I want to choose Romantic (NOT the same to sexy time) BUT it's not on your poll. And I always trust Bioware when it come to story&choice.
What about you OP? I guess that you choose Graphic and Animation (Which no one even care but maybe you do, that why you act very different from most of user on this forum) .

It's story for me - if I would've enjoyed the story of Andromeda I'd be willing to look past a lot of my issues with the game, but I just found it very boring. I'd probably condense story/dialogue into writing as my 1/1a.

The echo chamber on this forum is probably the only corner of the internet that thinks that. Almost every critical review, positive and negative, will highlight the combat as a positive this time around, and overall story as a negative for Andromeda. How is that even a response to his question? What the hell is wrong with you, man?

I'd probably condense story/dialogue into writing as my 1/1a. You played the first 10 hours of the game. In fact, you only played the locked first 10 hours of the game, as you only played the free trial that didn't allow you past Eos. But I'm sure you got a lot of story in those 10 locked in hours to justify close to half a year of bitching and complaining on a forum. Yes, half a year, cause you were already riding the bitch train before the game released.

"A game is a series of meaningful choices" - Sid Meier. It's fair to say that BioWare has a reputation on delivering on this. Yeah, BioWare screwed up here and there, but it's a learning process and so far the journey has been fun. Andromeda has some bad moments (some can never be patched unless it's redone), but that's a very small portion of the larger picture on the Frostbite canvas. It's was exasperated by the game-breaking issues up until patch 1.05. The version at launch for the PS4 was at best: embarrassing. That was almost four months ago. I came back to Andromeda at 1.09 and this is the version that should've been released. This is the patch for me on the PS4. It still needs polish, but it's good-to-go "as is." There are still issues about the inconsistency in the writing, but hey... that again was a small picture of a huge (and overwhelmingly so) canvas. I love Drack. I love Cora. I love Peebee. I see why people love Reyes. Peebee's loyalty mission is a standard-bearer as far as companion quests go. When you discover the Architect, it's epic. I love ME3 with all its faults as Commander Shepard. I'm digging being a 22-year old again trying to fill the role of a Pathfinder. I gave this game a 7 after my first playthrough. It really deserved a 6, but I saw a lot of the unpolished material that might get fixed. By 1.09, minus a few things, this is an 8. How the QA got this so wrong is beyond me unless BioWare had already fully committed to fixing it (which they are... that's not fiction. That's a fact) and they're still feeling the sting from the cold reception. Either way, the lesson is already learned because we are talking about BioWare. They may correct, over correct, under correct, but they try. They also released DLC for every title, sometimes a lot more than others, but they do for every title. Nothing has changed in those aspects.

Escapism from reality in a fun relaxing manner but still feeling challenged with no real life threats whatsoever attached. All threats are in the game but I play the supreme within the boundaries of Bioware's fantasie layout. Bioware carved out a little niche I was very enamored with. Now they are becoming a carbon copy of other developers. But unitarily is in and diversity is out and being bought up by EA on that front isn't helping their creative juice flow abundantly or having much creative freedom.

Story with meaningful choices and then companions a very close second. Gameplay/combat only has to be playable and I'm fine with it. This is why I fell in love with the OT and the first couple DA games. This is also the reason I disliked the last two releases from Bioware. More effort put into having an open world and combat with less on what made them great in the first place.

I have. Metacritic is shit. Yeah, if we've learned anything it's the utter waste of Cyberspace that is reserved for user reviews on Metacritic Ever wonder why games and movies both are rated by it? Are these publishers in agreement with their fans cause they seem to disagree when that's the first thing that gets put next to their titles. i see just a bunch of salty people if they seriously let metacritic scores bother them but they're also not pointless.

"Thing MEA is clearly best at" = combat "Thing you value least" = combat "Almost every critical review, positive and negative, will highlight the combat as a positive this time around..." Sooooo.....

Mine would be, I guess, story and decisions. But not main story and decisions. Interactions with companions and loyalty missions are higher for me than the main story. Reapers are cool and all, but without Tali, Legion, and Mordin there, the main story would be good, but not great. Having that story interlaced with relatable and lovable companions with interesting backstories and fun missions associated to each one is what makes Mass Effect better than many of the other RPG's and other SP games I've played.

Curious what people value most in a Mass Effect game & why. For me it would be story, but dialogue would be a close second. Combat would be dead last. Story and choices. I loved playing MET because I could go back and make different choices and experience the game differently. ME2 and ME3 have combat that was more fun so I do like well done combat. MEA has a fun system that I love and so for that I am very happy. I never really care about the characters beyond my own much at first because I usually don't really connect with many of them right away EDIT to add - but I can love them later. Like now I love drack and cora. They are my favorites. In MET, I really liked Garrus and Kaidan in ME1 and seeing Garrus in 2 was a really happy moment. They ruined seeing Kaidan however. Miranda became an unexpected favorite for whatever reason. I think her sentinel build and professional aspect. Dialogue is important for my character - having dialogue where i feel connected to the character. But for me to be really honest, the dialogue from MET never really connected me to my character aside from there being professionalism that made the character believable. One of the things that throws me the most about MEA is how we have characters using very trendy american dialogue and they are aliens. That to me is so very out of place that no matter how many times I hear it, it is still jarring. Things like PB saying bye the bye and drack saying pretty much are just odd. However, when vetra mentions bamboozled in specific context to Sid being into human culture and learning about it and liking that word, it fits perfectly. I think it they did that with the crew, introduced a word or saying that is common to us now in that context as they did with sid/vetra and had the crew decide they liked it and start using it, it would be bloody brilliant and outright hysterical.

World-building. Andromeda feels particularly shy in this area because they've left out a lot of secondary races that added a lot of atmosphere and intrigue to the game. I'm not a huge fan of Star Wars anymore, but when I started with ME2, I got that kind of feeling that there's this huge universe that will keep you interested because it's way too big to explain.
In MEA it also feels like we have lesser versions of the enemies than in the OT. The soulless Remnant try to fill the void of both Protheans and Geth, the Kett: Collectors and Reapers, and the bandits are just faceless goons that are no where near as interesting as the gangs or Cerberus from ME2. Angarans are just <insert new goodguy race>.

Story, choices and interractions with your team is what makes a Mass Effect. Combat is fun, but everybody here's for the story. Le sexy time, well, it comes with the squadmates interractions, so we can't remove it. Graphics is another plus, but I can live without it, if the rest is good.

Call me cynical but why am I not shocked that the thing which MEA is clearly the best at is that which you value the least? BioWare games are all about story and choices. If combat is of highest importance, people could go anywhere. I don't generally agree with suikoden's tactics but I value most the same thing he does. As do most people, based on the poll and just reading this forum since it opened in August 2016. (And several months on the old BSN before it closed.)
