I'm completely indifferent to the sight of blood since the age of 5, when one of my grand-uncles grabbed one of our rabbits by its ears and cut its throat mere inches away from my face.
It was a bloody mess.

I once gave a Viking burial to a hamster. With fire and everything.
Just ended up with a charred, dead hamster that smelt of petrol...

I stayed up too late watching the 1985 miniseries of Anne of Green Gables with the hubby and now my eyes can't stay open at work. I've been staying up late since summer 2015 when I started playing the inquisition, followed by replaying DAO and DA2, followed by ME trilogy and numerous playthroughs. I'm practically sleepwalking. Gotta stop sleeping or playing... Also I've had chickenpox twice.

I am an Empath and it makes my life hell sometimes... but at least I can relate to Cole! Huh, I'm on the other side of the spectrum, didn't even cry on my grandpas funeral. Even had people wonder if I have any trauma as child (answer: no). Even had a member on BSN (old) said that I should check if I was a sociopath.

You are so lucky! I would give anything to not feel so much all the time lol It does have it good sides, such as people feel it easier to talk about shit when they know that I wont get all teary eyed. But on the downside I have a hard time try to understand WHY people do some things. And for not to talk about all the times I get in arguments with people when I happens to said I won't feel anything when "X" or "Y" dies. But I can see how it can be hard being on your side of the spectrum, so I should not complain. (I just have to watch my mouth )

It helps balance things when people are like that. If I know too many people like me it just keeps me trapped in overwhelming emotions. People less or not affected are the best kind of people for me to know!

I'm borderline too in some cases. I can feel, but I also have the ability to 'shut down' the more human and compassionate parts of my brain. Plus, I don't connect with people on an emotional level that easily (intellectually all the time, sure), and I can shut it off when it needs to be shut off. My own grandmother died back in April, and all I thought about was the waste of a life that her lifestyle led to. I felt bad for my mother, but otherwise, I really could not have cared less. I was the one who actually had to sort through and watch over the cadaver handling simply because I was the only one not bothered by it. I'm also a veteran of Afghanistan, which may explain a bit, though honestly, I was the way I am before that. In fact, being in a combat zone a handful of times, nothing beats the sheer thrill of it all. It's... exhilarating. I feel more attuned, more alive, more aware. I feel as if I'm really coming alive. It also enhances my other stress reactions: for example, many people (INFP-types in particular, for all intents here, and no offense by the way to any) have a more normal functional level when under little stress, but break down as stress gets piled on. In contrast, I have what might be considered the near perfect temperament and disposition for military service. When the going gets tough, the tough get going, and instead of breaking down under stress (particularly of combat, which is confusing and FUCKING LOUD), I come under a sort of adrenaline-driven combat high where my capabilities are augmented by the stress reaction. Now, mind you, it sounds like I'm tooting my own horn but I'm not. As I said, I may be more or less immune to PTSD (we do exist, and our existence does nothing to diminish the very real threat that PTSD has on people, particularly my brethren in uniform), but it also makes you dulled to sensations of emotions. That's not to say I don't have them, but going along with that level of connection with other people that I generally lack, I find it hard to be enthused about social situations. They're simply tedious and time consuming. As well, just because one cannot be broken does not mean that they cannot be ground down. I've had several moments in the Army where my morale was at a terrific low, usually over a mistake I or my unit made. And of course, there is the practical effect of such an outlook. I have, possibly rightly, been described as unfeeling and inhuman, as that detachment of mine can lead to a genuine disregard for suffering and human life, which I have the experience in feeling.

Interestingly enough I am more about the mind too and prefer hard logic to following the heart, so being this way makes me conflicted with my own nature. I am not social and very introverted too, but I can easily put myself in someone else's shoes and see their side of the story so I never judge anyone blindly, even if logic says do what's right and not what you think is right.

I'm not social as much as I could be, though more by choice. When I was younger (and I suspect is still the case), I was told that I was either intimidating as a person, or outright obnoxious occasionally. One of my faults is that I size people up, and I do feel the need to assert myself socially. I see a lot of things as a competition, though I suppose self-awareness is the key to remedying that particular trait.

Sound like we are pretty alike. Mind, I never served in any military (I tried, but apparently i am both deaf and blind ) so I don't know how I would react, but I did rock climbing and there was a nice adrenalin kick sometimes. I do recognize the way some people describe you as unfeeling and inhuman, but I think I am MORE human because I don't filter everything with my feelings. (off topic, that member I was talking with on BSN that asked if I was sociopath, did it because we were on a thread about Shepherds dreams and that s/he maybe had PTSD, and I said that not everybody react to death and war the same. Just wanted to mention that in case you have any thoughts on that.)

You just described me lol and when I was a little girl I was told my large eyes made people uncomfortable. Said I stared into their souls and unmasked them and said I wasn't normal. I was confused by that and kept to myself, mostly drawing in my free time. I was an artist. Being a straight A student and teacher's pet also led them to think I was a rich snob or something.

I stayed up too late watching the 1985 miniseries of Anne of Green Gables with the hubby and now my eyes can't stay open at work. Funny story: Last year my family went to the beach for vacation and my mom brought her copy of Anne of Green Gables so that we could all play a drinking game while watching. I can't remember the rules but I've never seen my mom so silly drunk before. It was even funnier when she started yelling for more "fucking drinks!" and was talking to Anne on the tv. We're going back to the beach this year and this time we're watching the sequel. Going be hella fun. I used to watch this show when I was a kid. It's still good.
