Folks, I was wondering if there is a good way to take down saboteurs? I was trying out Silver yesterday (see: noob) and basically I tried to concussion it, throw frag, then start turbocharge, but uhh, he manages to get enough time to reshield itself, so the worst case scenario is I am dead, the best case -I wasted my time if I dodge and go sit in cover. Help?

If you're ducked down in cover perpendicular(?) to them, they can't drain you. If you're at an open angle even while behind it, they'll be able to get the drain. Also are you soloing or something..? Feel free to add me. I play all difficulties on occasion. Example: 'A' shouldn't be able to hit you with drain, but 'B' might be able to. This seems kind of buggy as cover status should stop him esp at this angle, but it happens a lot.

They have a tell for when they are about to do their Shield Drain (which gives them a full bar of Shields); they raise one of their arms up in the air. When you see this, duck under cover as uchimura says. This prevents the drain from damaging you and giving them shields. Then pop back up and either gun them down or utilise powers that deal direct damage.

Nope, I am not soloing, but I need to know how to kill everything, so I don't bounce around with a catalogue of "Oh, I can't do that... next?" particulary with everyone else practically one-shoting everything. heh.
So, I have to have the hard cover egress then and mind the facing.
Thank you and monk

Maybe a more important question.. what weapons are you using?
Also, things like Overload and Disruptor ammo should stagger those guys.

Assault Rifles take a while to deal the required damage to Sabotuers. This is due to general low damage output from Assault Rfiles getting reduced from the Damage Reduction further.
Generally try and find a weapon that deals higher levels of damage in one shot. They will probably server you better, but they require quick and accurate aiming to get the most out of them.

Whenever I am playing the Kineticist, nothing gets me to “cover my brains” and jump into cover than seeing a Saboteur raise his arm, an Observer’s open its laser port, or the sound of a Sharpshooter’s red laser sight. So, jump into cover, use your powers and shoot him until he’s down. Good luck!

A's position seems reliable enough to me where it doesn't happen if he's directly head on while I'm in low cover, it's just that anything else risks a hit. Possible if he's right on the other side too, but can't remember.

Apart from my recollection of experience (which may be wrong), my guess is that enemies' powers work the same as the for us players. As a player, you know you can hit mooks with Energy Drain behind low cover just fine, no? It's nice to have something to check out, though!

And not concussive shot As far as cover.. I use it as an on/off switch. It's like a status that grants immunity in the right circumstances. It doesn't always work 100% depending on openness of the angles and height of where the enemies are shooting from, but I can gauge pretty well when something like missiles will hit me or not. I've also successfully inched myself from death against observers several times. Cover's somewhat finicky but a strong tool to get the feel for.. Edit: I'm trying/failing to be more technical than trying to sell it to you. Good example.. sometimes in cover you can turn around and the shield icon will stay on you. Sometimes it won't. If you're ressing a guy with the shield on, you're a lot less likely to be hit from something on the opposite side of that cover. If the shield's off, even if you're in the same spot, you're probably going to get hit.

He's definitely more "challenging" on Gold+ But, as people say, you have to look at him and there's a fairly noticeable animation when he's about to shield drain. You need to interrupt him if he's about to do that, fire is the thing that works best because he's armored, overload may do the trick but electrocution is not very reliable, plus he's armored so overload is not gonna do much damage. Basic stuff is aim for the head, and maintain distance, if you cannot engage him ASAP run the flip back, he has a limit range for his ability.

Does melee or hop-melee interrupt his cast? His tell is super-easy to see, even for the sit-awareness challenged, but what do I have to interrupt him with on an H!Sol? I was playing with XP/Cyclonic on Sil for Boosts, but I can throw Ammo on instead, since I am gonna just sink all MF into Mods anyway, not the XP boosts...
and, yes, yes, I understand that gold is harder than silver, and pt is harder than gold, if it were otherwise, it would have been v.strange.

Hesh shotgun is very effective at interrupting them (has extremely high stagger rating despite its moderate damage and fires very fast).. otherwise just break line of sight for a few seconds or sit under cover until the animation ends, then kill em.

Well, melee has a chance to interrupt anything really, even weapon fire. It's not reliable though. But you need to play by your strengths/weaknesses, as a Human soldier I'll probably keep my distance, concussive shot doesn't do anything to him from my experience and grenade may or may not work and by the time you toss it he probably already om nom nommed your shields, so...

Heh, my 4ARs are positively a bounty vs what I have in shotguns. I literally have a Katana and... and... that other shotgun (Disciple I). Heh. Scorpion? Carniflex? There is a reason I feel apologetic about queueing for Silver.

I was in a Platinum game a few days ago when it both literally and figuratively struck me: the Saboteur can only energy-drain you behind low cover if he's rather close to it. Farther off and it won't be able to hit you, indeed. I genuinely thought he always could. (・_・ヾ The same (I think) goes for Concussive Shot but I have to shoot it with a curve (i.e., aim above the target behind cover)...

Help? Concussive shot when they're about to drain shields (arm in the air, like they don't care) Also, don't take it bad, but if you're having trouble taking down a non boss enemy in silver, maybe simply because you don't have the right equipment or enough skillpoints yet, just play in bronze, I did that, there's no shame in playing bronze to unlock/level common gear/characters When it gets too easy, you can switch to silver for more profit

It depends on the character, my soldier just had a tough time dealing with them specifically.
