**Added Why to the thread title because it seems like a new trend of the forum. :amirite:
I have been playing him lately in Gold difficulty. Saying he is a really good character.. might be an understatement.
Doesn`t seem like any other characters can come even close to doing crowd control once you max Flak cannon and acquire radius power-celled concussive shot for him.
I know there are some classes such as Human Adept that is known to specialize in crowd control.
Are they still crowd control specialist... now we have Batarian Enforcer?

Depends on the crowd.... a crowd of red leveled enemies? Or the platinum armored enemies?
Red level enemies still have a number of crowd control players like barricade users, human engineers with cryo blast & to a certain extent the Insurgent with mines.
But platinum bosses walk through most of that stuff. Pain in the ass trying to control a Behemoth, Blaze, Berserker & Ascendant at 1 time..... with almost any class!

I still think Human Adept is the best CC-er overall but Scrapper is possibly better for close range CC, especially if you don't skimp on Concussives.

After attempting to complete the Combat Power challenge, I would say the Human soldier is the best at CC at least on gold or lower. Batarian is probably the best at dealing with armor, but hot damn does frag grenade do a lot of damage. As long as you're just dealing with mooks, Frag grenade appeared to be more efficient since all the damage is up front. I had a hard time trying to rack up kills in those games.

I just don't find 'crowd control' a big issue in this game to be honest. There are so many enemies spawned from so many locations, strung out over the whole map and so fast that it is not often I think about it too much.
Having said that he classes I have had the best success taking on 3 or 4 enemies at a time are ones that have a shooting pet.

I am thinking about respeccing one of my human soldier to purely utilize CS & FG alone, leaving Turbocharge at 1. I probably will keep Dhal soldier... but my Soned soldier can switch to power soldier. With XX power damage 40+ boost bonus.. this seems like a way to go.

Imagine the situation where you are suddenly surrounded by two adhi, one Berserker and 2 raiders. Most characters will have trouble... but batarian can simply freeze adhi, flak berserk then concuss raiders, not only getting out of situation but killing most of them during the process.

Best to control and kill armor...for sure, hands down... IMO only the Avenger is better on platinum, but the Batarian is alot more fun!

I am also experiencing more blank flak shot issue myself though... where it lands perfectly with no damage or effect...

The thing that annoys me the most about flak is that for me i cannot blow the enemy out of cover like the krogans do to us.

The thing that annoys me the most about flak is that for me i cannot blow the enemy out of cover like the krogans do to us. You can't direct-hit to knock them out of cover, but the radius is large enough that you can often target Flak at a wall or other obstacle/enemy behind them and hit the enemy in cover. Then just don both sets of sunglasses and stroll away while the DoT does its work.

Huh? Flak not landing? Never experienced this myself, save where my aim is off. Flak almost literally melts enemies after snap freeze. Only thing I can think of is that it has a faint curve in its trajectory: this makes me miss every once and a while.
I think the Batarian Scrapper currently is, indeed, the best crowd control character. Perhaps even the best character in the game...

I thought it might be lag issue (I am sure it is from time to time).. but it also happened when I am hosting as well. It`s really simple.. direct hit on observer but observer takes no damage. ...I don`t know why....

I haven't even been hosting lately since two friends got new ISPs and have overtaken me as the most stable hosts in the group, and I've literally never seen Flak fail to have an effect.

Flak Cannon has crazy finicky hit detection when you don't have a good connection with the host, worse than headshots I find. At least with headshots it will trigger as a bodyshot. With Flak Cannon you can walk away with zero impact/shrapnel damage on a direct hit. It's also really touchy with cover.

I will go out of my way to host a few games with a flak cannon class to see if that helps.

I didn`t experience this a lot when I was playing Kro-merc a lot before patch 1.09. I only recently started to use Flak cannon classes again since patch 1.09 because now they are reaching near level XX.
