Trying to settle on a melee weapon for my vanguard. The Asari sword does a lot more damage and the teleport can be useful, but it feels awfully clumsy at times. The biotic amp feels more natural and fluid with its attack animation, but lacks range and damage. No real experience with the other melee weapons.

I love the Krogan Warhammer and use pretty much nothing else. Extremely powerful and creates a nice blast when you slam your opponent with it.
The classic Omni-blade is probably my favorite looking melee weapon and my favorite animation - though that's probably just because of my memories using it to gut Kai Leng like a fish. It's just not very powerful compared to other options.

Remnant cryo-gauntlet. You'll LOVE it. Agreed. lynx7386 , I prefer the Biotic Amp, as well. I switched to the cryo-gauntlet, though, because it's similar, plus it's an Ultra Rare weapon. This means you'll get 4/5 augmentation slots, rather than 2/3. Those slots are huge, since melee weapons are "always equipped". Those are two extra buffs built into your melee weapon. The cryo-gauntlet is also just fun. It does okay damage, but it snap freezes unprotected targets in one hit. It does fairly well against protected targets, also. You can either finish the frozen target, or use them to setup a small combo detonation.

Third for cryo gauntlet. I'd say krogan hammer, but it's nothing special without a barbed wire augment.

The Kett Carfalon is useful on Vanguard because it siphons health with its attacks. So with each melee attack on Vanguard you'll be regaining health and shields. But the attack is a bit clumsy like the Asari Sword.
For regular melee I prefer the omni-blade...it's quick and straight-forward with no weird movements/animations.

I'm not really a melee player but when you need it the Asari sword is better because of the teleport.

Vanguad you said? 1)AF ---> ( prime ) 2)Lance(shield drain) ---> ( make a big boom multiple times for glorious explosions ) 3)charge for shield recharge 4)Repeat You won't have enough time to melee with this build BUT if you do want to melee anyway 1)Hammer if you're badass 2)A. sword if you're samurai 3)Cryo if you're a troll

asari sword. I used it for my insanity melee speedrun. Since you're playing as a vanguard, I would add biotic power damage augmentations to the sword.

The krogan hammer would probably look ridiculous on Sara, lol.
My current ability setup is charge, nova, and tactical cloak.

After I used the Asari Sword, nothing else measured up honestly. I tried other melee weapons, but always went back to the Asari Sword.

For me, it'd be the Asari sword, though I'd go with a crafted sword modded to my taste. Big fan of the teleport.

The sword is fun at first, but the animation is sooooooo long. Kinda got annoying after a while.
If you have charge on a relatively low cooldown then I think you'd be nuts not to use a melee weapon that primes. Cryo gauntlet, Kett vakarsh or electric firaan. 'Splosions everywhere.
Try them all and then research + develop the one you like best.

It makes no sense for Ryder to wield the knife that way. The cryo-gauntlet is great. It has better reach and better damage. It also puts common enemies on the ground for a looong time, if you let them survive the initial attack sequence for some reason.

Is this the one that stuns? If so I have wanted to try it but my research is so low that I didn't want to waste the research points to raise it only to find out it isn't that great. Also I have wondered if it is a % chance to proc or auto on hit?

I stuck with the gauntlet because I didn't have enough Heleus research points to try the vakarsh. I'm planning on using that in my next playthrough (unless it's terrible, in which case I'll go back to the gauntlet).

asari sword is so bad because of the teleport for me,specially on vanguard that uses charge. With charge i'm already on the enemy carfalon kett would be the best for me,with its lifesteal but i don't like the slow animation angaran's weapons are very fast but have low damage,so i choose biotic amp. fast enough and average damage
i liked also cryo gauntlet but i couldn't make it work for freezing combos

I typically roll with either a crafted Kett Carfalon or a Cryo Gauntlet. Both are useful for different reasons. The Carfalon due to the life/shield cyphoning ability as a vanguard charging into the middle of a pack. The Cryo Gauntlet for armored enemies because it snap freezes the target on impact which allows me to charge or use lance to create a cryo combo.

It's possible I could've overlooked a short stun, I guess.)

I would have thought that the biotic amp should be stronger than it is. Lore wise a biotic hit would cave your chest in.

I would have thought that the biotic amp should be stronger than it is. Lore wise a biotic hit would cave your chest in. It's not bad, as is. It hits quickly, so they couldn't make each hit too powerful. It's amusing to punch walls or objects with it, as it leaves behind serious damage. That doesn't help it mechanically it as a weapon, but it ties in with what you're saying about lore.

I nkind of like all the melee weapons. Last character was into the cryo gauntlet. Right now I favour the carfalon. I have used the omni blade the least though.
