It's short, inconsequential dialogue from a minor NPC that you can easily miss. Not sure how improving that improves the game's narrative. In the grand scheme of things, maybe it doesn't. I can easily think of several things more worthy of attention in the game. But it's still something people noticed how awkward it was. Well, sometimes when you ask a question you get an unexpected answer. Next time don't be so nosey. Considering you can ask a hundred other people the EXACT SAME QUESTION and get a hundred different answers, I think it's silly to change this one just because some people didn't like the answer they got.

I have no idea how you missed my point but you managed so congrats. Well, my point was people found the conversation to be sudden and extremely awkward given we just met her. Thus the point of changing the conversation. But if you want to keep b*tching about "sensitive gamers" don't let me stop you. I haven't met Hainly in my re-run to see how the dialogue has changed. When I first spoke to her I did find the conversation a bit odd. As though it was deliberately inserted to make a point about the issue. I couldn't help thinking that after 150 years it really shouldn't have been issue enough to even need to be talked about as you'd think nobody would have batted an eyelid by then.

I think the complaint was from the LBGTQ community, that her just blurting it out right away was offensive, so they buried it under a few series of dialog. It's a video game character. I swear people are too sensitive about stuff that really don't matter. People are too senstive about everything these days Mate. As to the topic: I honestly thought nothing of it the first time I heard her dialogue. Same as with Crem in DA:I. It wasn't until I was browsing online that I noticed people kicking up a fuss, that I realised what she'd said.

It's too bad they couldn't have had this guy do the trans part as no one would have complained.

TBH when I first met Hainly I thought she was a little bit open about her past, but Ryder did ask her what brought her to Andromeda. I much prefer the pacing post patch, now Ryder has to get to know her before she opens up a bit, though it's a little odd that Ryder asks all the other colonists and not Hainly until after much questing. I think there was an opportunity for Hainly to be asked and to give a watered down answer then tell Ryder more later on. But that's just hindsight. I'm glad they changed it and I think they did it with sensitivity. I'm pretty open IRL about having a female fiance, but I'm to old to pussyfoot around it. Negative reactions are very rare and they don't upset me the way they did when I was a teen, but it can be a difficult topic for a lot of people and it's hard to get it right. Maybe there isn't a right way. I like Hainly, and I'm glad she's in the game. I hope she is in future games.
