I liked the concept, but preferred having working hands. Also the spare ammo was ridiculously low.

I think of the sidewinder as a sidearm. Something I'll use if it can squeeze in because of it's low weight. It looks cool, but if I'm going to use a big pistol, I prefer it to have Hollywood force "knock over a truck" power. Freakin' brilliant show. I still show it to people every now and then. And back on topic, I'm enjoying the sidewinder for getting the challenge points, its pretty fun, but I'll probably never touch it once the challenge is completed. |

I liked it before 1.09, now with the quicker reload speed I like it even more. It is not top-tier, but really fun to use on a Human Soldier with TC specced 4a/5a/6b. I put the Expert Package on to reduce the reload speed on TC even more. Did want to save some elemental ammo, so I just took a Pistol Amp and Ammo Capacity as boosters - worked out pretty well in all honesty. Might be a weapon to actually use those Ammo Capacity boosters on  I think of it kinda like the Suppressor in ME3. Almost never saw someone else using it, but you were just popping those heads  |

Though it's under-powered, and a very small clip size, it is fun to pretend to be a space cowboy. The look, sound, and feel of the weapon is great, but i wouldn't take it into a gold match unless it was a pistol skirmish and even then only as a secondary.

I can see why there are negative comments for it.
It's lack of ammo (despite buff), is still a hinderance however I don't think I would ever see it as a primary weapon. However out of all the lighter pistols I would put it up there as one of the best side arms in the game.
Why do I have that opinion?
Well for weight and damage it outclasses almost every other pistol in the category. I see hurricane and ushior as primary weapons rather than support side arms, and it's much lighter.
So out of all the other pistols, it has reasonable damage on headshots, is accurate, and can actually damage armour because of it's ok damage per shot.
Don't see it as replacing a Rozerad or whatever, but when you have weight left over it's the best pick imho
