Like to add that I was able to join a US host just a few minutes ago before eating dinner. Can anyone else confirm region lock has been removed in match making? I've done that on three occasions back in the day. I doubt it's something new. Not quite sure how it all works tbh. I'm pretty sure there were no region restriction the first month of the game. I was able to join in US hosts' public games. It stopped at 1.05. |

I was able to join in US hosts' public games. It stopped at 1.05. I'm pretty sure I encountered Kenny Bania post-105, and I assume he's in America. N7 Vorcha came into my host last week, though I don't know his region. Sorry no profile links cuz I'm on my phone. Anyway my guess is there were finally enough players to make matchmaking more region based, until there weren't enough players anymore and we get hosts across the world. |

I'll try to ask about this on the next Twitch stream. It's been on the list forever, but there always seemed to be more important stuff. Now that the playerbase seems to be dwindling (based on 'gut feel', number of posts here and and reddit, blah blah blah) this question seems more important to me.

Duh, in fact, this is almost exactly what Fernando said yesterday on Twitch.
How does matchmaking work? Are we ‘region locked’? (is it possible to be matched from Europe to U.S.A., or Asia/Pacific to U.S.A., for example)

The game just puts you in your own lobby. So, no, strictly speaking, it is region-locked, there is no weight or anything like that, it does not even try to connect outside of your zone. At least, this is true for me all the time every time. Probably, experience may vary. |

Doubt it. Whenever I played in what can be considered odd hours in Europe, I'd always be placed in my own lobby no matter how many times I tried, and would just give up eventually. |

Can relate to the matchmaking bullshit... I play at peak times and what would also be considered off-peak at the weekends. And 9 times out of 10, I end up in my own lobby either way. It happens so often that I irrationally begin to think that no one in the UK / Europe actually plays this game at all... I blame Brexit  |
