It's like Kelly Chambers but worse. You can fix things later with Chambers if you don't mind breaking over a hundred regulations, because you know... you can... as a Spectre.

Yeah I just can't stand to play any more, SAM being one of the reasons. I'll just go play a Ludicrous map in GalCiv for the next however long it takes to get a decent patched game out. I'll probably still be on that same map.

Companions can be just as bad as SAM. Anybody ever fight an architect? AIM FOR THE LEGS!!!AIM FOR THE LEGS!!!AIM FOR THE LEGS!!! SHOOT THE HEAD YOU MORON! SHOOT THE HEAD! FOLLOW HIM BEFORE HE GETS AWAY IDIOT! RUN! times three times four Face it, we are idiots and Bioware just wants to help us. I didn't like that repetitive call-out during the Architect fight, but those are so few and far between that I can give it a pass. It's really not nearly as bad as SAM, because SAM is invasive throughout parts of the game where there shouldn't be a chime-in.

I should add that I was actually laughing my ass off when I wrote that. I had just gotten the mail error right after the AVP error and thought this fucking SAM AI is bloody awful. A basic computer program gets it right more often than SAM does. And my character is stuck with it in his head.

What I don't get is that ME3 presented a fairly good solution for notifications on the ship. When you gained a war asset, the console flickered and you knew straight away to check it. The same could have been done with the email terminal, AVP and strike team terminals (EDIT: apparently, the terminal for strike teams DOES blink). A pulsing light is sure preferable to audio chatter, especially when that audio chatter is a fucking liar. What really highlights it is that on our first ESO mission you tell SAM to say just say we need codes when he is going on about it. Why can't you tell SAM to just stop telling you about mining or the weather or the mail or AVP. There should be a STFU SAM option somewhere. It's so funny because clearly nobody at BW played this game for more than an hour or two as it is meant to be played or that would have triggered someone to say something about how it never really stops. They really need to hire people who play the game from start to finish and tell them all the things they notice about it that are 'off'. Nearly all the stuff people have noted is stuff that could have/should have been recognized as needing a fix.

Some of the recorded lines don't even make sense. Why he has to tell me about temperature changes? We have a pretty clear hazard-meter on our screens, mining is also hinted every time on the screen like a tutorial. People complained about him being too talkative in one of the prerelease videos (Pebee's mission I think), and Bio's response was on the lines of "don't worry, that's just kind of like a tutorial, he's not always like that" . Sure thing, he's even more annoying.
SAM was one of the worst handled thing in the game IMO. Not only for how annoying his "warnings" are, but also by how everything and every quests involves him. They took this AI thing from being helpful to pretty much guiding you through everything as a demigod of sorts. He knows everything, he has the solution to all the problems in the galaxy, Ryder always asks for his help in pretty much every situation.

Prometheus: "The trick, Potter, is not minding it hurts." I like SAM but yes, it would be nice to be able to turn off the repetitive messages at least. I just zone it out.

Nearly all the stuff people have noted is stuff that could have/should have been recognized as needing a fix. Regarding mining, at least that doesn't trigger unless you actually activate the mining interface, and I never activate the mining interface. I get enough rocks in crates and farmed through AVP and strike teams as it is.

They took this AI thing from being helpful to pretty much guiding you through everything as a demigod of sorts. He knows everything, he has the solution to all the problems in the galaxy, Ryder always asks for his help in pretty much every situation. SAM apparently thinks people have no ability to survive without him which is actually quite disconcerting. There are actually a few hints that he could evolve into full on reaper brand logic if you pay attention. I can't remember which ones they were but a few things he said and then how he always tells you what to do as if you can't figure it out on your own, it's rather scary if you think of it. That at some point he will turn that tiny corner and decide that it is best for all races/people if he is in all their heads controlling all of them. He already killed Ryder to save them. Lexi has no idea just how dangerous that logic is. I mean, she does, clearly to a degree, but she didn't see the reapers land and cull millions of people because they were trying to save them. Sure, we were written into a corner and that trick has been used more than a few times in tv and movies (stargate atlantis is my most recent memory of it) but that they even pulled that shit without even realizing they just encroached on reaper logic is pretty horrifying at best. I mean, SAM determined the only way to save Ryder was to fucking kill him. Now where have we heard that before? Good thing he isn't backed by an Army of AI or they might be building mass relays and setting up control systems on the NEXUS. Pappa Ryder just recreated the very thing he tried to escape. Good job dad. Well done.

It's kind of a satisfying feeling when SAM's temperature warning and mining nonsense are interrupted by squad banter.
I'm using random combinations of squadmates just to keep that up.

It's like Kelly Chambers but worse. At least with Kelly you only had to listen to her when you went to the Galaxy map. There is just NO getting away from SAM. I am sure Mr Walters is very happy with forcing this synthases on everyone.

When exiting the bridge, I would approach the elevator on the right side so I wouldn't get that dialogue lol

This reminds me of last night when I was playing around I took fire to the Nomad and it was...well on fire. So I am on Voeld. I get out of the vehicle to inspect the damage and think to myself...'why isn't my life support going up'? I still try to stand by fire on Voeld, from time to time, even though I should know that it doesn't work. I guess this speaks positively of the level of immersion I achieve. Oh, thank fuck, I'm not the only one who does that. I do that way, way too often even though I know better.
