Character Name: KailynRace: Human
Gender: Female
Class: Dual Wielding Rogue
Using the cover she was under to quickly coat her blades with a freeze poison, Kailyn did another sweep of the field. Kailyn felt her heart sink as she saw Durk was about to be killed and she had no way to get to him in time. The thought of her only friend dying wasn’t something she was ready to deal with. All for what, a stupid compass? Just then she saw Declan come into view, he was able to take out the over confident idiot, Gerald before he even knew what was coming. With Durk safe, for the moment anyway, Kailyn focused on getting to Rolf. He was outnumbered.
She used another smoke bomb to cause confusion and quickly crept up behind the merc in her path and sliced his throat. She wanted to use a freeze bomb but wasn’t sure she could avoid Rolf getting caught in the area of effect. They needed a way to wheedle the enemies’ numbers down.
She was wondering if Declan’s men were dead. Knowing him, they would be skilled, so they may still have a chance to turn things around. Should she try to use the old signal she and Declan had come up with in a different life? A time when she trusted him completely. Her signal would get the attention of some of the men on Rolf, she only hoped they moved in range for her to use a bomb.
Deciding it was worth the risk she let out three short chirps. As she predicted, several mercs turned their attention to her. As they started to come at her, she back flipped and threw her bomb. As the freeze took affect she took a running leap onto a merc, piercing his eye with her blade. As his body started to fall she used the momentum to kick a second one in the head. She quickly sunk her blades into his heart.
The third man had shaken the effects already. He began to come at her, so she tried to evade away from his reach. Too late, she felt he dagger skim her leg. It threw her off balance. She tumbled to the ground. Just as she was trying to roll away, the man fell to the ground next to her. He had an arrow through his eye. Silently thanking her mysterious helper, Kailyn took a moment to check everyone’s position. She had heard two sharps signals and looked to see where it was coming from.
Noticing Maggie stepping into view and taking a flask from Declan, She crushed it to her chest and quickly disappeared only to reappear followed by a lot of bodies dropping quickly. Shaking her head Kailyn had to smile, that bastard always had a trick up his sleeve. It seems she wasn’t so far off in her thinking it was unlike him to put an innocent in danger. He had been so against it in the past. Maybe some things haven’t changed. Watching him fight like the old days was causing her to feel pressure in her chest. Shit, focus, get up and help Rolf. Once Durk had stepped in to help them, they started making quick work of the remaining mercs. It looked like Maggie had gone to check on Willis.
Any of Gerald's men still alive ran away, possibly deciding their life was worth more than the job. Trying to catch her breath she slowly made her way to Durk, who was now searching Gerald’s body. Kailyn would never admit it, but she quickly searched her surroundings to ensure Declan was still in one piece.
Durk found something curious and called to Declan. He made his way over to Declan and spoke. "Does this look like that Tevinter compass? Could it be the final piece?"
