9:46 Dragon ~ The Nature of Conflict (OOC)

A timeline is marvelous and very helpful, thanks NeverlandHunter! We may want Lavinia and Cyrus to meet a bit earlier than early April, that way they can arrive in Gwaren around the same time as the other characters.

Also I double checked WOT volume 1 and the Chantry calendar is a 12 month, 30 day calendar divided into four seasons. I think it stands to reason it is a pretty solid analogue to our own calendar (not to mention that the 8th month in the Thedosian calendar is also called August). That said, each month has two names: a high name and a low name. Per WOT vol 1 page 21: "Each thirty-day month has a low name, largely used among the common classes, as well as an official high name. Only courts and scholars use the month's alternative names, based on the original Tevinter." I'd wager most of our characters will probably use the "low names"; even Lavinia will, when speaking in common parlance. I'll be happy to provide them if people want to know them, but for now, here are the Thedosian "low" months, with each number corresponding to our own numbered month:

1 Wintermarch

2 Guardian

3 Drakonis

4 Cloudreach

5 Bloomingtide

6 Justinian

7 Solace

8 August

9 Kingsway

10 Harvestmere

11 Firstfall

12 Haring

So April would correspond to Cloudreach in the Thedosian calendar.

Timeline so far:

Late Cloudreach (I would say the 31st): Lavinia and Cyrus meet

Mid Bloomingtide: Rhian sets off on a ship from Denerim to Gwaren

Later Bloomingtide (Guessing here I would say the 2nd): Ozek chills out in the Brecilian Passage a distance from Gwaren

Even later Bloomingtide (Gonna say the 4th): Rhian arrives in Gwaren and learns about the Teyrn's task

A day later Bloomingtide (5th): Rhian gets outfitted at the markets and then meets Teyrn Jon at his Keep

Perhaps that night Bloomingtide (Same night): Ellas entertains at a tavern and then goes and meets with the waifs under his care.

Early morning Bloomingtide: Cyrus and Lavinia arrive at Gwaren.

The next day Bloomingtide (6th): Ellas, under a pseudonym, meets Teyrn Jon. (Will Rhian meet him too. NeverlandHunter ? How about you heathenoxman will you be with the others?)

Same day Bloomingtide: Rhian sends a letter off and reflects

So when do you think we should leave?

Well, the letter that Lavinia gets from Celene indicates that she has to leave that very day (I'm imagining Celene's letters went something like: I need you to do this thing, here's why. Hey, why aren't you answering me? Hello? Okay well this dude named Cyrus is going to come get you at this date and time, I've already made the arrangements, and you're gonna do this thing whether you like it or not). So her staff is busting their butts getting her ready for a lengthy journey while she's meeting Cyrus.

It'd be nice if they could tour the grounds and get to know each other, and leave the next day, but I don't want to hold up other characters and keep the plot from moving forward.

I'm not foreseeing Lavinia and Cyrus occupying the same carriage; she's going to take her own, since it is more convenient and she doesn't trust Cyrus enough yet to share one. They could interact and get to know each other in the drawing room, and continue to do so in Gwaren. Or, maybe we can have an additional scene on the road, maybe in an Inn or something? What do you think?

Okay; how are you seeing them interacting on the road?

And do the other characters have enough to do while we're traveling?

Okay. I'm picturing talking in an inn as talking 'on the road'. Is that what you're picturing?

I have posted in the main thread. And originally I was going to skip ahead of some events and just write about previous happenings from a future point, but since Gervaise needs to do a prison break, Nimlowyn and Smilesja some traveling, and I don't know what Heathenoxman will want to do-- I thought I'd stretch my writing out.

I'll have a look at the timeline later today.
