I would rather have an insanity mode that was more than just the same enemies as bullet sponges. The harder difficulties should have more of the difficult enemies in each encounter. Having multiple of the cardinal type enemies or twice as many mech would be better. Even the small encounters should include more of the boss type enemies so it makes the open world battles more fun. Some encounters on hardcore or insanity shouldn't have the same groups of chosen or basic raiders everywhere. I want 5 fiends in a room....solo. The krogan would speak of the legend for centuries.

In my opinion, Bioware misjudged their game mechanics decisions for those two missions, at least on insanity. They made those missions way too frustrating for no good reason at all. They should have made it possible to reach level 20 before taking them on, or allowed liberal manual saves during those missions so dying and restarting were not such a burden. I am going on a full week at level 16-17 trying to finish those two missions so I can move on. I imagine later, when I get to level 30 or forty, I might want to bump up the difficulty at times, but so far insanity is way too difficult at the low levels. I seriously doubt any player could start the game at a difficulty above insanity and reach level 20. Without cheating. When you made a thread about this the other day, I assumed you were doing a speed run. I doubt I've ever attacked the Kett Base on Eos at less than Level 12-14. By the time I rescue Moshae Sjefa on Voeld, I'm way beyond Level-20 (likely somewhere around Level-30 to 33.) Saying that, " They should have made it possible to reach level 20" just doesn't make sense. I'm trying to figure out how you haven't reached Level-20 before the Moshae rescue. You can attack either of these missions whenever you choose. It sounds like you skipped a lot of content and went straight to them. On topic: I'd not be opposed to a greater difficulty level. The problem is that they don't seem to have the enemy AI to make it worthwhile. Before 1.96, Insanity wasnt hard; but it was a tedious grind, at times. Enemies survived absurd amounts of damage. Architect battles lasted entirely too long with most builds. The 1.06+ Insanity might be easy, but at least it's not grindy. I think the best fights are had when we get swarmed from multiple angles. It doesn't happen often. Sometimes it happens on Voeld, at random kett stations. The final moments of the Moshae rescue is decent. There are a couple more that I'm forgetting. Even if I lose no health at all during fights like this, at least I'm made to scramble, a bit. That's all I want: to be kept on my toes, rather than walking through the game. I do still play on Insanity without exception, since everything else feels like Casual, after playing for so long. I don't agree that it's so easy that it's pointless, since I'm still having fun. I do agree, though, that Insanity feels a lot like "Veteran" from the ME/ME2 days.

I like cats and Insanity should be more challanging in future DLCs. I feel like in general they handle higher difficulties in DLCs much better than the main game.
At least Andromeda wasn't a joke like ME3. But Andromeda has also the ME2 effect for me. It really feels like Insanity should actually be Normal. Normal is really a joke, as soon as you adjust to the combat system.

If a higher difficulty means enemies are even more bullet-spongey than they are on Insanity, then I say NO. Man I hate bullet-sponges. They're not challenging, they're tedious. Now, if the higher difficulty meant enemies had different abilities, mechanics, smarter AI, or something along those lines, then sure, I'd welcome it with open arms.

More challenge, yes, but something more creative than just higher dps culminating in attrition.

what about: All Remnants would be composed of Destroyers with reinforced armor and shield. They would spawn in random spots . Could have Architects protecting the purification field console. All Ketts would consist of Prefects with shield as well as armor and Fiends who could cloak . All outlaws would have reinforced shields, plus something else creative , maybe cloaking Hydras. All damage resistance would be doubled of course. for Ryder: less ammo boxes, smaller clips, slower shield regeneration. etc. Congrats, you just made the game full of bulletsponges and will see nothing but attrition. And grinding. Lots of boring grinding.

And how would that play out? Even more health and DR for enemies? So I have to pump several sniper shots into enemy heads?

Yes, we need pre-1.06 difficulty...which was already becoming too easy with all those "bullet sponges." Too many people want to earn the high difficulty trophy without actually earning it. I've only been killed twice 30-40 hours into my current playthrough; both instakills by a fiend and Cardinal respectively. And that's with level 1 gear. If EA/Bioware want to keep people playing and eventually entice them into MP, they need to maintain challenging combat...which after 300+ hours in SP and exploring it every which way you can is the only thing that will make me want to continue.

If its just adding something on top of what we have already? Sure why not. It will be kind of pointless if its just more health and damage from enemies but hey, no need to play it if you don't want too.
Edit: I also love cats.
