I hate small talk. Sometimes I just want to do this. Me too, I only like talking shop. I talk very little in general, most of the time I simply don't feel like sharing my thoughts with others. And I rarely if ever participate in light conversation, I'm not good at it and I don't like it. Also something random: the only ''Super hero'' I ever liked was The Crow. Captain Marvel, Superman and all that stuff is garbage.

They ask the same questions every week. How are you? How's your cat, family, life, etc. It's exactly the same as last week. Why bother asking?

Its just a polite gesture to ask such question, people don't really care. You have to answer ''fine'' and the ritual is complete. If you actually take the question seriously and want to answer it with honesty you doing it wrong.

"Oh god, why is he actually telling us how his day has been?! Run, we need to get out of here before it's too late!"

I have a tendency to mix up "pedal" and "peddle" at times. I have to consciously make sure i'm using the right one when I write one.

I think I've changed slightly... I think maybe that's a good thing? :S In my time on bsn, Ive had so many fun conversations with people, and when I first returned I tried searching for a few of the most memorable ones because they can put a smile on my face. But, I also saw many of my own comments and I didnt really like it. Even when i saw posts I made only a few years ago, I wasn't happy with them. Even my "typing style" made me unhappy. In a few of the conversations I saw, I never really... expressed myself. At least, not completely. If I was in a conversation about movies, and someone said something I knew was wrong about a movie I enjoyed and/or had seen, I wouldn't correct them. It was kinda more likely Id just accept what was said and maybe think "eh, they probably know more than me". I think I've become a little better at expressing my own thoughts. My fiancee started encouraging me to speak my mind more often when we first became a couple. I know for sure my mental health is better than ever before really, and I think I trust myself a little more. So yup, I think Ive matured a little. 29 might be a good age to start that

Random: the only two comedies that ever made me genuinely laugh out loud were Mr. Bean (Entire series) and Anchorman 1. I'm not big on comedies but these two are an exception.

Back in 2011, I helped a 737 takeoff by pulling back on the stick. I was also asked to raise the landing gear and set the flaps to 5 for takeoff. Not sure where the first officer was but the captain specifically asked me to come into the cockpit and help him. I had chatted with him earlier and said I had an interest in aviation and flew in flight simulators.

Huh. Wonder if the static F/A-18 on NATO Days this year will allow for cockpit peeks.

I dislike overly friendly people.
I buy hobby stuff from two very identical shops, in one the owners are about my age - a couple who are extremely friendly, whenever they help me to find the right products they are super polite, very professional, extremely friendly, happy and helpful, and they always smile.
In the other shop the owner is about 20 years older than me, he speaks his mind whenever he feels like it and does not give a damn, he is kind of a cheeky bastard, always grumpy and sarcastic, far from polite - but still, he does know his stuff.
I totally and utterly prefer to go shopping to the latter shop, even though both offer the same products and prices.

I dislike overly friendly people. There have been some people I have met over the years that were just nice people and seemed genuine and then I have met a number of phony baloney nice people, such as the last boss that I had. The guy was phonier than a three dollar bill.

I just had a guy flirt with me, or try to. I wasn't sure if he was flirting, or just being overly friendly. I was honest with him, I don't currently have the social skills necessary to form and maintain a romantic relationship, so I wasn't interested in forming one. Once I developed those skills, then I can move onto relationships. Sadly, he hasn't texted me back since.
*sigh*

I don't think anyone is confident with the social skills they possess and to tell you the truth, I think you're probably being too hard on yourself. Social skills are learned and you can't learn them if you keep knocking yourself down. I glad to see that you're utting yourself out there more, but stop trying to expect everything to fall into place one day because that isn't the way it works.

Maybe he feels a little awkward after what happened? I know that if it was me, i'd be noping my way out of everything. Rejection can sting a little bit, maybe give him a little bit of time to sort out himself and you guys can continue to have a friendship in the future.

I find overly friendly people can be creepy, I'd much rather deal with someone who can allow themselves to be grumpy and sarcastic also. They're way more willing to show their true selves...mind you...from a business stand point, it can help your business to be friendly and helpful to customers, just don't overdo it.
