You can't just look at initial sales though, because a lot of those were preorders from people hyped about the series coming back. If the sales fell off drastically after that then that would give EA pause in pushing out more content. I'm sure they're tracking things like, what percentage of players finished the game, how many played it multiple times, when was the last time it was played. If those numbers don't look good, they would also have to think about future content as well. Andromeda was never going to be a financial failure just due to players buying the game on the Mass Effect name, the success of the OT. However, from here on out, Andromeda is living on its own name, and not the OT anymore. So whatever they release now they will be taking a risk. I'm kind of shocked by the news of no DLC, I thought they would probably have already been working on something even before the game came out. The Division was in the same boat, one of Ubisoft's best selling titles but the playerbase fell like a rock after a month or so because they didn't have any incentive to play the game anymore, so a DLC is not profitable anymore right? Nope, they still put out DLC's like Underground and Survival that reignited the interest in the game and brought players back. That could also apply to ME:A They added microtransactions as well IIRC. Multi-players games can make you money after the initial release, so companies are willing to do more to keep those going. Not something you're going to get with single player content. Also, like I said before. Andromeda was a reboot/Version 2.0 or whatever you want to call it, and they may have had some goals for the series. or else they would say we tried, it didn't catch on the way we wanted, we're just going to leave it alone. And it's not just about pushing out some DLC to make some money. It's about whether those developers could better be used somewhere else on something that will be more profitable. They need Anthem to have a very successful debut, it can't stagger out the gate like Andromeda, so I figure whatever they can spare is going there. That project can't fail if you're Bioware or EA.

There was DLC in production, but the hit to the brand that it would cause once released - based on both quality being akin to the base game, and on the memes that would surely follow, wasn't worth the money that would be accrued through sales. Bioware's reputation needs to be rebuilt, revisiting the past doesn't accomplish that - they're looking solely to the future. Speaking of "revisiting the past".... bsn.boards.net/post/770652/threadBut that's not the past, that's my present and my future on this forum.

Yes, there is a LOT of demand for a DLC. I was just trying to prove him that even if people lost interest in Andromeda(they didn't) it would still be worth to push some cheap to produce content to keep people happy. It's a shame games are mostly digital now. I bet discs at stores would have made them even more money, but it was almost impossible to find one! Everything is online now. Not really, in some countries, mine included, it's still a better deal to buy a disc. I paid $45 when the game was being sold for the full price

Oh what did they tease with the last apex mission? It's been a crazy week for me. I've not even paid attention to much until today. Talked about a mysterious signal if I recall. Isn't that the terminology they use (kind of) when talking about the quarian ark? I think I remember it being all about the signal in general. Sounds like a tease for the ark.

So how reliable is Kotaku? I don't ever visit the site, but it seems that someone here is creating a thread about an article they wrote fairly often. Kotaku has always been derided as a poor source of gaming tabloidism, but for some reason when it comes to Mass Effect, they're now shining beacons of righteous idealistic journalism.

THANK YOU! It's the Quarian Ark's name! Mind you that this is a bit more than one month old or about two months after the game was released. I see no reason to do those kind of hints if they weren't going to make a Quarian Ark DLC, after all they could have just as easily omited the last two lines from that Apex Mission sumary if nothing is in the works.

Yeah and that HNS broadcast a week or so ago with the Drell and Hanar drama was also not needed if nothing's going to happen.

This^ Argued with somebody on the same topic a few weeks ago on Reddit. If something wasn't down the pipeline they could have easily deleted the last 2 lines and nobody would even bother. And i believe this also comes after the post on Reddit from the guy at Kotaku
