Canadian Delicacy - The Kaidan Alenko Thread

I didn't get a letter because I romance him in 3, and the way Kaidan confessed his feelings, the part about being too patient, made it seem like he hasn't really dated anyone at all in a long time. So my headcanon is that he didn't date a doctor at all.

I always thought the same thing. No particular reason, except that they knew each other in ME1 and, yes, she cared for him in ME3, but this was always my suspicion. The real question is: how awkward is it when Dr. Michel is the ship's doctor and a romanced Kaidan returns to the Normandy?

Since I've been in DAI mode lately (almost done...), I feel a need to post some Kaidan:

If it was really nothing serious (only a few drinks) then I do not see a problem because I see Dr. Michel as caring but also as understanding. She surely saw how deep Kaidan was hurt and sorrowfull afterhe  lost Shep so for me she will understand.

Faithful/Cheating Trilogy FemShep, New Romance FemShep and (unmodded) BroShep have different romance experiences. I don't know various modded conditions but I'm sure there's a lot of lines in ME3 that Mark Meer didn't voice. Which is perfectly fine to see varying sides of Kaidan as a character. Also, which is why I usually specify the condition of my romance when I talk about it.

My headcanon reflected Kaidan who romanced my FemShep who was faithful to him. This stick out to me;
Kaidan : "I'd like to, Shepard. As friends... as more than friends. I mean, I don't know... I just like having you in my life. Maybe you should just know that I'm not seeing anyone and... and that I still care. Hey, look... there's a war on -- and maybe you and me'll never happen -- but I needed you to know that."

My FemShep was dead for two years, Kaidan are free to have a drink with anyone. He was trying to move on and admittedly, he still can't. He's a cautious man dealing with the love of his life who is this impossible person. He suffered so much and sacrificed so much. Its an entirely complicated situation that couldn't be resolved with grand romantic gestures and empty talk. The fact that Kaidan gave my Shepard all the space she need is a sign of trust and love.

Also, Dr Michel is Kaidan's doctor and I like the exchange where she ask Shepard if its about Alenko. She's being professional and disinterest, she did reassure Shepard every time you visit him, so I don't feel like my Shepard would be romantically-threatened by her. (The only one who showed some interest is Allers and I don't let her on the ship)

Ah, I see. I guess I found out about gender swap and Gibbed save game editor to retroactively make the romance have existed almost from the start. Hence, I always got the letter. Not a fan of the slow burn idea since it completely leaves ME1 devoid of an m/m romance.

This was likely done to cater to the gay fan base who were pissed about the lack of m/m romances. And, based on what I've heard, there was a very vocal fan base who called for this. Thus, Kaidan is an m/m option under any conditions. Just conjecture, obviously, but it seems reasonable.

I already posted something in this direction but I woulk like to ask you what is your headcanon ending for your Kaidan romance (after ME3)?

I love it . So nice and cute !!

Among the major reasons I like Sheploo and "John".  I can read most fanfic and look at fan art that works with my character.

I can definitely see Kaidan as a great father.

It is a huge plus for people who enjoy default male Shepard. He's just so damn handsome!
