Canadian Delicacy - The Kaidan Alenko Thread

While I never did his full romance, I did lock in ME3 once and I thought it was really sweet how he kisses Shepard's hand when his feelings are reciprocated. I don't think I saw the other romances have little details like this.

Not sure I have a favourite since every Kaidan moment is my favourite....

In Mass Effect 1, the time when he pulled up Shepard to his chest. I still remember the first time I saw it and it felt like "*boom*... wuh... dude, that's so smooth....". I look through Ashley/Liara and felt like the animation is meant for him especially since the angle made Shepard look shorter. Also every time I play it, I appreciate the meaning of "You always this cautious with a sure thing?" and their glorious sexy subtexts.

In Mass Effect 2, the beginning of the game when he ran through burning Normandy and seeking Shepard. I like the difference between unromanced; he fell on his knee and romanced; he fell against Shepard who held him close and steady. The sideway look Shepard gave him and Kaidan staring at Shepard before leaving her behind. There's a lot of story I could dissect from that a couple of seconds scene. Probably the biggest life changing moment between both of them in their relationship especially when Kaidan realized that what they had was real and he suffered since.

In Mass Effect 3, hmmm..... I guess it was this scene.

I like how the scene give more meaning to Kaidan than it did for Ashley. He was grieving for the people he left behind; his home, his friends and his family. And he looked up to Shepard who gave him a hesitant look. There's a lot of meaning in those shared silence. Which is why I like to pair him up with Mindoir Shepard, he was living through her hell as well and now he understand her pain better. And the way I see it, Shepard became his symbol of hope as well. That she could pull through and so could he.

Favorite Kaidan moment... I think that was one of the first questions we talked about? Or was that just his romance scenes? (As if that matters. )

My answer for romance was the night before Cronos. With an imported romance their conversation is just... so...   I'm partial to his London good bye too. Romance or not it just feels like such a close, honest and open moment with him. He's Shep's family. The Apollo's scene feels similarly but doesn't have the immediate weight of REAPER DOOM hanging over head.  Plus he's a little awkward then and he so knows it, which is just priceless. But hey, any scene with Kaidan is a good scene.

I remember. And posted! But yeah, everybody came here. I was hoping the migration would be there because Fex worked so damn hard to transfer as much as she could (and there was much drama about a new site, as you might remember). Still feel guilty about it, but... I'm barely sociable enough to be on one forum.

Speaking of the old--er, original?--Kaidan thread, I remember clicking to a random page once that had a Jack-looking Kaidan fan art. Still regret not getting the source for that.

I think I know the fic you're talking about, if it's a more recent one, but I'm pretty sure the fan art I saw was posted years before that fic existed -- although I wouldn't be surprised if there's more than one of those story ideas out there. Or fan art, for that matter.

My favorite moments with Kaidan are the locker scene in ME1, the one before entering no man´s land in London and the last goodbye before running for the beam.

He should since he sort of is Kaidan.  Face model and all.  I've even seen pics of him dressed up in Kaidan's ME3 default armor.

Well,Kaidan is hot in any version of the world it would seem. :amirite:

My favorite scene with Kaidan is when you bring him to the Cerberus base. Shepard himself starts to question if he is the real Shepard or not, and Kaidan says "You're real enough for me." I melt every time I hear that. Raphael Sbarge's delivery is so sincere. I know every love interest says something similar, but it means so much more coming from Kaidan. At the beginning of ME3, he still wasn't sure he could believe Shepard was really back or if Cerberus was up to something. But by this stage of the game, he is completely sure, and he's the one reassuring Shepard that he's the real deal. It's a beautiful moment.

Obviously, that line means a lot coming from Ashley, too. I'm just biased towards Kaidan's version.

Conceivable, this photo is already somewhere in this thread, but I'm feeling lazy. It's definitely a photoshop but it puts the face models for Kaidan and Sheploo together.
