As I continue playing this game, I'm slowly working my way through every skill offered. The potential combinations are myriad. I certainly have my favorites, or rather "Favorites"; but I'm curious to know how others are playing. This meant I had to have a poll. I've given everyone three picks, which may be too many. Too many picks, and the waters stay muddy. Too few, and maybe it's impossible to decide.
At any rate, I'll start by listing my Favorites, as well as addressing my least favorite type of character.
1) Biotic : I always come back to this, at some point. My Adept (Pull/Singularity/Throw) seems to be my default Ryder. I love biotics, and it's a blast to play.
2) Tech: I really enjoy playing a fully tech Ryder, also. Sentinel (Incinerate/ X /Energy Drain), where X is Assault Turret or Remnant VI, is a favorite. Those bots are incredible, tying up enemies and priming combos. Meanwhile, the Sentinel is an invincible master of detonation damage.
3) Combat+Tech: This is my Architect-killer, and maybe the basis for a "gun master" playthrough, in the future. Explorer (Turbocharge/Tactical Cloak/Invasion) melts Architects on Insanity with the X-5 Ghost. Anything that takes advantage of that damage and/or RoF boost should do likewise. Now that we finally have a good, full-auto assault rifle, I'm considering a playthrough with a version of this as my primary Favorite. I've enjoyed messing around with Explorer (Backlash/Tactical Cloak/Turbocharge), a bit.
Least Favorite: I can't bring myself to build a purely "Combat" character. I love constant combo-detonations. That's a big part of it. Also, most Combat skills look underwhelming. Mostly, though, I am put off by the Energy Cell costs. I'm a Vintage Heat Sink lover in a game with tons of ammo. You can imagine my hesitation to choose skill-powers that use exhaustible resources. What am I missing? Tell me why I'm missing out, if you're a Combat skills-monkey.

I went through my whole first playthrough as Tech/Combat, mostly tech, with the engineer profile. I ended up using incinerate, overload and the Remnant VI. If I had one more skill slot open, I'd have used the assault turret along with that, but I ended up not using both the Remnant Vi and the assault turret at the same time, because I felt like I wasn't playing an active enough role in combat. In my current NG+ playthrough, I'm using mostly biotics, with the adept profile. I've been using pull, throw, and singularity, and I'm having a blast. It's been a lot more fun than tech. I never did pure biotic (adept) in the original trilogy, but this is a lot of fun. I feel like keeping pull and throw, but I might switch up the third skill slot. I'm going to try lance now, and while the biotic aegis skill looks really situational, it does look like a lot of fun. I played soldier, infiltrator, and vanguard in the OT, so in Andromeda, even without class restrictions, I decided to try full tech or full biotic, even though I know my combat skills are better than how they handled in the OT. I've still got combat fitness, pistols, shotguns, and assault rifles maxed. I might try a vanguard-like style again, but I'm kind of having fun as a biotic sniper, even though I have no points in the sniper rifle tree

I tend to always fall back on Infiltrator builds, with a heavy reliance on sniper rifles. Overload + Incinerate makes for some great combos, and tactical cloak is just awesome. I tried going with Biotics in my last save and trying a more Vanguard build, but I just kept falling back into my old pattern of sniping from a distance. I haven't made much use of the favorites at all. I keep telling myself I should set some up and try changing things up in play, but I've never faced anything I couldn't handle with my basic loadout, so I just never bothered.

I can't help it, I always end up with tech/biotic combo. I like shield draining/cc ability from tech, and something to break through armor and charge to keep running around to minimum.

Biotics and combat because apparently I only know how to play as a vanguard, after years of playing Shepard as a vanguard.

I like assault rifles, shotguns and tech explosions, so I'd say combat engineer. Too bad I finished the SP before the last patch, they all sucked, luckily I was at a pretty high level.

Of the powers and stuff I've experienced in the playthrough's so far definitely a mix of Combat and Biotics but probably more of a Adept style biotic than a Vanguard one. As I prefer t okeep my enem, ies at range so I would say kind of how I played my first Sara really as I kind of played her as a Biotic infiltrator in that she' d use the tacftical cloak to get in close and toss them with a shockwave to scatter them or take them out with a sniper rifle. She often used pull and throw as well from time to time to help her squadmates entrap enemies as well.

Combat + biotics + tech. I think I only know how to Vanguard things, but occasionally zapping fools is also fun. With Shepard, I always ran energy drain on my Vanguard, basically making her invincible. No different here.

Biotics and tech is what I chose. However, I am working on a Vanguard for a third PT (which is on hold pending a new patch) which may change my vote.

first run was Tech : flamer, invasion, ED or Overload ( in separate favs ) . now doing Adept: P/T and Sing.
The latter feels easier but the former was fun.
Using pistols only so far.
Next one will start sniping.

Next one will start sniping. Those are two basic, fun, effective builds. My favorite "pistol" is the M-25 Hornet. I love that little beast. Even with the Ghost now in play, I still kept my Hornet. It's a good gun, and quiet. (The Ghost roars like a real assault rifle.)

I usually start a NG with operative for the combat bonus then work up some tech and switch to biotics later. I seem to keep going to some core skills. I didnt think I would like charge but dammit I love charge with annihilation and lance. That is a fun build especially when you have cora set to cryo ammo. The combos are great.
I wish we got more skill points early on. I feel like I'm sort of trying to figure out where is the next best place to put the few that we get. With the trees as they are 3 points per level means it is a slow grind to level any skill or passive. Five levels doesn't even fill one tree early on. Shame for that design.
But definitely tech/biotics with tech for starting and the weapon and fitness passives from combat. Barricade is also useful since sometimes cover is a joke in encounters.
My first character is around level 110 or a bit higher. I have points in things I don't even care about and combat has the least of them. By level eighty I had more than enough for the skills I cared about. Can't really see the point of grinding out more.
I really want to add that I am very happy with the way they did combat in this game. I like that I can try different things and have variety and versatility. Mixing certain skills that would never have been on a class in MET is very satisfying. I think it make combat so much more fun in this game than it did in MET.

Combat, with even more combat. 😎
Why? N7 Piranha & Turbocharge, 'Nades -for-Days, and good ol' "Sit your ass down!" Concussive Shot. Also, using the Revenant with Turbocharge makes me feel like I brought my N7 Destroyer to Andromeda... 😙

IN my one PT I was Pure Biotics. Was my fav in the original OT. It's fine in MEA until you hit level 40 or so then it becomes far less effective. It seems weaker and not as fun as it was in the OT. Companions are pointless and I hate that they kept setting off my combos when I was trying to set them up. If I could leave them and go it solo, I would.
