I remember at the winter palace when you first show up they say something about your character not being the inquisitor if you aren't human and you lose approval from the get go because of it. In the capital when you confront the revered mothers or whatever they were, they will mention what race your character is as proof that the maker wouldn't have sent you. I never played as a non mage human though so she might say something regardless.
