Oh wow, you guys have been busy! It's good to see you back, xelander, even if it's just to see you retire.  (And who knows, perhaps retirements are something to take seriously now, with Andromeda closing in).

It's also good to see that at least one brave team will complete the Tales from the Trenches; I feel kinda guilty about not trying harder to partner up with someone to do this myself, but hey! It's not too late yet! (Which is also the morale of the story for all of you, and especially HamleticTortoise himself!)

The   HoF update announcement   today is of a different nature than usual. As I hinted at before, doh has joined our little team and starting from New Year's he's been managing the Themed Challenges HoFs pretty much on his own. Unlike myself, he seems to have the wisdom and discipline to update the site continuously; that is, to enter updates in small batches daily, rather than wait for them to pile up and then need to spend hours with it. So the HoFs should be more or less up to date at all times now (plus-minus a few days), and announcements such as this will only be made when actually necessary.


Just so it's clear, this doesn't mean that I'm retiring from the business of maintaining the site and the HoFs. To the contrary, I've been hard at work the past few months to collect the data for all the archived runs and turn it from html to a spreadsheet (much like it's been done by cato for the PHOF). This task consisted of two steps. The first was coming up with a data model to capture and describe challenges themselves (this is the stuff behind the Challenge Search), in which I had a lot of help and sound advice from HamleticTortoise.

The second step, which was only recently completed, was to scrape the site html for actual runs. This proved a lot more difficult than I'd anticipated because most records are just copy/pasted submissions and there are numerous deviations from a uniform format. In this step I was greatly assisted by doh, who actually did more than half of the job; and the job was immense. As of today, the Themed Challenges HoFs contain almost 6000 entries! This is twice the volume of the PHOF, with the additional complexity of the challenge-run system.

These days I'm working on the third step, which is to immortalize all that data (Themed Challenges and PHOF both) in the form of a database that could be used to run a self-updating website (among other things). This will also serve to prepare the grounds for future MEA themed challenges and halls of fame, should there be interest in such a thing.

Huge work smehur and clusum. Not sure i m understand what "scrap the site html for actual runs", i hope u had some kind of script filling those cells but my script abilities are rusty, so no idea if this could work fast. Faster than 20 000 copy paste for sure ?
What format of database are u using ?

As you can see, we didn´t got the 125 kill medal objectives with only biotic and smg kills(only 110), but everything else like 3WS and no bleedouts. We also got it in our first try. We did the rest of the Duos including 15.2 except 15.1.

If we´re going to complete this challenge the prefered way, we would have to grind. We tried to past this one quickly. So is this run accepted? Otherwise we would do this again while doing the outcome 15.1.

It should be considered, that the missle launcher is a weapon, too. We got one killstreak with a missle (+5 kills) and 11 others missles, which killed stuff (as you can see at the 75 kill medal, only 1/2 grabs eachs. So I would call this a victory .
