so it's 2 months i'm trying to buy a new card to play the game with ultra settings at fullHD. i'm already arrived at 50% of the game because i couldn't wait I have tried to buy a card 3 time and for 3 times i had problems with vendors.
I want to buy a rx 580 8gb but i my question is. are 4gb of vram enough to play this game without problems? i really hate stuttering, even micro. i was considering only 8gb but since i can't find the card maybe,if you tell me 4gb are wnough,i can consider to buy a 4gb card

I have a GeForce GTX 1050 TI 4GB and I haven't had any issues. Only time I had frame stutter was when the hard drive needed to work during a scene transition but in game it's been fine.

I'm kind of in the same boat I have 2 GTX 770's in my machine which are 4 gb but I'm suffering from stuttering too even flickering as well in cutscenes at times mostly during the Tempest landing cutscenes though when the Tempest is landing on a planet such as Havarl or Voeld. It may be I need to upgrade my graphics cards but I'm not sure. I've been debating whether I should but I don't really want to have to completely overhaul my system because all my other games MEA aside are running fine.

4GB FuryX here. Runs fine at 2.560 x 1.440 (WQHD), but with Freesync.

All Fiji-Cards have 4GB. Fiji has more raw speed then Polaris (RX 470, RX 480, RX 570 and RX 580) on paper, but real life performance from full Polaris is comparable. Or even better, thanks to the 8GB VRam. And I had to reduce texture details one step to reduce slowdowns. So go for the 8GB card.

I've tried disabling SLI but it dosen't seem to make much difference. Although it does run slightly better as it dosen't crash as often with SLI diasbled but it dosen't completely stop it. I'm surprised this game wasn't built with SLI's/crossfires in mind though because every other Bioware game runs just fine with SLI DAI included and that's on the same damn engine.

I have an R7 370 w/ 4gb, but I have to run most of the settings on medium. The 580 has a better GPU, though, so you'll probably be able to get much better performance from the card than I get from mine.

If you hate stuttering then you have to go with 8GB. I still don't think it will remove stuttering entirely - it seems to me that there are a lot of different reasons for stuttering and VRAM is the only one thing that influences it. I have GTX 970 4GB with 8GB of RAM and I stutter horribly, even on the custom settings that allow me to play at 58-60 FPS most of the time. This game just stutters and the only way to remove it is to make a total overkill with RAM and VRAM. I heard one guy on EA Answers HQ removed stuttering after buying 2x GTX 1080Ti. So there you go.
Personally I would STRONGLY suggest you buy 8GB version of that card. If not only for Andromeda, it will help in other games. More and more games use high quality textures that require a lot of VRAM. Buying 4GB version in 2017 is not the most optimal choice. It's still enough, but I would consider buying something with at least 6GB. But that's my opinion.

honestly i don't play many games.i just play mobas for which 2gb are enough
yes i know that 4gb today it snot good but i can't find a 8gb on amazon or other shops. the rx580 seems a ghost. i have already ordered a gigabyte and xfx but both times the vendors said they didn't have it,even if their website said it was available.
gtx costs more and monitor with gsync costs MUCH more..i have just bought a monitor with freesync so i consider only AMD and RX580 is the best (fury too expensive and old)

Stuttering/flickering is due to crossfire = 2 cards. It is still not fixed with patch 1.06 or by drivers AMD.
I disabled crossfire and playing MEA with one card, AMD Radeon 290 @ 2560 x 1600. Don't expect above 60 fps on this resolution but no problems playing the game.
Why not wait for AMD Vega?

I think 8gb is only necessary if you plan to play the game in 4k. In my experience 4GB (nvidia) is enough for 1440p.

4GB should be more than enough for 1080p resolution. RX480 here, no stuttering, but there are few places where FPS drops down but NOT because there's not enough memory. Settings are mix of high/ultra with postprocessing stuff turned off.
If you get a chance get 8GB RX580 (it's cheaper) because: 1) You may decide to go higher resolution at some point 2) Some games, even at 1080p require more than 4GB for ultra HD textures (ME:Catalyst, Shadow Of Mordor are few that come to mind)
...or just wait Vega cards.

(or future-proofing if you have extra cash to spend) I already posted that my old GTX 780M 4GB could play medium settings without stuttering or flicking at all. Well my new runs a GTX 1060 6GB that can run all ultra settings perfectly smooth, and the machine itself only has 16GB of RAM (where I would prefer 32).

I have a RX470 4Gb (which is overclocked and running at a slightly higher speed than the stock RX480) and I very rarely get any stuttering on high settings. FPS averages around 50 and that's with only 8Gb of RAM and an overclocked i5 3570k.
I'm no expert but I doubt that going from 4Gb to 8Gb will do much at all. 4Gb should be enough to play just about anything on 1080p ultra at present, so long as you have a fast enough card. A higher clock speed is going to be far more important. As Light said above, 8Gb would be more about future-proofing.
