With all the news about Mass Effect being put on ice, I'm happy for anything DLC related. Same here. The news of the series being put on hiatus and Bioware Montreal being downsized/re-allocated to other projects has me worried that the base game of Andromeda is all we'll get, apart from patches.

Until BioWare/EA actually say "no, there won't be any dlc for Mass Effect: Andromeda" then there is nothing to worry about. It would be unheard of and unprecedented for a major EA game (and particularly BioWare) not to have dlc. Considering how long it takes triple A devs to make games these days, I assumed that (before the whole on ice rumor) that we won't see ME5 for a very long time, like well past 2020 regardless of the rumor. Also, BioWare as new ip Dylan and DA4 in the works, so they got a pretty full plate at the moment and we got plenty to look forward in the short term.

The teams working on any DLC are gonna be smaller (by a large amount) than the team working on the main game. Say there were three hundred people working on the main game, there might be thirty people working on DLC.
It's not surprising, nor is it not being put on ice. It's EA saying, "Hey, is there money to be made there? Cha-ching, cha-ching, sure. The cost (of developers working for under three months) benefit analysis works for us. Possibly you'll write some dialogue that isn't horrendous and makes people wanna tear their eyes out with a rusty spoon."

I can't find the article/post (probably because it dates back to Dragon Age 2), but BioWare moving people around after development ends is not a new thing. It just wasn't as visible since prior to BioWare Montreal they just moved people across the hall in BioWare Edmonton to go between Mass Effect and Dragon Age. One thing I have been thinking with the personnel movement including getting people to help out on Andromeda near release, is that EA is pushing Frostbite so all team members can help out any studio if they need more people without looking to hire more people for a month or two to help out on the bottom line. Pure speculation, but I can see it.

I'll definitely say this.
If they include my line of, "Why aren't people out studying the scourge after thirteen months? I mean, hell... If I were stuck on this station for more than a week, I'd be out there studying it." I'm going to be pissed.
'Cause I said it first.
You don't get to rip me off, BioWare.
Not anymore.

No, I'm actually interested. In 50 hours of gameplay, they never even mentioned going out and exploring WTF they just hit and WTF it's doing in space. I dunno, because I quit the game after that. I know that Weekes is intrigued with metaphysical stuff, and I fear that his interest in the metaphysical has infected the other writers. Thus, my post. So what was their conclusion? Because the first 50 hours didn't tell me.

Don't bother with internet doomsayers. Bioware reducing the teams that work on the game, doing either bugfixing or DLC, is nothing new. The same thing happened after both ME3 and DAI release, they had a much smaller team making extra content.

Because the first 50 hours didn't tell me. Dialogue with both Tann and Suvi suggests that people have gone out to study the scourge to determine that it was artificial. But without the actual creators of the weapon present, how would they be able to come to any conclusion as to its origins at that point? That's like determining that the reapers created the mass relays without Sovereign outright telling you that they made them. Mind you, dialogue with either character doesn't have to take place 50 hours into the game. They don't go on in length about the scourge, but you don't need tons of exposition to figure out that they didn't just stare out the window at it. The only theory tossed into the game is by Suvi when she suggests that the weapon was possibly created because someone disapproved of the Jaardan's work in the cluster.

Okay, physicists wanna know why everything happens.
To be explained away by "God made it." makes you useless in a lab. Being explained away by, "Someone else made it, why bother" makes you even much MUCH MUCH more useless.
Holy hell.
