Compare to ME3MP.. MEAMP definitely feels easier on Gold difficulty. One reason would be 7 waves, and another reason would be jet-pack.
I`d say ME3MP was really 3 (good)players game while MEAMP is 2 (good)players game. The extra players in 4 players team only make the game easier but ultimately doesn`t affect outcome much.
The real question that needs to be asked is that.. if the game has become too easy to obstruct the fun it should be generating.
As a casual player I feel like it`s just right. Not too easy, not too hard... but just right..
For those whom often play with 2 or 3 friends, the game would be too easy. ..but the same thing applies to ME3MP. ME3MP was laughable easy game with 4 competent players.
When it come to difficulty.. I think we must make PuG play into main consideration. PuG people still struggle most of the time.. with the kits seemingly unstoppable such as Havoc, Salarian Infiltrator and Krogan Vanguard....

I think it's comparable to ME3's Gold, since 1.08. Which is not too easy IMHO. Just fine. Though I don't see myself soloing MEAMP Gold anytime soon...

Is it easier than ME3? Oh, fuck yes. Is it so easy as to not be fun? Certainly not to me. MEAMP clearly is made to be easier and more casual compare to ME3MP. ME3MP play was fun but each game felt like a commitment. MEAMP game feels more like quick arcade round where I can casually join in and out. I think for this aspect, MEAMP is a success. Not a successor... but a success.. lol

Yes, because I tend to play with 3 people who are somewhat OP, so all I have to do is wonder around and try not to become fiendsnack.
PuGs though, vary. Sometimes great and carry me nicely, sometimes ... ugh. Not enough cobras in the entire galaxy for that shit.

A lot of what passes for difficulty really just creates player frustration imho.
I refer primarily to the constant stream of staggers. Invisible enemies that can suddenly start firing at you from anywhere, often in multiples. The krogan twins with their flak cannon spam who can keep you stunlocked, and multiple enemies that will damage and stagger you through cover. Longer power cooldowns combine with frequent staggers so that you can have an enemy nicely primed, but be unable to fire the detonator because some goddamned invisible dog interrupted you and the prime time expired. The instantaneous firing and pinpoint accuracy that all enemies seem to have. The designers were so intent on making sure the player is constantly on their heels, that enemies firing at your back as you're trying to sprint away even slow you down.
I went through a period of playing this game quite a lot, but the frustration is building to the point where I don't know how much longer I'll be doing so.

It is fair challenge for random pugging with random classes and crappy weapons you only use to complete challenges. For a coordinated group using best kits and weapons it is absolutely trivial. The game could use platinum mode to give a decent challange for the latter. I would propose twice as hard and about +25% credits.

I am saying they did good job.. it`s the other threads saying the game is too easy contradicting my opinion. They will try to make the game harder... but I think Raiders and assemblers had enough damage & RoF buff... lol .....The most notable buff was Outlaw Agent... this guy shoots his handgun like shooting Ushior right into our face now... lol

It does seem a lot easier than ME3 now, but then again I'm not entirely sure that MEA is indeed a lot easier. It might just be that 1000 hours of ME3-MP have made me a half decent 3rd-person shooter player after all and my learning curve is slightly steeper with MEA than it was with ME3.

I'd rather they increased difficulty by actually making enemies harder to kill instead of essentially making the player sit in timeout during a stagger or dog-grab. (A frequently deadly timeout, as it happens, since you're often staggered / slowed while trying to escape.) For want of a better word, I'm going to say that I find it dis-empowering. Maybe it's just because I suck, but I find that I spend far too much time unable to act (or interrupted from what I wanted to do) because I'm staggered or grabbed. Asking the player to do something difficult is a welcome challenge; preventing them from doing anything at all is not, thus my current frustration.

Believe me... for the very same reason I hate Wraith & Breacher way more than Adhi. Adhi grabs you if you are unaware of it.. but it doesn`t stagger you a lot. Wraith staggering & Breacher movement obstruction is way crazy... If BW could fix them a bit.. I will be happy about them. They are purposefully made to bother our free movements... which is not very satisfying way to make the game harder.
