The biggest issue isn't the mission itself (or any of the long missions for that matter), but the strange decision to not allow manual saving during missions. I seriously don't know who thought this would be a good and positive addition to the Mass Effect series, but it needs to be reverted asap.
Also, if you're having a tough time on a mission, try throwing Tactical Cloak on your ability bar. The ability to turn invisible to revive teammates or reposition when you get flanked is very useful.

I can empathize with an issue on such a long mission, but I have to say it's an enjoyable mission from my perspective. One additional auto-save point would have been nice, but there it is... This was the point I was trying to make. I was tired so if it came across wrong I apologize. 😁

Voeld's base isn't on a timer. I just did it and I've already done the vault on Kadara and Elaaden, found the asari and turian ark, and am about to embark on Hunting the Archon. I saved the base for late, because there are a bunch of little quests on Voeld that glitch out if you take out the base first. so just to be safe with all Kett bases make these the last mission on every planet assuming they aren't timed?

Huh, I thought the base attacks were among the best that MEA offers. I bet a more lenient save system would ease all the pain.

The shield the female Angara mentions isn't around the actual stronghold base. It's around that facility with the ice cave with the buried Angaran city. And you get an optional objective to go 'observe' it before the code changes. You literally just have to drive past close enough. And I don't think there's a timer, but you can do that right after talking to her for RP reasons regardless of level since you don't even have to leave the Nomad. You can then save actually taking out the big Kett base until you're ready. Since you take out the shield permanently from there, it doesn't really matter if you went and checked on it earlier or not. I just do it for RP purposes - grabbing intel to be of hypothetical use to the Resistance or whatever.
But I agree that taking the Kett bases out (both on Eos and Voeld) could've been really fun, combat-wise, but the lack of manual saves makes them unnecessarily frustrating. At least having it auto-save between enemy waves (which the game actually does do, pretty much everywhere else but not, inexplicably, here) would help a lot.

Reminds me of Noveria in ME1. I'm so paranoid of the doors and elevators bugging out I save 1000 times on that mission. Whoever came up with the idea for not letting people save on Insanity in Andromeda needs to be spanked.
I would have liked that option in the Voeld Vault and in the Asteroid Vault. They are particually evil.

The Remove The Heart mission of Voeld is the worst goddamn piece of fucked up shit mission in the game. It's extremely long, and hopeless for a level 10 character on insanity, which I finally gave up on. But I have pushed through, with great difficulty, with a level 13 and ushior/piranha kit. What makes it so hard is every time you die, the damn developers put you all the way back to the beginning out in the snow. So many hours later, I was finally at the last step, go through the door into the hanger. The first time I died. The second time, the door was bugged and wouldn't open, so I had to reload an autosave. When I died the second time, because there are a hell of a lot of Kett in there, I had to go back all the way to the oldest autosave; all the others had a bugged door. Now because I died again, the door won't open at all and there are no more autosaves. I have one manual save that is all the way back to the start of the second half of the mission. So I have to plow through another hour or two of fighting to get back to that fucked up door, with no guarantee it won't fuck up again. And I can't just give up because there is no other way out of the damn room. Unless I just cancel the mission altogether. This is really a lazy and shitty way to make a game tougher. Pardon my french, but I wasted a lot of damn hours on this one damn mission. Maybe don't go into a big priority mission at a low level? Seems like you skipped a TON of content that would see you level up to a decently ready situation. I never left Eos until it had about 80%+ viability. Once you complete the vaults and do the missions for the first 2 sites you should be at least level 16. Why just jump into every big mission and skip things that would help your character grow on the HARDEST difficulty? It's totally not the player's fault.

The autosaves are poor, but this mission is not. The Op's complaint is essentially that it's too frustrating when doing an Insanity speedrun. I'm not trying to be an ass, but I see three simple fixes. Turn it down to Hardcore. Git Gud(er). Level-up a bit more. This is more of a user issue than a game issue.
Edit: Apparently I also failed to read the part about the glitched doors. That does suck; and this isn't the first I've heard of it.

Really? I just finished it and it was hard but far from screwed up. It was fun. Uhmm did you read his post? He kept getting reset from dying, which would be because of insanity. But then the doors glitched out multiple times and he had to keep restarting the mission after finishing it because the bloody doors wouldn't open. I would call that pretty screwed up for him. Just ignore griffith82. Number one fanboy or shill, take your choice, that this forum has. According to griffith82 MEA is PERFECT, has no bugs or glitches, all the characters are great and story is the best ever. Anyone who even hints at any kind of problem with MEA is just a hater, troll, stupid or all of the above.

The problem is restoring from saved games can induce bugs. MANY of the quest bugs seen on 125+ page EA answers/bugs forums resulted after someone either died and had to reload or for what ever reason the person loaded an old game. There is something very messed up in how the save game 'glitches' the entire game data base. They KNOW this and it is why they have the screwed up save system in the first place. They would gladly give you the ability to save any time you wanted if they could figure out their DB problem. Just another example of armature hour at Bioware.

That moment when you go up the elevator to deal with the enthralled colonists, I cross my fingers when that save point triggers.

Oh, I remember reading from someone that after accepting/starting the mission that there is a timer. The Angara hinted as much when she said the passcode to enter was going to change *shrug* I think that is just added for drama. Buxul (sp?) tells you that the codes will reset and they won't be able to get in if they wait because the angara had the data that whole time they were captured and kett didn't realize how much data they had. So it really sounds like you have a timer but once I got it I ran around the whole planet getting the forward stations up and getting the vault on. I don't think it ever times out unless maybe if you leave the planet or something. But that could get someone who a lower level to race there and find it more challenging than if they got some other things done, got some more levels and maybe better weapons.

Or maybe they just focus on the positives and find reasons to like the game rather than keep getting hung up on what they don't like. The game may have some bugs and may not be perfect, but it's a good game in general. Sure, things could be better but it isn't as if it's a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. This forum does have trolls that want to do nothing but complain about every little thing. Choosing to focus on the positive and ignore the negative doesn't actually make you a fanboy. It makes you a positive person who knows how to not get hung up on things you don't like when you can just as well enjoy things you do like. Funny thing about that, those people tend to thrive in real life.

Ya'll keep missing the point. He understands that dying on insanity is a thing. It's the fact that after he dies and loads the latest save, and manages to get further along, the doors glitch out. And then he has to load a save from before the latest. And that he's had to reload from way early in the mission because all the saves in between had glitched doors. This has nothing to do with him, and everything to do with a buggy game.

For some reason the saves/restores are NOT resetting all Database items. This is a major problem in the very base of the game. I suspect it is why they do not allow you to manually save during the main quest lines because they know it will screw up the Database.

Isn't level 10 too low to be already on Voeld? I think i remember being on a higher level there, unless you are pretty much skipping content.

Got a bunch of little tasks along the way and, Woohoo!, finished it at level 15!
Only, maybe, 5 deaths, and luckily I did not hit that door bug otherwise *tears*.
