with a hair dryer or putting them in black plastic bags and expose them to the summer sun, the oil turns liquid again and sweats out of the stock)

My water heater broke a few days ago, that's definitely something I cannot fix myself for once so I have to wait for the specialists to take a look at it. No idea what the problem is. One result of that problem is that I have to shower with 5Β° Celsius cold water, which is not so bad and I am getting used to very quickly but I definitely miss my blisteringly hot showers, I love them.

Just started Aching God by Mike Shell. Literally started, I'm at page 15 or so. The days of adventure are passed for Auric Manteo. Retired to the countryside and isolated with his scars and riches, he no longer delves into forbidden ruins seeking dark wisdom and treasure. But just as old nightmares begin plaguing his sleep, he receives an urgent summons back to that old life.
To save his only daughter, he must return to the place of his greatest trauma: the haunted Barrowlands. Along with a group of inexperienced companions and an old soldier, he must confront the dangers of the ancient and wicked Djao civilization. He has survived fell beasts, insidious traps, and deadly hazards before. But how can he contend with the malice of a bloodthirsty living god?
First volume in the dark fantasy trilogy Iconoclasts

Tidied up my garage when the plate of a heavy desk (60 kg) slid off and hit the shin of my left leg - then I hit almost the same area with a heavy log that tilted onto my shin when I was moving trash. Wasn't too bad when the initial pain wore off and I kept working but now after a quick nap it hurts so bad I'm sweating, both bruises are now the size of a golf ball.

Regarding galling, yes, mating moving surfaces against each other that are stainless-stainless is always a very poor idea. Aluminum frame would have been better. Alternatively one could have a coating, like Titanium Nitride (the gold finish stuff) on one part. TiNi has very low friction. I do know there is something that is even better for stainless, but I don't remember. P.S. There is also a special lubricant, based on molybdenum sulfide, but take note that it's harmful for health. You shouldn't even have skin contact, so maybe useless for firearms. Personally I'm not a fan of aluminum frames, they tend to crack and have a much shorter service life than either polymer or steel/stainless steel. Some pistol have serious issues with the steel slide rails galling the aluminum frame rails because its so much softer, resulting in poor fit between frame and slide. And those frames that have a feed ramp integral of the frame instead of having a ramped barrel really do wear out quite quickly, that's a serious issue. Another problem with aluminum frames is they deform and don't ''spring back'' like steel or even polymer, they simply deform. Every single shot (impact of the slide) will stress the aluminum frame and deform it a microscopic tiny bit until the frame eventually develops a crack after many thousand rounds. Steel frames will last a long time, stainless too if they don't gall too much, aluminum have a much shorter service life and if you abuse them (don't lube them enough) their life becomes really short. Some people like them and the guns will, with proper maintenance, run many thousand rounds but personally I simply see no reason to own any firearm that has vital parts made of aluminum.

Advanced: In general, stainless steel is hell to sharpen. It has a gummy consistence that clogs and destroys sharpening stones. The only defense is water. Soft silicon carbide stones + water are actually fine for sharpening stainless. Whatever you do, don't put oil on anything. The funny thing is that's also an issue with firearms made of stainless steel, they tend to gall, especially when they are very tight and new. Depending on the type of gun there are several surfaces in the action that move quite fast with a lot of friction, if those parts are not properly lubricated they stick. A LOT. That's why I prefer carbon steel whenever there are mechanical parts that move fast and are subject to a lot of friction, involved. I remember a friend shot a new 1911 made of stainless steel and after a magazine the slide got stuck. We had to unlock it with a wooden hammer and when it opened a metal shaving the size and shape of a clipped fingernail came out. But I digress. Beerfish, get a whetstone and one of those angle indicators, that way you cannot mess up too badly. Life is too short to be angry about cutting food with dull cutting implements. And knives are too expensive to be replaced because they are dull!

Today when I was preparing steaks I noticed how dull my knives were, then I remembered my whetstone which I got for the two knives I forged a couple months ago. Did a couple knives with it and got them razor-sharp doing it freestyle without any angle indicators. Now they cut meat like warm butter. I don't want to boast but I seem to have a weird talent for sharpening knives. I also find it extremely satisfying to work on a blade and making it ridiculously sharp.

I've never fallen out of my bed, when I sleep I'm like glued to it.-
Do you think in words or in pictures? (For example if you think about eating cake do you think ''I want to eat cake'' or do you imagine a piece of cake and see yourself eating it before performing the action in reality?)
