Does PeeBee do anything in combat?

Pull and Invasion. I see the Invasion quite a bit during fights.

Besides shooting into the crate that I sent her to use as cover?

I've lucked out with that. Liam is pretty fierce, so is Vetra. Jaal never let's an enemy touch me. Always cloaks and stabs them and snipes a lot of them! Drack is GOD! PeeBee lifts a lot of enemies, but her aim is pretty bad with a gun. Cora like Jaal always rushes the enemy before it reaches me. She loves to Charge!

I actually get a lot of punch out of Drak, and Cora teamed with Drak? Heaven for a Vanguard, everybody keeps up with me!
PeeBee is the only squad member that does nothing at all other than her invasion (what I meant when I said "annihilation")
Jaal and Vetra both put out a bunch of damage, and Jaal seems like he is glued to my back. With Jaal, no worries about sneak attacks,
Liam... sorry excuse for a fighter IMO, PeeBee is worse, but as least she has some funny comments.

I don't use Peebee that much, since she seems underpowered, but I'm going to try her in some of the last priority missions just for fun. I'm using a lot of biotics in my current playthrough, so I can detonate some of her pulls. I might need to respec her to make sure Lifting Shockwave is selected, so I can have another primer.

Drack overall is the best companion in combat (and one of my favorites in general). I've never seen him go down in a fight and many times, he gets more kills that me, or outright killsteals! Plus it's so much fun seeing a badass Krogan charge into battle head-first.

Vetra's disruptor rounds are amazing, but Vetra can be a glass cannon if I don't watch her and make sure she's in cover during a heavy firefight.

Liam's never died on me either, but I just don't bring him along that much ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cora's doing better after I respec'ed her, as well.

Jaal seems okay at combat. I mostly brought him along in my first playthrough for all the dialogue. Oh yeah and his Avenger Strike hits really hard, so that's a plus.

There are two kinds of companions. Drack, and companions you bring along for Drack to talk to in the car.

If all she does it spam invasion then that alone makes her more useful than Liam or Vetra.

Invasion is excellent. It's not quite as good as shield boost, but then what is?
